Wal-Mart hires as few workers as possible because that increases the store manager's bonus, and every time a full-time associate leaves, they eliminate the position and hire two part-timers to do the job. You can't get health care for a full year (as opposed to 90 days most places), and even then you can't afford it because you're working part-time for a low wage. The managers are hypocrites. They'll pick you apart and then turn around and do the same thing they criticized you for.

That being said, find a phone, and punch in #678 (or *678, i can't quite remember, but I think it's #) and you will be on the store-wide intercom. Enjoy.

actually there's no real reason to hate walmart, the benifits plan is decent all companies make you wait to qualify. The money isn't great but you can get a raise relatively quick. You can even buy into the stock as soon as you start. A few stores got in trouble for unpaid overtime but that's completely resolved. You can trace a lot of shit in your house back to sweat shop labor, it's not great true, but those kids/people get paid the best in their country, and it feeds their families.
I'm curious as to if he's ever worked at Wal-Mart. It sounds like he just watched that movie and has no real experience. That waiting 2 years to qualify for healthcare is a myth.. You're eligiable for limited healthcare that covers non-routine doctor's visits and prescriptions. Part time employees sometimes have to wait 2 years unless it's open enrollment time. I worked there for 2 years and didn't get screwed. It's better than having no job at all. It's also better than being a security guard.
Here's a fun fact with Wal-Mart, you can return anything under 20 dollars without having the receipt. Ergo, you can go in and steal something around 20 dollars, and then take it to customer service, and I cant remember if they give you store credit or pay you the dollar amount, but either way, its fun (also, not sure if it's still like that, or if its all locations, but worth a shot, chances are they'll just think you lost the receipt and you'll have to leave with your stolen property.)

But poorly thought out also because they mark with the sticker when you come in the door, and have cameras that would see that you didn't come from outside of the store with the merchandise. Wal-Mart hires as few workers as possible because that increases the store manager's bonus, and every time a full-time associate leaves, they eliminate the position and hire two part-timers to do the job. You can't get health care for a full year (as opposed to 90 days most places), and even then you can't afford it because you're working part-time for a low wage. The managers are hypocrites. They'll pick you apart and then turn around and do the same thing they criticized you for.

ummm no child labor is not what any bussiness does. and my old jobs were handled way diff. i even worked for the gov. and for a small maker of test equipt. for airbus. never once did they do anything like what walmart does. and you know what the small company went big due to hard work and no outsourcing.

eh i work at walmart.i get paid 8.80 and im going to school. only ppl who dont get paid low are new cashiers and cart pushers everyone else makes over 7.60 and after three months they get either a 50cent or 40 cent raise and everyone treats everyone else great..duno bout other walmarts but ours is great and majority of items in our store are made in the U.S

Hey guys. I used to work at Walmart, and I know that in the store I was working the intercom phones were ALWAYS unattended, no one was ever nearby. That being said, find a phone, and punch in #678 (or *678, i can't quite remember, but I think it's #) and you will be on the store-wide intercom. Enjoy.

My salary: 7.45/hr
Min Wage in 2008 for WV: 6.55/hr
They will not let you work more than 40 hours a week. Nor will they let you work three 40 hr weeks in a row. That said, the annual income I bring in is LESS than 15,000
The Store Manager makes 70,000 - 100,000 a year
I think the owner makes 300,000
In the case of our store, there are WAY more women in charge than men. The store owner is a woman.

The workers that work there a pretty disgusting, meaning their behaviour. They just walk around ignore you and make you feel like a criminal for buying products there. It's no wonder they're paid what their paid. I hope no one works there as a career. It's just a stepping stone hopefully or a second job. As far as the third world countries are concerned at least they have a job, otherwise they could be starving without a job.

actually there's no real reason to hate walmart, the benifits plan is decent all companies make you wait to qualify. The money isn't great but you can get a raise relatively quick. You can even buy into the stock as soon as you start. A few stores got in trouble for unpaid overtime but that's completely resolved. You can trace a lot of shit in your house back to sweat shop labor, it's not great true, but those kids/people get paid the best in their country, and it feeds their families.

I'm curious as to if he's ever worked at Wal-Mart. It sounds like he just watched that movie and has no real experience. That waiting 2 years to qualify for healthcare is a myth.. You're eligiable for limited healthcare that covers non-routine doctor's visits and prescriptions. Part time employees sometimes have to wait 2 years unless it's open enrollment time. I worked there for 2 years and didn't get screwed. It's better than having no job at all. It's also better than being a security guard.

Here's a fun fact with Wal-Mart, you can return anything under 20 dollars without having the receipt. Ergo, you can go in and steal something around 20 dollars, and then take it to customer service, and I cant remember if they give you store credit or pay you the dollar amount, but either way, its fun (also, not sure if it's still like that, or if its all locations, but worth a shot, chances are they'll just think you lost the receipt and you'll have to leave with your stolen property.)

which is not only stupid and immoral from the standpoint that it would continue to contribute to the lost merchandise cost added to the price of goods. But poorly thought out also because they mark with the sticker when you come in the door, and have cameras that would see that you didn't come from outside of the store with the merchandise. I wouldn't be suprised if this is a ploy to get people to do it and get caught for what reason i don't know.

The only proper ethics for a business is to make as much money as it can, so long as those methods don't infringe on the rights of others...and I'm not saying this as if it's a bad thing.
By the way, where would this Fred Johnson be if Wal-Mart wasn't there? The pay might suck, but the reason for anyone being in business is to make a living for themselves. Creating jobs and valuable products for other people is what comes out of that ambition, but it's not the sole reason for their existence.
