Speaking as an adamant Potterhead, Twilight (the first book) isn't bad for what it is. The characters show development. Edward's "I can't be with you because I'm a monster" hasn't gotten old and tired yet. And nobody is too Mary Sue/Gary Stewish. It's a slightly cheesy feel good love story.
i was always confused at how bella feels around edward, i never believed that you could feel that strongly about someone you don't even know. then i met this guy at college and he's the kind of beautiful that makes you want to break out in girly giggles or hyperventilate. so i do see bella's point now :D
Twilights awful they are more like pixies than vampires. Real vampires kill people like on the lost boys and don't freakin sparkle and fall in love with humans. It's just a terrible story line and to be honest I think it has ruined vampires forever because all kids 13 and under will refear to twilight as real vampires and not the scary ones.
My friend was explaining the story line of Twilight to me and it's actually about Edward's sister or something because she can see the future or something so the vampires and werewolves want her powers or something like that... I don't really get it. The whole Bella/Edward thing is just a major side plot...

I felt the same way about Twilight so I watched the first movie. I mean I've watched other movies, cartoons and anime that I didn't think I'd like then ended up loving. I could bare the cheesy lines and somewhat awkward scenes that made no sense, but as soon as he started to sparkle.... done. Then I was like, "Maybe I should give it another chance!" watched the rest, still didn't like it. But that's just me.
Cheese, but that's a lifetime obsession. From 1999 until 2003 I think it was I would go to GenCon (Nerdy RPG convention) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which as you may know is a Mecca for cheese. I was in heaven. I'd go two days early and leave a day late ostensibly to avoid the rushes, but really it was to gorge on wonderful cheese for an extra few days. Unfortunately around 2003 or 2004 GenCon moved to Indianapolis, and I was a sad cheese-loving nerd. No, I don't really have a favorite. 8)
Kate, you have to understand one thing about Twilight. The reason that Bella is dreaming about him and lust for him and junk is because vampires have that effect on people! It is part of their predator being that they invite people in. Humans look at them and see amazingly beautiful people so the human's would follow the vampires into a dark alley or something for feeding time. Bella can't help lusting for him. The fact that Edward loves her too just makes it all the worse!

Speaking as an adamant Potterhead, Twilight (the first book) isn't bad for what it is. The characters show development. Edward's "I can't be with you because I'm a monster" hasn't gotten old and tired yet. And nobody is too Mary Sue/Gary Stewish. It's a slightly cheesy feel good love story.

Twilights awful they are more like pixies than vampires. Real vampires kill people like on the lost boys and don't freakin sparkle and fall in love with humans. It's just a terrible story line and to be honest I think it has ruined vampires forever because all kids 13 and under will refear to twilight as real vampires and not the scary ones.

My friend was explaining the story line of Twilight to me and it's actually about Edward's sister or something because she can see the future or something so the vampires and werewolves want her powers or something like that... I don't really get it. The whole Bella/Edward thing is just a major side plot...

Even though I'm a guy, I enjoyed Twilight. Was a good read. Not amazing I'm not like a Twyhard or anything, but meh.
Plus the whole fall in love instantly was due to these Vampires having a certain alure about them that people like instantly. Some shit like that.

Alex Day's reading of the book was quite lovely. Now that is some decent entertainment. Im glad he only read one book, no need to repeat that task.
I appreciate the approach you are doing here by reading the book(s). I figure if the films are as bad as they are then why should the books be worth reading.

I LOVE TWILIGHT if i could marry a book series i would marry Twilight. it is amazing and i love it to death. my fave is deff new moon. the first one was ehhh but tht just encouraged me to read mor cuz for me usually the book series tht i love usually have an ehhh first book but the rest are amazing so Kate i strongly encourage you to read the second one cuz it gets soo much better nd by the third u will be screaming with joy. yes screaming in joy it tht good

I felt the same way about Twilight so I watched the first movie. I mean I've watched other movies, cartoons and anime that I didn't think I'd like then ended up loving. I could bare the cheesy lines and somewhat awkward scenes that made no sense, but as soon as he started to sparkle.... done. Then I was like, "Maybe I should give it another chance!" watched the rest, still didn't like it. But that's just me.

Cheese, but that's a lifetime obsession. From 1999 until 2003 I think it was I would go to GenCon (Nerdy RPG convention) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, which as you may know is a Mecca for cheese. I was in heaven. I'd go two days early and leave a day late ostensibly to avoid the rushes, but really it was to gorge on wonderful cheese for an extra few days. Unfortunately around 2003 or 2004 GenCon moved to Indianapolis, and I was a sad cheese-loving nerd. No, I don't really have a favorite. 8)

I always find the idea of people instantly falling in love kind of weird because I usually don't like someone unless I've known them for a while.
On the other hand I tend to develop strong attachments to people that I do get to know over time.
I'm a guy and a writer and I actually enjoyed Twilight quite a bit.
The storyline was fairly interesting, and the background and history of the vampires and was somewhat unique.
I think I prefered her other book, the Host though.

Kate, you have to understand one thing about Twilight. The reason that Bella is dreaming about him and lust for him and junk is because vampires have that effect on people! It is part of their predator being that they invite people in. Humans look at them and see amazingly beautiful people so the human's would follow the vampires into a dark alley or something for feeding time. Bella can't help lusting for him. The fact that Edward loves her too just makes it all the worse!
