1-28-2012. Ain't it fine, ain't it fine? Dan Spitz is 49. Happy Birthday, Dan. You finally caught me (at 49, that is). BTW, I saw Anthrax in November 1988 at the Hampton Coliseum in Virginia. They opened up for Ozzy Osbourne.
this song was the first I heard straight out of boot camp, circa 1993...the precursor of some of the best times of my life...a poetic tragedy of biblical proportions...throw some STP's Core in there and ya might have a suicide!
@jaehaus Nope. Danny Trejo had pock marks on his face even in the early nineties. This guy is just too smooth in the face. He does look like he could be related though.
Very undervalued Anthrax release. Joey Belladonna is great singer for Anthrax but Bush really added an element that was missing from the band. Such a great album from start to finish.
Why are there comments on politics or politicians here? Is it because the singer's surname is Bush? I CAN'T believe there are adults posting here. BRILLIANT SONG!!!
This so means so much. When i first heard it i was going through a difficult patch. My mam was suffering from depression, tried to kill herself and ended up in a rehabilation centre. She was suffering from Insomnia and this song summed everything thing up for me. It was me witnessing the demise of my mother.
Thankfully everything got better and shes fine now. Thank you Anthrax for giving me hope during a very dark time. I'm so proud of my mam never giving up. I'm so grateful of this.
Finally I can say that I love Anthrax AND the girl in the video. One of the gorgeous women on earth in a song which is one of the most unexpected, yet creative peak of an insane-speed-tempo group like Anthrax. Too bad it probably was too hard to swallow if you're 14. Luckily I was in mid 20s when I listened it. (Ok, I admit, I'm a fan since '86 :) )
Twin Peaks AND Anthrax. Best combo ever. If Agent Cooper made a cameo or even did backup vocal that'd be it, I would never stop listening to this song.
Great video and song. I feel that the lady in the video suffers from Alzheimer's. I think the gentleman in the video is trying to "bring her back" through the use of the test subjects. Hence, all the picture of the young blond women on the wall at the end.
Great song! Great video! I almost forgot about it. This is a perfect example of why people truly loved music videos were upset when MTV stopped playing videos. Now, instead of seeing thought provoking mini movies over awesome songs, we get... Room Crashers or whatever the frig the name of the crap is.
I disagree sir. Load was a load of something alright. Can't comment on Risk, only heard bits of it in passing. I do agree that White Noise was a fine album though, I wore that cassette out.
Very true. A lot of the songs on this album were Lynch/Twin Peaks inspired... but this one took the most direct approach.
And Angelo Badalamenti, the composer of all the Twin Peaks music [as well as other Lynch film scores], contributed with Anthrax in the writing of this song.
Very cool stuff. I haven't seen this video in over a decade... thank you, alphaboy79.
@donnieandsarah watch the 'Only' video...towards the end..theres Franks face turning around and doing a bunch of crazy shit...if you still dont see it then let me know and Ill get it down to the second for you
My mistake. I was confused by the liner notes of this album that give Angelo Badalamenti (David Lynch's composer) a writing credit for this song. Turns out it was a colaboration. Thanks for correcting.
@danimal97520 So because I don't like Bush I must be an Obama fan? Guess what I don't like Obama either. Oh and it was a joke. Look at you taking things so seriously.
@Nerfball6 Are you on crack? Bush was one of the worst presidents ever. Obama's approval ratings are higher than his were at the end. So no, people don't miss him.
The most telling line: "My love for you knows no distance/But it can't fight your resistance"
I absolutely wore this song out when I first heard it! What I like--in addition to the strong vocals and supporting instrumentation--is how this songs creeps up on you and gets into every fiber of your being.
i remember being a kid and watching headbangers ball on mtv (when it was still a good channel) and always seeing anthrax or alice in chains on it, loved this song.
Does anyone know what is going on here in this video? lol I love this goddamn song, probably their best ever and Anthrax fucking rules period, but what is going on here? lol
it seems to be a theme of eternal youth, or trying to preserve that. very twin peaksish as some have posted. I also wonder if the scene where they abduct the young girl was inspired loosely by the hillside stranglers who plagued hollywood in the late 70's
I believe it's a social commentary on the shallowness of the human condition with regards to the need for external validation of our aesthetics and the vanity that compels some of us. Also, I concur, Anthrax does "fucking rule".
He is attempting to recover her memory by unlocking the mind with another. In other words attempting to add personality that was never there to begin with.
it seems to me that the old rich bitch is trying to relive his young days...
anyway, this song has that Twin Peaks kind of weirdness on it,and even the video, and I think it was co-written with Angelo Badalamenti who actually wrote the music in Twin Peaks. I'm pretty sure about this.
I gotta be honest, I was about 13 when Bush took over, and Sound of White Noise to me is an amazing album. However, I can't really listen to any of the other Anthrax stuff....primarily because of the vocals. Bush brought that (at the time) more modern feel to the band, as opposed to the 80's sound.
Great vid, thx for posting. I remembered there being a cute girl in it, but would've had no idea it was Jenna Elfman...she looks so young there.

Just like Van Halen, 2 different versions of the band both equally good in their own respects. period. Remember the reunion with Belladonna didn't happen because of Belladonna's unwillingness to commit.

I really liked the whole album SOWN. Always thought john Bush was a great singer.
If you get the chance go check out 2 new vids by Baltimore's VSD, recorded live in 1987. VSD- Mental Breakdown and Girl Troubles. Then you can veiw the other 3 videos. Good, heavy music.
I loved all 5 videos by VSD you mentioned. " Girl troubles" had a cool drum intro and "Mental breakdown" had a really catchy guitar riff and vocals. VSD rocks hard.

If you die today are you going to hell or heaven??
did you keep god's 10 commandments???
did you lie??or stole something ?? then you are guilty??
no thief or lair is going to heaven!
But don’t worry that’s why god came down and died on the cross..
He paid your fine for the coming judgement if you repent from your sin
and put your trust in JESUS CHRIST OUR GOD AND SAVIOUR only he can give you eternal life…

i completely agree! I also liked Rob! Any chance you saw their DVD "Music of Mass Destruction"? It's quite good. Rob was hilarious in it!

Symbol of Salvation is better then anything Bush did with Anthrax in the 90's.

I agree. Symbol of Salvation is perfect on every level and is probably what convinced Anthrax to get rid of Joey for John.

VSD rocks hard.

does anyone else get the twin peaks reference? This whole song is based on twin peaks. Someone was obviously a fan lol.

Apparently Angelo Badalamenti even helped write it
