Chinese have always been as smart as the europeans. China wasn`t interested so much in modernizing weapons. @SuperVietnam1994 So is Egypt and Afghanistan and so was Zaire and so is Pakistan, not all US-friends are worth the investments that US does..and working hard is not everything in an computerized age..many poeple in the third world work very long hours and can barely sustain themselves..its what and how you do thing that matters..and what you do..just hard work does n t mean automatic progress..and machines have taking over many labour work-jobs and also outsourcing to cheaper places...

But that is because of the leadership. But the Chinese also wouldn`t become better if they were a democracy. In a country where such a lot people live as in China cannot offer a Luxus-Life for every Chinese also not in a democracy.

@SuperVietnam1994 And also, the money of german big business(Bosch,Siemens,IG-Farben etc) that were deposited in Switzerland during the war, were repatriated by the germans and invested in the post-war west german boom..as the japanese right-wing extreme yakuzas and industrialist used looted wealth to invest in Japans post-war boom, with US knowledge of course, to fight japanese communism.

Japan used the first 5 years after war planed economy. Japan got an anti communist partner from US at the beginning of the Korea war but this was 1950 and not 1945.

@SuperVietnam1994 You can have 5-year plans for a thousen years if you don t have money(investment) or outside help you can t do anything....USA could have keept both Japan and Germany ruined and poor if they wanted...and USA has always tried to contain communism...and only the US had the kind of money to help huge,ruined economies the size of Germany or Japan after 1945..the USSR was nothing except a military superpower despite the USSR have all sort of raw materials.

The Japanese become successful because of their own people not because of US. It depens on the population. The countires in South Europe are not as rich as Germany, Austria or the Scandaniva. That`s because the south european people are very nice but they do not have such goods economical results because they are more lazy. Japan become successful because of a motivated population and a good and peaceful leadership after 1945 the US help was just a start-help but not the result.

First of all. Germany was the agressor. Hitler was attacking Stalin and not Stalin was attacking Hitler. The Soviets sacrificied a lot people for stoping the cruel Nazi-Regime. The Soviet Fight against Nazi-Germany had a big influence ont he Second Worldwar. The US joined both wars after a few year. The British, French and the Soviets sacraficied more people but the americans do like they would have the two worldwars alone.

First of all. In ancient times there were only two countries in Europe which were really interested in science. The old greeks and the ancient romanians. The whole other part of Europe for example Germany were full of white and uneducated tribes like the tribes in germania. In the Orient were a lot of smart cultures at this times. Babylon, Persia-Emprie and so on. Many knowledge about science came from the Orient to Europe.
