Defending him is what will hurt him the most, and insulting my playing is not going to help him either. I started teaching when I was 17 and am now 46 I have seen young talent all my life. I was just trying to be helpful. I said he was on the right track did you not see that? I did not insult him i just mad an observation the the leads needed work and not praise. In plain language the lead was horrible and excruciating to watch and listen too. If he is not told that he will never improve.

This kid will be just fine. Rock n roll is not all about hitting the perfect solos and notes. He'll get better as he gets older, but he's got a great start already.

This Song is above his playing level. The lead fills and solo need to be learned and practiced over and over and over and over, before playing in front of a crowd. I see this all the time young people getting told how awesome they are when really the are on the right rack but need to reel it in and perfect there playing. I hope this kid gets the right training.

He played this show and decided he knew all there was and stopped training? No, he has actually got a book on Randy Rhoads and realized that he needed to adjust the solo a bit. He dedicates all of his free time to learning and perfecting his craft. Don't assume you know anything about this kid.

LOVE this! Ryan is a year ahead of my youngest daughter and 2 years behind my oldest. I've been seeing him perform at the elem. school's talent shows since he was in Kindergarten. Ryan is totally being who he is and I think it's fabulous if he knows the path he wants to take in life. You gotta do what you love and he clearly loves what he does. AND...Ryan is a great kid.
