There is no historical record of a census requiring people to return to the town of their birth. The existence of Jesus or and of his supposed miracles are not supported by any historical texts outside the bible. I call Santa Claus Satans Claws though. I guess it has merit with the giving we should be doing but I can't see Jesus even supporting this. Although I grew up in an abusive family of atheists/agnostics who celebrated Christmas in an albeit "worldly way", to a young abused child it was as sacred "crumbs thrown to the dogs". Those were the few-if only- happy memories of my youth. I would wait year after year with excitement just to hear/see a glimmer of the Christmas & Easter story...Songs like Silent Night, Away in a Manger, What Child is This; and movies like, "It's a Wonderful Life" & "Jesus of Nazereth" would succor me through...
Does it truly matter what calendar date his birth happens to fall on? Or does it matter more that we remember, acknowledge, & celebrate his birth, life, & teachings? Jesus Christ made it clear (in Luke 11) that a Kingdom divided against itself will not stand; He also said evil does not bear good fruits...Therefore, is it good or evil to bring forth messages & symbols of kindness, warmth, hope, & love? @katja514 OK - I agree with you. Our family doesn't have a Xmas tree & we don't make much of it all. However, we do give gifts because, as this short video clip tries to highlight, that reflects the spirit of our Heavenly Father who loved us so much that He also gave.... So, as I said, (since Xmas keeping prevails) why not highlight that which points away from selfishness and instead focus on having a healthy attitude to others (love, forgiveness etc) & to God who is the source of all good?

Thanks to those who have stood up for the Truth of God's Word. There are so many things wrong with the manmade traditions and celebrations of Christmas, it's hard to know where to start. And, no, that doesn't mean we don't celebrate Jesus' birth, or that we minimize good works. I was looking for a video to show my three grandchildren ages 4,7 and 9 to show them the real meaning of Christmas. At first I was going to show them Linus from Charlie Browns Christmas. Then I came across this and it gave me that flutter in the heart feeling. Although I grew up in an abusive family of atheists/agnostics who celebrated Christmas in an albeit "worldly way", to a young abused child it was as sacred "crumbs thrown to the dogs". Those were the few-if only- happy memories of my youth. I would wait year after year with excitement just to hear/see a glimmer of the Christmas & Easter story...Songs like Silent Night, Away in a Manger, What Child is This; and movies like, "It's a Wonderful Life" & "Jesus of Nazereth" would succor me through...

Does it truly matter what calendar date his birth happens to fall on? Or does it matter more that we remember, acknowledge, & celebrate his birth, life, & teachings? Jesus Christ made it clear (in Luke 11) that a Kingdom divided against itself will not stand; He also said evil does not bear good fruits...Therefore, is it good or evil to bring forth messages & symbols of kindness, warmth, hope, & love? @katja514 True, what we call Christmas is a re-vamped pagan holiday, but hey..... it's a great excuse to get people to think about Jesus and what He gave up to become a part of the human family. That aspect so easily gets over-shadowed by the commercialism, hype, and even the majority of Christmas 'carols'. Since Christmas is such a universally recognised holiday, why not try to put the spirit of Jesus Christ back into Christmas? Love, kindness, etc. Blessings!!

@katja514 OK - I agree with you. Our family doesn't have a Xmas tree & we don't make much of it all. However, we do give gifts because, as this short video clip tries to highlight, that reflects the spirit of our Heavenly Father who loved us so much that He also gave.... So, as I said, (since Xmas keeping prevails) why not highlight that which points away from selfishness and instead focus on having a healthy attitude to others (love, forgiveness etc) & to God who is the source of all good?

Let's see, the message is: humanity is born inherently sick and wicked, as created by a "perfect" god, so he had to send himself down in human form to end up torturing himself to show his love, otherwise we ourselves will end up tortured for ETERNITY on fire. Lovely message.

Thanks to those who have stood up for the Truth of God's Word. There are so many things wrong with the manmade traditions and celebrations of Christmas, it's hard to know where to start. And, no, that doesn't mean we don't celebrate Jesus' birth, or that we minimize good works. It means that we choose to celebrate Jesus' birth, life, death, and resurrection EVERY DAY, and try to spread His love to those around us -- WITHOUT diluting the Gospel by adopting the traditions & superstitions of men.

2nd, Jesus was born in a manger, but there is no mention of any animals. The idea of animals being present can be credited to Saint Francis of Assisi who created the first nativity scene in 1223.
3rd, At least 2/3 people on earth don't celebrate Christmas, because they don't believe in Christ.
