  • I remember how much this song blew my mind when it first came out. And its still EPIC!!!!

  • godly

  • "Fruit tasting bitter and lead in the air, butcher the womb and expect her to bear." What a line. That and, "Out of the virus, immunity comes."

  • Killing Joke is simply the greatest band in the world.

  • i am a also an E.L.P fan as much as K.J. .... i never thought of a comparison though!!

  • I can see where Skinny Puppy got their inspration from..................besides Emerson lake and Palmer.

  • @ToBeFedVideos i think its safe to say alot of industrial and punkier acts were heavily inspired by them, everyone from Big Black and The Pixies to NIN and Ministry enjoyed their music

  • OMG, these guys were SO far ahead of their time. As someone noted below, this is still challenging circa 2011. Still fresh, still brilliant. Amazing stuff.

  • Been listening to Killing joke since 1980. Sadly, they don't make tracks like this anymore...............

  • @tanpiltanpil They do youre just looking in the wrong places :)

  • @xane3 fucking where? don't be a cocktease like that!!! what contemporary bands are this good?

  • @xane3 bands from the past 10,11 years this good? definitely not dude. dont lie to us like that, im not one of those older people saying "this crap you young kids today like!...." I thought the 90's had alot of nice creative artists, but after that music has gone down the shitter, MCR, Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, dont even get me started on indie rock crap either

  • @hellchild65 I wasnt refering to the mainstream. Why does a gnerations music have to be defined by whats popular lol. There are plently good underground bands .

  • @xane3 ok, then i can agree with you in that area. i wish that was the case, that a generations music isnt defined by whats popular, but most underground bands never do and never will get the recognition they deserve.

  • The first side of this LP is probably too much to bear even for 2011. Amazing

  • Although not one of KJ's most famous or obviously 'big' songs, this particular song had a big effect on me as a songwriter. I've always loved contrasts of ugliness with glimpses of beauty (the latter occuring in the instrumental 'chorus' of "Butcher", giving a feeling of hope.......)

  • @nickfloodban you clearly have good taste and if this floats your boat then you have a great stepping stone to move on from and would love to hear your music if this is a reflection onto you. lets go!!

  • @bingsy100

Thanks for your kind comment. You could Google for Separation Circle- or you could search here for Separation Circle or Where Brick Fields Lay or Glass Bubble Home perhaps.

  • @bingsy100 Thank you kindly for your comment. My awful music varies from mildly irritating right through to damn right annoying. Search for the Separation Circle if you can be bothered ;-)

  • brutally brilliant.

  • Being of a certain age (over 40) they were at this point the absolute tits, by far their best album. In 1981 they were also probably one of the best bands live

  • @typejunky I agree, its the kj album i play most often, strong all the way through.

  • John Peel session (27-4-81) version of this better. Less hiss; and it's got a brilliant vocal take.

  • I was a little dissapointed by 'Democracy' but listening to this has convinced me to get more Killing Joke :P

  • THAT AWFUL BUZZING! When this album first come out I took it to a party, this track was played over and over again and everyone was sniffing bags of evo-stick glue....THAT AWFUL BUZZING! It still haunts me!

  • @Loobs666 I always bring music to parties and no one ever plays them :(

  • @KurtMcGowan Try taking some Glue... or at push, Heroin! Makes the soiree swing a treat! (chuckle)

  • @Loobs666 So I drug all my friends up so they like my music? Sounds like a plan.

  • Hey, I bought this album when I was 18. Someone stole it at a party.

I haven't heard this song since then. It was pretty rad. at the time,

  • @Funkussionist Still pretty rad now

  • How relevant this still is!! ... "The liars are out, they have all the assets;

Crawling for oil, they were bleeding for gold."...

  • This song as a fashionable glitter creepiness quality. One of my faves from the album.

  • M A S T E R P I E C E

  • Watching the decoys of all description

    Sparkle of colour creating diversion

The liars are out - they have all the assets

Crawling for oil they were bleeding for gold

Fruit tasting bitter and lead in the air

Butcher the womb and expect her to bear

  • Thank you for posting this! My favourite Killing Joke song

  • this song and its the album is just super young, my father listened to Killing Joke when he was a few years he gave me a CD of them and even I found it great because usually I only hear the heavy metal only that I like and I wanted to Just to say that this band is just amazing

  • How lucky you were when you were young !! This band is indeed completely amazing, and if I am not a big fan of the album What's THIS for...!, this song is totally awesome :P
