@pinoyblues69 on basis of originality and the ability to constantly remain ahead of the current trends, setting them in many cases. For me I can see why but honestly I'm partial to Lennon and Dylan but he is not that far from them though, I would honestly put him in a class all his own. When they ask you what genre of music you listen to, just say "Bowie", that's all you need to say! :)

Bowie is greatness but then again, so was the cat with the idea, title, vocals and guitar for this classic. ... Lennon was given a co-writing credit due to the lyrics (bemoaning the nature of celebrity) being inspired by conversations he had with Bowie on the subject, and because Bowie acknowledged that Lennon singing "Fame!" over Alomars guitar riff was the catalyst for the song. The songwriting credit list order is David Bowie, Carlos Alomar, and John Lennon.

The other guys may be givin credit ( which they deserved!) but David Bowie really knows how to perform it. I don't think the song writers should get as much credit as the singer unless it was their song to begin with. Bowie should get most of the credit for this.
