  • Holy Screamer, Batman...!

  • is it possible if anyone can give me the list of things i need to make a simple plane...im doing a physics project. and if possible, post a link that shows how to wire the motor with the thing that turns the propeller...i dont even knw wht that's called. i'll appreciate the help.

  • what are your expo and dual rates set at?

  • @FairviewRCflier On my SuperNova I set the Dual rates to 75% and I did not use any EXPO. My plane is nice and stable and very touchy. It is actuall very easy to fly and very stable.

  • @rcFoamFighters oops meant to say "Not Very touchy". it feels locked in and does what you want it too. i think this is still one of the best flying planes I have designed.

  • Hey Paul thats a damn nice plane i hope to built one of my own some day! where did u place the CG on the super-nova? Thx 4 the inspiration!

  • Hello ....

thank u very very much for ur help ...

i built it ... its very very fantastic ... looool.

how can i show it ???

    sorry for disturb ...

    Best Regards

  • Hello everyone ...

i want to know when i want to flying this plane , i put the throttle speed full or what ??

    sorry for disturb ..

    Best Regards

  • @Nobel0 The SuperNova I built is usually launched at only about half Throttle. The first time I was going to launch it, i mistakingly pushed full throttle and it almost ripped it out of my hands, LOL. If you are using the same motor and prop set up as I am, its a beast! Half throttle is all you need for take offs.

  • Energy sources without the need for fuel or energy input exist ,But the Oil companies want these technologies unknown to the masses,Get the blueprints for a real Magnet motor free enegy machine at LT-MAGNET-MOTORdotCOM ,Join the energy revolution!

  • Hey Paul. I love the look of the Supernova with the canopy. I've only got 10mm thick EPP of which i can laminate together. If I laminated two of the 10mm thick sheets and made the wing 20mm thick. Do you think the plane will be able to penetrate the air a lot better?

  • @vmat377

That sounds like a good idea. My original was 30mm thick. Going to 20mm should make it a little more streamline. You may need to add a spar or maybe an extra layer of the weave in between the two layers. Should be cool though. i would to see your build if you make it. Oh, i have a supenova extreme in the works, only 15mm thick, bigger size and way bigger motor! Hope to get time to finish it in the coming weeks or months. Good luck with your build!

    Paul

  • @rcFoamFighters HobbyKing had just gotten the 3648 motors back in stock and i ordered two. I'm very happy with that; after like a 4 month wait LOL.

So the supernova will be the next on m 'to-do' list.

I've got heaps of fibreglass weave, so hopefully it'll be strong enough without the need of a spar. We'll see how mental this plane goes when i get it complete :-)

Ohh you've got me salivating at the mouth at the idea of a supernova extremee!!! Can't wait to see that up in the air.

  • @rcFoamFighters Also, i reckon with the 15mm thick wing, you could probably go for a smaller diameter prop but with a high pitch. Something like a 6x6 or 6x7 - higher v-pitch. I guess you'll loose thrust output, which means lesser acceleration, but your going for top speed. So should be okay.

I'm starting my build this weekend!!!!

  • holy shit thats fast.

  • Awesome plane.

  • From where to get the motor.

  • very nice technique on the hand launch. excellent work.

  • OK, I'm in too.

Give me a list for the person who has

    no rc airplane/jet items whatsoever.

I'm ready to go heavy on the radio and motors.

  • Hey Guys...Im a recent subscriber and now a devout follower. I have a couple of questions: 1. What is the "thrust plate" you are talking about on the NovaJet? 2. Can you explain or tell me where I can find specific instructions on selecting the right battery/ESC/motor/prop for a given plane?

  • hhahhaah sweet!

  • God damn! that is FASH Ill try building one. Very inspirational ive watched all videos.

  • You should stick one of thoughs Key chain spy cameras on that thing. That would be some insane video. What is the cost on that power set up and can you break it down as to what cost what? Thank you a bunch.

  • @gwsslowstick I just got into building planes and I can tell you I paid:

    Radio/receiver: $180

    Speed control: $50

    Motor: $40

    Battery: $20

Servos(4): $25/ea. (you can get by w/ 2 but will have to sacrifice something)

    Glue Gun: $15

    Foam: $10

These prices are rough but just over $400 for me. You can certainly buy a lesser radio that will do the trick for about $50 and, as I mentioned, you can get by with 2 servos.

  • Hello friends!!! Might you to tell me what is the measure of the tip of the nose up to the support of the motor and also the wingspan? Thank you.

  • Hello my friends! I`m form Brazil and I adored it SuperNova of news!!! Cannot you put his plant in order? SuperNova of news would like building it!!! Thank you.

  • @KEKECG

Thanks for the comment. I will be drawing plans for this plane hopefully sometime soon when time allows. Sorry that they are not ready now, but i hope soon. Once they are done they will be on the website. Thanks!

  • ? how many grams of static and dynamic thrust do these planes use.

  • @AVAMagneticlev

the static bench test revealed the thrust was about 5 pounds or 2268gms.

  • I'm glad I found you guys!!!! That was awesome flying. I want to get into it, but I'm a newbie at it. Do you have any vids for guys just starting out? also, any on board camera? I'd love to see some video from on board. Thanks.

  • @demofactory

demofactory, i don't have any onboard videos of the speed planes yet, but look at my Jupiter plane part 6, it has an HD onboard camera.

    Thanks for watching!

  • @demofactory Yeah, Im a newbie too and I can't BEGIN to tell you what a huge help that these guys have been to me!

  • wow how much do they cost?!?!?

  • @vickomf

The plane is a scratch build, but the electronics cost about $100, then you also have to supply the Radio and transmitter, foam, tape and glue..

  • Thats awesome!!!! You guys got me into Electric brushless rc planes. I used to watch you guy's insructional videos on how to build these planes and it looked really fun so I built an extra 300 out of bluecor and it will hover and knife edge off of a 2-cell lipo. I think im going to build a foam jet like your planes, I want to put lights on it and fly it at night at a local park to make people think there is a ufo lol.

  • Thanks smeelokilo! Cool, glad you have gotten into the hobby of electric RC planes. Soounds like you are well on your way. Best of luck with all your builds. let us know if you post any vidoes. Thanks again!

  • hey where can you by them and how much?

  • shemailthing, this is a scracth built plane. There are currently none for sale. there will eventually be free plans posted for anyone who wnats to build one for themself.

    Thanks

  • Certified laser and radar operator make sure you have a straight on shot with the radar or you are shorting yourself of speed.

  • Thanks marines0001! you are 100% correct. We try to be as straight and low as we can when using the Radar Gun. We will never be 1005 accurate but hopefully pretty close.

  • how fast dose tht thing go answer me plzzzz!!!!

  • Its been clocked at 143mph. Please see my newest video, "Measuring the Speed of an RC PLane"

  • Most impressive pusher I have even seen. Super job on this guys but Im sure you know it. You can tell in your voice you shocked yourself :) Way to tear up the sky.

  • Thanks a lot LipoPilot, appreciate the comment. Good work on all those new planes you have been making too! Keep up the good work.

  • Very impressive! I too love the sound of it. If it were larger it would sound even more like a real jet.

Maybe you guys should wear helmets just in case of a misguided landing. HA! Ha!

Just kidding but do be careful because even if you got hit by a spit wade doing over 100 MPH it would really smart!

    Keep up the good work!

  • haa haa, thanks Dad! Yeah, these planes are getting pretty fast. I have a new airspeed module I will soon test, then we won't have to fly so close to pick it up on radar as much.

  • Great work! And yes CC with translation on is weard. "They know, that muslims mean for him before the song over him" - WTF ?!? (CC+Translation from English to German) ... haha ... I've a question, could you say, whats important to have, if someone gets started with scratch build's?

    Greetings from Switzerland, Chrigi

  • Thanks CH0Rigi! Yep CC's are wacky. As for your question, I think the first thing you need to get started is patients, LOL. Just consider your first builds as a learning process. As for items needed, it's really good to have the handheld hot wire for EPP or blue foam builds. A good sharp box cutter type knife and the spongy type sanding blocks for all builds. For foamboard the Logon Foamboard cutter makes cutting bevels so much easier. Last, proper glues that won't eat your foam.

  • Thanks for the answer! But, whats about electronics? A Dis-Charger is important, right?

    Greetings from Switzerland, Chrigi

  • oh and the new google CC video transcribe is hilarious... sub beta stage :)

  • Hey, your right, those captions are totally wacky. Thats so funny. I didn't even know it tries to automatically translate the sound. I never tried it before... Yeah, I would say youtube still needs to get that corrected. Not even close to what was really said. Any thanks for the comment. gave me a good laugh too.

  • This is beyond amazing. Awesome design and sound. Also looks extremely fun and exciting... Great work!

  • Thanks sfbox, appreciate the cool comment. This plane is so much fun to fly. Can't wait to get it out to the field again.

    Thanks!

  • Well, once again the Pettys do it to it. Did you guys bench test the prop/motor/battery combo for max current? Hmph. I didn't think so.

Gobrushless has some prop thrust curves available, and more are being generated all the time up on RCG. You need to use some of those numbers combined with the actual measured max current that you get from a static bench test to see what prop is gonna get you what you want. I would think that going down in diameter and up in pitch is the speedy solution. Heh.

  • SUG thanks for watching. We did do some bench/ static tests and the high pitch prop was calculating to a higher speed. At the field as the 7x8 was faster than the 7x6 prop. I've never seen a 6 inch prop with a higher pitch than the 7x8. I like the larger props because they have more thrust at a lower rpm. On 5S Lipo packs the 7x8 seemed to work really good. Frank may try this motor and ESC setup with a 6S lipo and 6.5x6.5 prop. Even with that though, I think the prop speeds are pretty close..

  • You might also look at a higher kV motor in the same size bracket. Going up a hundred kV or so might get you to where you can use a slightly smaller diameter prop and still get all the offta you are looking for.

Of course, you still need to be worried about max RPM on both the motor bearings and the prop. The GoBrushless guys are always reminding people of what happens when you exceed the max RPM rating of an APC prop. Ever seen a clutch come through a scattershield? Heh.

  • wow man thats 1 quick puppy i love the sound on throtle and off

    well done

  • Thanks McILF01! it is really a fun plane and I love the sound too. it sounds even better in person. Thanks again for watching and commenting!

    Paul

  • where can I go to check out what u r using for ur power system? and how much was it?

  • rcramosrc, I put the power system details in the side bar with links. Just note the motor needs a little modification. you have to loosen the set screw on the motor shaft, then press it through to convert to a pusher motor. This will require an additional 5mm shaft collar. I just bought some 5mm landing gear wheel collars, which worked fine. Frank and I plan on doing a video soon on how to mod the motor. Thanks,

  • Can't wait to build one! Fantastic.

  • Thanks hamburgrd! i hope to have some basic plans for this plane sometime soon. I really think anyone who builds and flies one of these will have a lot of fun.

    Thanks,

  • Hey guys. Awsome plane. Just thought you should break in your batteries before you ask so much of them. Most manufacturers recomend to discharge to half capacity at around 5C for a few cycles. At least 5

It's something to do with a chemical that is in new lipo batteries

    Keep up the good work

  • Thanks for the comment alexbin117! You are exactly correct, we should be cycling the batteries a few times before running them so hard. Frank and I know better, LOL, but we are always in such a rush and anxious to get out to the field. very bad habit of ours, LOL. I really need to start putting the batteries on the charger and cycle them as soon as I get them. Anyway, great advice from you for us and all our viewers. Thanks again!

  • ............. I'm speechless!

  • Thanks for watching sterworks. Hope being speechless means you like it, LOL. Thanks again!

  • Heck yeah I liked it! Makes my eflite t-34 look like a GWS plane.

  • man, it seems like i'm always the last one to see one of your new vids Paul. i just get so busy that can only squeeze in a few minutes of youtube on my day off between other projects (renovating/remodeling kid's room, studying, work, etc..) but it was well worth the wait to see "no go" supernova jet in the sky. maybe after seeing this vid, they may change the Spanish meaning of no va to something mas rapida!

  • Haa haa, cool comment Ken. I can understand the limited time, seems I 'm always fighting to keep up too with all the busy stuff going on. So i guess if we were using spanish I'd have to change it to the MuchoVa or something. My spanish is terrible by the way.. I'm sticking to SuperNova as being a huge explosion of energy from a massive star... haa haa..

  • That plane seems to fly awesome, great plane guys. and my compliments for the dedicated camera work :-)) 5*

  • Thanks insAneTunA! This plane was a nice surprise on who good it flew. Though it is hard to film. i think we need a better camera to keep up and focus on this fast planes that are now quicker and flying farther than before. Thanks IT!

  • wow! I can't believe how fast it is. u could kill someone with that speed. be careful out there guys. very amazing! 5*****

  • Thanks rcramosrc! These planes are getting pretty crazy, but fun.

  • Paul,

Hey man! The Super Nova Jet looks great man!!! Fantastic Job!!! Can't wait to see more videos of it...

    C-Poppy

  • Thanks C-Poppy! SuperNova came out prtty good even though I did a rush build. More videos to come as soon as we can get back out to Hermann Airport. This thing is too crazy to fly at the park.

  • Hey great video Pauly. You cant ask for a better maiden flight. That plane is pretty cool bro. Keep up the good work. And keep the videos comming.

  • Thanks Mike-O! yeah the maiden went great. Everything was dialed on the first toss. Didn't need to add any trim or anything. I was really happy.

  • outstanding man

  • Thanks Superman!

  • I'm not sure if thats fast enought Paul, lol just playing with you man that is mental fast ;-) just aswell herman airport is as big as it is because the super nova was eating that sky up damn quick ;-) 5*

  • Thanks for the comment and watching Ian! Haa haa, its pretty fast, but what i like even more is how controllable this plane is at those high speeds. Thanks again startazz!

  • What you realy need is a JustGoFly.com500t on 7x5 and a 40 amp esc. That will take you to be faster than you r now.

  • Thanks for teh comment j13onnyv. I have not looked at those motors yet. Though at 40amps I do not see it putting out 5 pounds of thrust and 1600watts like this motor. This is a 3 pound plane and needs a bit of thrust. And is the 500t motor lower priced than 23 dollars? I haven't found a better deal for 1600watts of power yet. thanks for your suggestion on the motor, I will look it up.

  • wow maybe a little fast for fpv but i will still give it a go lol. love the way it sounds too, Looks like a some kind of rcFF/blue angel colour scheme either way it looks aweome paul. i ordered my motor today a inrunner 1800watt and a 120amp esc, 5* man

  • Thanks Mikey! For an FPV version, maybe a four sell and 8-inch prop would be good on this plane. Slow it down a little, but sure it would still be quick. The color scheme, I just trhough on very quick before going out to Hermann. I will mostlikely revise it, as I'm not happy yet on the scheme. But overall, I'm all smiles and grins about this plane. So much fun. Wow, 1800watts and 120Amps, awesome can't wait to see it.

  • Comment removed

  • add a smoke bomb bay so we can track it.

  • Haa haa, hmmmm, that may be a good idea.

  • lights????????????????????????????

  • Lights??? Maybe, I don't know if i want to fly this crazy bird at night though, LOL.

  • perfect formula plane.

  • Thanks altops! This plane is so much fun and handles great.

  • BAD ASS !

  • Thanks Dylan62702! Think those were some of the first words I mumbled to myself as I started the maiden flights, LOL Thanks for watching!

  • Can you give us a rundown on how you pulled the audio from the video for the waveoscope doppler program. i downloaded it last week to measure the FF300 when I complete it. My only thing is I don't know how I will pull the audio to a seperate file. And i'm interested to see how the tube setup is cause I almost bought it but I came in overwieght on my order when i added that part to the shipment. That'll be an excellent comparison of the 3. the gun, the tube, the waveoscope and then an average.

  • Brando, Frank and I plan to do a detailed video on using the soundscope program as well the other two methods. We will try and explain how each method is done and what variables will effect the accuracy. Hope to do this video soon in the coming weeks.

  • stay up all night to put this video up? ud da man! Dude, at 130 I've never seen a plane locked in like that and then to be able to banks tight turns like that? You got the ultimate machine! Like the F22, supersonic with NO afterburner. I'm defintely sending you those mechanical airbrakes that i found. You've outdone everyone in my opinion cause you got the speed and flying ability. Thom did a great job as well. Wonder what the super nova would be like if it was glassed!?!?!?!

  • Thanks Brandon! Yes, this thing is such a blast to fly. No other plane I have can carry the spped but still manuever like this one can. LOL, I think airbrakes would be cool to add. It would be crazy to make a SuperNova with the foam and glass like you are making your plane. with a thinner wing I'm sure it would be even mor ballistic. it now has a thick 30mm wing. Believe it or not, there is no spars in this plane. Only EPP with the henrys weave. amazingly rigid though.

  • what motor is that?3700 turngy?

  • Thanks allanshoafrocks. The motor is a Turnigy 3648-1450, rated at 1600 watts. Great motor for around 20 bucks. I'll add a link in the side bar later when I get a chance. Thanks.

  • I have the 3700 in my funjet and it screams like an evil bee!lolwith a 22004cell and 60 amp esc.

  • Jeese! That thing has got some extreme climb.

Whats the total flying weight of this one?

  • Thanks johndog35! Yeah, this plane goes up like a rocket. The weight and momentum carry it straight up the ladder to the top, LOL. It weighs in just under 3 pounds, think it is about 47 ounces. Probably be right around 3 pounds when done

  • jeeeesh, it even glides fast!

  • LOL, yep, I think i need airbrakes on this one.

  • holy fast! wow Paul....you've outdone yourself! 5*

  • Thanks shaneeek! I appreciate the cool comment and support! How are your cool planes coming along? hope good. Thanks again.

  • awesome Paul, roooooaaar, lol

this is one hell of a plane man.

    great vid 5*

  • haa haa, Thanks xwingfan! Yes, i do love the rooooaaar of this plane. Makes flying it even more fun.

  • Righton Paul!...very nice...looks like she was on rails!...Awsome sound ...Crazy verticals dude!!

    great work as allways!...

    Jacques

  • Thanks brother! This plane still amazes me with how it flies. It is more locked in and controlable than any other design I have flown. I really like this power setup, low priced, but amazing power. Can't wait t o see your new beast setting some RCFF records! Thanks again Jacques. Oh, i did get your pic fro the plans too. Still have to finish them up for you. sorry for the delay, just crazy busy as usual. Rock on bro!

  • Wow... supersonic!! Nice work Paul.

  • Thanks RowdyRod! I would have to say i think this is my new favorite plane

  • Very nice!

  • Thanks LipRipp3r! Morer videos to come in a little while on the SuperNova.

  • nice vid

    grtzzzz

  • Thanks poerik!
