My bet is that no deal will pass in time and Republicans will push Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling. That way they can say to their base that they didn't raise it without significant cuts, that they didn't cut SS or Medicare, and that Democrats would rather over-reach their power rather than cut spending.

It was Boner crying on the House floor for his republican comrades to bail out the banks. Dems wanted oversight so the banks would use the money for loans. Yet, teachers get screwed on their contracts because repubs don't think teachers work hard.

My bet is that no deal will pass in time and Republicans will push Obama to invoke the 14th Amendment to raise the debt ceiling. That way they can say to their base that they didn't raise it without significant cuts, that they didn't cut SS or Medicare, and that Democrats would rather over-reach their power rather than cut spending.

Cenk says, and most people here, including me, agree, that the way to go is to restore an, at least, Regan era progressive tax (The rich paid more under Regan then they do now), and reduce the military spending. The US military budget is about as high as all the rest of the world combined and there's simply no enemy to justify that.

The entire point of the repetition is to be absolutely sure that nothing different happens. The idea of repetition expecting change being insanity is based on a mentality of "It will work this time" when there is no evidence that there will be any change.

I have a feeling someone up there is pretty much interested to default and crush USA. Think about it, those rich guys have probably invested in Asian and European stocks, if their main rivalry (USA) get crushed, they can blame it on politicians, like that black guy Obama and the rest who are striving to get their work done, while the rich would see their investments in Asia, Europe (even probably Russia) skyrocket. Who cares about people anymore????
