Thanks for watching. This video was made in response to a 'person' who had his head all up in Mary's azz and basically ignored the ORIGINAL artists that she's been copying & attempting to remake songs by for most of her career. I like Mary to an extent, but let's not get things twisted.

I do believe Mary is best out right now.. and I'm going to always give the utmost repsect Patti or Aretha or Chaka and all the old power houses those were her influences and I;m big fans of them 2

Mary's vocals have come on ten fold since her days of drinking & drugging (just listen to what that has done to Whitney's voice) these recordings are from those days.

Mary has worked on her craft and anyone who has seen her perform live since The Breakthrough will tell you she can stand up head and shoulders with the greats (no studio trickery involved)

I agree, Mary has improved. Thank God she left the vices alone. And wow, you had to bring up whitney. What a loss. I saw her on GMA, and cringed whenever she opened her mouth. But it's ALL Whitney's fault. The damage is too severe, but I hope for the best. As for Mary, her hard work is indeed paying off. Can't wait to see if she'll ever move away from the Hip Hop stuff and focusing on R&B.

I think she looks great these days but I just can't take her intonation - especially in a live setting. I'll never be a fan of her singing per se or her "tone" but I do enjoy many of her tracks/songs.

If I have to choose my favorite singers from Mary's age range, I'd go with Lalah Hathaway and Ledisi.

Thanks. I agree with you about Mary in a live setting. The studio tricks definitely enhances her voice, but I must say she's improved somewhat. YES, props to Ledisi & Lalah. I wonder if they ever thought about recording a duet together....Hmmmm!!! :~)

I also thought her pitch had improved but then I caught her on Oprah about a year ago and it was like a five year old - all over the place. It's not like she's tone deaf or anything but her pitch is very sloppy. Many people love her though!

you're probably talking about the Take me as i am performance in 07 and it was very emotional and great.. that was her transitional year where she was going from having alot of good performances and then 1 out the bunch was pitchy.. but then 08 came where like she could do no wrong Live.. i mean it was like that sometimes in recent years...

I could pen point a good amount of performances from back in the day and the 2000s where she sounded exactly like the studio version.. when u hear her Acappella Live u could really here there are really no tricks..

EXCELLENT!!! I always loved Mary & she has always been someone that knows, loves & RESPECTS the old school music & it's artists!!! She & Elton wore this song OUT!!! And of course Stevie loves her too!!! I remember when she sang "Overjoyed" for Stevie on some award show & she just tore it up & Stevie was having a FIT!!! LOL
