I wouldn't typically waste time pondering such an intellectual waste, but many of my friends have bought this hook line and sinker. It's appalling witnessing this farce of science and philosophy. I looked into the so called physicist that contributed to the secret's "Quantum" basis. He was a physicist that tried to unify physics using a technique (SO(5) groups) that was found insufficient nearly a decade prior to the date of his paper's publication. Positive thought is great, greed sucks.
"The Secret" is just a secular attempt to substitute the wisdom of the Church with the feel good rhetoric of today's secular standards.
Look at Proverbs (for example) and you can find many inspiring examples, which apply to many aspects of our lives. I've compared "The Secret" to the book of Proverbs and found the latter to be superior in terms of truth and relevance.
To all who believe in Jesus, watch zeitgeist, there is true evidence that Christianity is a parody of Egyptian religion. and this man in video, sad how much money costs this or that dvd, but how much money church gets from its believers? tax free income :) the all mighty god just needs money... he just can't handle money...
"Zeitgeist" is a fraud. There are videos that prove that this claim about Christianity is a sham. Just another gimmick by either atheists or occultists to get people to join them.
Perhaps the Egyptians were trying to force and create something that they had the picture of, but without all the pieces? I see your comment was eight months ago, so hopefully by mow you have learned about Jordan Maxwell and his infatuation with Helea Blavitsky. "To all who believe in Jesus, watch Zeitgeist" is not a very compelling argument. I have seen it and upon trying to verify it's claims about Jesus, I have found many errors. Why are people SO angry with Jesus?
No, but rather to know, love and serve our Lord and Creator so that we can be happy with Him for all eternity. Material things are useful. However, contrary to what TV ads say, we don't need even half the things that we 'gotta have'. Possession of material things can not become our hope for happiness. They will not make us happy and the inordinate pursuit of them will distract us from true source of happiness, God. It is a matter of balance.
But we have eternity with God in heaven, so why waste time (sorry i didnt know how else to say it) in praying to him and going to church during our short lives?
No problem with the questions. The key point is that eternity with God is not guaranteed at all. We must live a good life, the foundation of which is our time and effort spent fostering our love for God. Material pursuits are a distraction from this and so can lead to the most incalculable loss. God Bless
I'll put it this way. One of the best days of my life was when i threw away my tv. I've never been happier. If you want a really good perspective on happiness, i would suggest reading Aristotle's Ethics. He explains what role material things play in our happiness. feel free to message me, i would love to talk about it. God Bless
i agree. but then again to me god is a sham too. : ) oh and didnt einstein live the latter part of his life unhappy and frustrated due to not being able to find a unifying theory. i thought he had the secret. musta forgotten it. silly guy.
The idolatry of money and material things in contemporary culture - in the name of maximizing 'pleasure' (vs. happiness) - will perhaps bring about its collapse.
You come into this world with nothing and you will leave this world with nothing. The greatest sham is that you can collect things in this world to make you happy. Everything in this world will ultimately pass away. A significant component of the sham is that this life is all you will have. This temporary life on earth is nothing more than blink of an eye. In he end there is heaven or there is hell for all eternity. It is as simple as that.
So "the Secret" is a pyramid scam based on pseudo-science. The same age that ridicules Medieval man's faith turns to the power of thought waves to make money. Good article, father!

I'm an atheist, but i have to agree with this dude. That movie's ideas are just laughable and they're just trying to make money :D
It doesn't mean that positive thinking is bad tho... self-defeating thinking causes anxiety and all other crap you don't want.

I will tell you a secret. We perceive the world as real precisely because it is NOT completely amenable to our individual desires.

Unhappy as he was, Einsten had a point, and consider that Einstein was a Platonist, in that he believed that there was a perfect theory of sorts.
Besides, for a silly guy, he was quite remarkable in his own ways. After all, Socrates was a little silly too, y'know.
