  • I would Love to see a modified Vortec 4200 put into a lightened C6 Corvette. It would be the modern "Blue Flame Six"! It would be fitting, because before the V8's, all the first Corvettes were straight-6 powered after all.

  • Incredible sound! Goosebumps! I love Straight-6!

  • @Rafaelluizs Internet research seems to suggest otherwise about where the Opala name was derived from.

  • wow, I seen that one guy's comment about hateing I-6s' what would make someone hate an I6? I love an I6, if its running the right way. I just love that sound, theyr simple engines, easy to upgrade if the parts are available or if your able to fabricate your own stuff.. I favor the style of head where intake and exhaust ports are on opposite sides. thats all just my opinion, but what could make a man hate an I-6?? lol a 4-banger I could see...

  • @WheresMyXR8 The answer to your question is very simple.Ignorance.

  • that things got some power... but a 60 whatever nova wagon is not supposed to sound like that :P

  • where did you get the turbo from? I would like one for my I6 4200 Trailblazer.. Thanks for any help

  • @rick1garcia There's currently no turbo kits for the 4.2,this one is a custom one,you can find a lot of info on Trailvoy.

  • Cool, an Atlas 4200. Always wondered if there was performance to be had in those motors.

  • We have one. Don't talk shit bout this engine kause the tourque and power are unbelieveable for its size

  • This is really cool! Sounds nice!

  • @zhoudunyi if any OHV v8 loses to a flathead 6,they fucked along the way.that or they're in a class that horribly handicaps the v8s

  • The LL8 is a very interesting motor, I really want to swap it into something like a 240sx (since these things are everywhere).

  • so sick of hearing about 2jz motors. ill just keep with my american v8.

  • Wonder if any of these came equipped with an m90 from the factor?

  • i see a lot of 2jz bashing going on here, but this engine sounds so much like one! the 2jz has been proven people, however this engine is impressive too.

  • @brg73 why do you hate I-6?

  • @A4rings

because that I-6 or any I-6 for that matter will rip the shit out of anything he has....Sounds like he is jealous of the good ol I-6....I have a 65 Chevy C20 Pickup that had the 292 I-6...He replaced it with a GM Goodwrench 350 V8...But kept the 6... He passed away some years ago before I bought the truck....And his wife was handling his affairs.. I expressed interest in the original engine with the deal...She just gave it to me..It still runs great...The 350 in the truck does too

  • @A4rings

But who could ever hate on an straight 6? AWESOME motors...Can do so much with them....and they look and sound cool to boot. Great for Hot Rods.

  • @scott93257 for high revs and big power an inline 6 could have trouble with a flexing/twisting crankshaft.

I know BMW had problems with the M30 crankshaft in their 70's racing engines, it limited power up top.

a 4 banger and a V8 have nice short and tough cranks. Less problems there.

That said i love the sound of inline 6 engines!

  • Been curious what would happen is this happened and it most likely has in race engines were sometimes you have to slap the together fast for the next round, what if you accidentally put two diff cam in a once. I'm sure it would run id the cam specs were only slightly different but what if one cam had a lot of duration and lift and the other was for low end torque and both in at one time, any ideas?

  • @daytonpaul The 1st 28 words of your post were a struggle for me,as for you,I see.LOL.Unique theory nonetheless once I delved deeper into your querry.

    I have 1 4 u.What if you went to work with a sneaker on 1 foot,,,,,and a flip-flop on the other (socks would be optional)?Any Ideas?ROFLMAO.

Do u work on special science projects for the government?Or for FORD?ROFLMAO.

  • Not bad, for a Non-Mopar.

  • American inline 6s are so underated.

  • Yeah John Cunningham!

  • Such a unique sound to inline 6's. Am wanting to put a similar setup, but with a manual into a 280zx I am building.

  • Angry bees

  • Way to shoot a video without dropping your beer.

  • I'm an import guy, but Chevs/GMCs are always awesome. That car is a beast. Inline 6s are the best.

  • that engine belongs in a fucking trailblazer!

  • Pfft. Coulda fooled me, then. ;)

  • you can put any engine in any car, depends on how much cash you got

  • Was this car ever in Las Vegas? I sold one exactly like it (different engine).

  • How about the oil pan does it clear the steering ..I got 63 chevyII and like the idea of the 4200 VORTEC ..any thing i need to know before a tradeout

  • Simply unbolt the factory strut-tower front end,(15 bolts IIRC), and shove it to the side. Then bolt on a Heidt's/ChassisWorks front end with a Mustang II style rack and pinion front end. Frees up all kinds of space, maintains an alignment, and does away with all of the bumpsteer issues of the factory setup. Well worth the investment.

  • thats How My brothers BB is nice front end a LOT safer But this engine is so light it helps the orignal desine so much great engine car matchup but do do the Mustan II front end

  • hey really intresting set up i run a old school 250 inline would like to turbo it now that i seen ur ride thats fast nothing the buzzin half dozen good job please post more vids of this car

  • i have one in my suv haha

  • straight sixes = cheap and strong and easily made into fire breathing beasts!

  • laughable

  • yep its good lil motor, cheap too, check ebay , thinkin about puttin one in a old 91 benz

  • @32ROCKET32

As in Mercedes Benz? What the hell? Just find a M103, they are a dime a dozen.

  • i think that sounded better that most supras

  • John,

can you post a video from the Hot Rod power tour?

Or any other videos of this car?

What has been the fastest time?

    Thanks

  • The 4.2 I6 is a serious piece. It won the baja in it's class racing against v8s. This will be a nice swap for any pony car.

  • SICK!!!! I should do that to my Nova Wagon!

    hahaha in my dreams!

  • !?!?!?!?!?! Why isnt ppl building more of these?!?!?!?! it think this settles it im yankin the v8 outa my formula and droppin in one of these bad boys

  • Supra guys should all be forced to watch this video before working on their first 2JZ.

  • This is the best comment ever! Mostly because its the cold hard truth. haha

  • to me the 2jz and RB motors are crap compared to this and this might be a bigger engine but it is still lighter

  • Is that true? What about its size? think it'd fit in a Supra? hmm...

  • with some modefication ya probaly supras are not realy small cars and this is an all alluminum engine compared to the 2jz alluminum heads an cast iron block and it it took twin turbos just to get it over 300hp stock

  • @grenade350 Do not ruin a Supra with this. Even though "zman6033" might be retarded enough to believe the 4.2 vortec is better than the 2JZ GTE, doesn't mean that you have to. The 2JZ GTE has been dynoed at over 1000bhp on stock internals.

  • Umm...

who the fuck cares about stock?

And in any event, how would this engine ruin a Supra? We've established that it has terriffic power potential, and is actually lighter than your precious 2jzs. So it'd be an improvement!

btw is your username a reference to a Pokemon? lol

  • So you're saying that the Copper Celica run by Titanmotorsports putting out 2100hp+ out of a 2JZ engine isn't terrific power potential? Glorify it all you want, it isn't better than the 2JZ.

And no, it isn't a reference to a Pokemon, get your facts correct.

  • @Arcticun the american motor is cheper

  • Cheaper to purchase perhaps. Overall, if you're going for brute strength, the 2JZ is cheaper to tune the shit out of and the durability of it pays off.

  • @Arcticun maybe the vortec hasnt been proven yet but i know a good built 2jz is like 15k

  • Odd, seeing as our company worked on a 2JZ Supra, dyno'ed at 1042hp and the total price of it was £8257.32. Minus the work hours.

  • 32Rocket being in the US, 8257 pounds is far over 15,000 USD.

  • @Arcticun you got to look at it this way. the 2jz came out in the early 90's so its had 20 years of gearheads experimenting on it to make numbers like that. im not knockin em cuz supras are ill as fuk, but this motor has just started to really be tweaked on and i garuntee with the one piece forged style main cap that this motor has it too will be reaching numbers like that in the near future

  • @grenade350

    EXACTLY!!!!

  • @grenade350 lol

  • BAD ASS!!!! wow i think i just got dizzy. BuZzIn HALF DuZzIn!!!

  • Modern I6 + Vintage Steel = Awesome.

  • That's sick.

*starts contemplating a Pontiac Tempest Sprint using the same engine*

  • Ahhh! That thing sounds crazy!

  • Now if only i could have that exact same engine in my trailblazer eh??

  • how much HP is that making

  • I WOULD IMAGINE ABOUT 650-700

  • Finally made 1400

  • is that hp @ the wheels?

  • That thing has a beautiful sound to it and stupid quick. More boost and fuel it's 8 seconds baby!!

  • of course not

  • i need some info from the people who built that motor

  • 9.32,huh..??Cool..6 in a row,makes it go.

  • HAHAHA LOL! OK
