I think for a coloratura with a light voice, Eb vs. E natural doesn't make too much difference. And it sounds like she has room to spare up there. Lovely!
it's just the old tuning christie uses...it was lower back then, Harnoncourt plays Mozart in a 427Hz tuning all the time, it's not exactly a half step, it would be around 415Hz, as in standard baroque tuning.
Lovely, lovely. Listening to this aria in other performances, I stumbled on this one. It sounded different somehow, and I read the comments that it's in E-flat instead of E. E-flat sounds darker and richer, E brighter. I'll vote for E-major for this aria, it suits the music better. A great singer, no matter what the key.
Impressive vocal agility and ease of expression, even if it is a semitone lower than scored. A delightful rendition, never sounding belted or labored. I have never heard of this singer before listening to this.
I wish someone could post the live stage performance of this aria, The gestures that Patricia Petibon is doing while singing is hilarious and super cute!!
This is very well sung, but she's doing it a half step flat! E flat is infinitely easier than E natural. I wish I had the option to lower it by a half step. :)
hm, it depends on the voice. D6 till Fis6 is passagio-area like one octava below. And I´ve heared her singing superbe E´s so I guess it´s just the key she prefers or the whole tessitura suits her more.
I really love watching this performance, the 2003 production of Die Entfuhrung aus dem Serail with Patricia Petibon was absolutely gorgeous and she is a very skillful actress. You should try to watch it if you ever get a chance.
i really dont know ive tried to find it online, it used to be on youtube but they took it off, they play it on tv sometimes but its hard to catch and idk what channel its on
