  • SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME THE NAME OF THE PORCUPINE SONG!!!! seriously...

  • @opethinchains Way out of here :)

  • Someone turn that music down so one can actually hear what Steve says(!)

  • audio levels need to be adjusted on this...

  • Goddamn, the music in the background is distracting.

  • well I rephrase, the song is good, but it shouldn't be there, or that loud in relation to the voice.

  • retarded song in the background, idiot.

  • What? Can't hear anything, just mumbling and WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OOOOOOUT. :'( Now he laughed, but i didn't. Failvideo.

  • whats the song?, i cant hear it and i cant hear steven wilson...

  • @pennydreadful1 what's you favourite 3 songs by Opeth?

  • I love you.

  • This interview is one of the few times when I do not want to listen to Porcupine Tree's music

  • Opeth and Porcupine Tree are amazingly diverse, quit comparing them.

  • I agree, the music's too distracting :o|

  • Nothing can ever come close to approaching the brilliance that Still Life is.

  • Man, you guys are deaf.

Hell I can understand a majority of it, and I'm pretty sure I'm going deaf.

  • @ShdowSora thats 'cuz English is your native language. For non-native speakers is hard to understand with that loud background

  • i can't hear shit

  • cant even hear what hes saying

  • Way out of Here is ONE of my fav PT songs!! MEZZZZMORIZZZZING!!!!!! LUV IT!!! :D

  • the song is way out of here by porcupine tree on their fear of a blank planet album

  • what song is playing?

  • what song is this??

  • Wow, couldn't agree more. I've been an Opeth fan for years, and discovered Gavin Harrison on you tube....and being a drummer, of course he blew my mind. I learned that he was Porcupine Tree's drummer by mistake. I prefer Opeth....but now that I've figured out the relationship between the two bands....that's it, I think I need to give Porcupine Tree another look. Awesome to learn something new....and have it all make such perfect sense.....of course Michael and Steven would be drawn together.

  • @razorboysavenger666 opeth has a wider range of music of course and talent wise im not sure who is better. but i have to agree that opeth is better

  • @guitar7901 Sorry, but I think Porcupine Tree has a wider range of music.

  • @rymcmanus That is so far from true its not even funny. Opeth goes from light prog to pure death metal, while Porcupine Tree is just strictly one genre, i'm not saying that is bad but Opeth has a WAYYYYY wider range of music its not even argueable

  • @guitar7901 They are not strictly one genre. They take influences from alittle of everything. IndustriaI, pop, ambient, electronica, psychedelic rock(very much so). And I think they move more fluently between heavy parts and gentle. With Opeth the death metal parts could just jump in. With PT its very smooth almost like if done by a classical composer. Also Åkerfeldts compositional style consists very much of bricks of dense repeated riffs sequenced after another. PT sounds more agile.

  • @PennyDreadful1 listen to the song lotus eater by Opeth and listen to the whole thing. They do some pretty funky stuff with that like haveing the clean vocals on the heavier part and the death vocals on the lighter part. Im not saying PT is bad, Opeth does a wayy larger variety of styles and you really cannot argue that seeing how PT does not do any prog death at all.

  • @guitar7901 Lets see what Storm Corrosion will sound like.

  • All y'all niggas are deaf

    lol

    Awesome interview :)

  • @d0r1705 lol

  • I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING.

What brilliant genius decided to mix in some music inside?

  • Whoever ruined this interview should be shot.

  • I can't hear shit

  • oh i love how some prog fans are so convinced that they are the smarter folk but have the same retarded comments as every other youtube vids.

opeth and porcupine tree are both good, because steven wilson would never work together with a band that is not good, and the same goes for mikael akerfeldt.

and opeth didnt always just play metal, they always combined it with prog rock. damnation is a prog rock album, its not metal at all.

  • no, porcupine tree are definitely better than opeth

they really evolved played various music styles from psychadelic music to pop rock to progressive metal

    Opeth just always played metal

and their only really good album is Damnation, which ironically, was produced by Wilson

  • @gogolplex74

"Their only really good album is Damnation", man, what a poor misguided soul you are. Blackwater Park and Still Life as two of the best albums ever made. Ghost Reveries is amazing, Watershed has fantastic moments. You just don't prefer the heavier style, that's apparent, that doesn't make one band "better." (This is coming from somebody who is a GIANT fan of Porcupine Tree AND Opeth).

  • @NakedDeluxe94 I'm not talking only about style

Yes, I preffer mellow and less agresive style much more, but when I briefly listen to some discography, all songs sound identical to me

however, that doesn't happen when I listen to PT

  • @gogolplex74

have you listened to 2 or 3 opeth's song next to each other

each of them are a different journey spoken by the same narrator

i couldn't explain it more for you, but i think you're simply a lost case

    peace

  • @gogolplex74 Opeth's music is better than PT.

  • @TheMrAdax its a matter of preference, i love both equally.

  • @gogolplex74 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    Most. Retarded. Comment. Ever.

  • @gogolplex74

and just metal and damnation the best.... it's just pure ignorance that statement

as you mentioned some styles that influenced and helped porcupine tree to evolve, there are different styles that also did the same with opeth, the thing is that you haven't listened and just started to talk, or you're ignorant and don't recognize different styles

i could say that you're not able to listen the difference between death and doom metal, and obviously not another music type in opeth's

  • I can't hear shit because of the music. Lol.

  • I can't hear Steven! F!

  • Porcupine Tree is better than Opeth

  • @gogolplex74 And you're the right person to compare them?

  • @Kiriyawa and who is?

  • @gogolplex74 Nobody. And that's the point.

  • @gogolplex74 you have down syndrome

  • @triviumecj no

  • @triviumecj It's called asperger

  • WTF can't hear what he's saying over the music.

  • Very, very, very stupid mix... VERY...

  • whats the song at 0:02 please!!! cheers

  • @RuZzaM You probably figured it out by now, but just in case its "Way Out of Here".

  • Opeth didn't need Steven Wilson. Still Life is way better than BWP.

  • @TheMrAdax Nah I actually preferred BWP :P

That's my favorite album of all time

  • @CydoniaKnight1 I think both albums are fucking awesome! :D

  • Why the blood rush.

Find the music for free and enjoy.

Everyone wants everything there and then - work for it!

  • do you want me to listen to the interview or the music? WTF??

  • This is fail. Most speakers don't have volume knobs for each channel; this is an unlistenable vid for both audio channels where most viewers have fixed volume controls for both channels.

  • God I love this man...

  • Holy shit, someone seriously fucked this up.

  • Can someone seriously reupload this video? It isn't balanced at all.

  • No matter what I do, even with my own personal audio driver menu, I cannot fix this equalization.

  • @JBT24 No, it does't work at all...

  • Nope, can't understand anything.

    Would like to though.

  • to 138 ppl : "way out of here"

  • This is frustrating.. I even did what he advised, but the music is still too loud to hear anything Steven says

  • Or everybody could quit complaining about doing the slightest amount of work. It's not like the uploader made this video personally, so why are they held accountable for everyone's laziness?

  • Repost with music removed, dumb ass

  • GAD, TURN OFF DE DAMN MUSIC! YOU DONT EARN ANYFING BY ADVERSING HIS SONG, MÅDDERFÅKKER.

  • haha my mac is clever. I can hear everything :)

  • here's a little advice for all you angry folk: the audio track is balanced, so if you turn down the volume on your right speaker, and up on the left you only get steven wilson... (start > control panel > sounds, speech > sound scheme > volume > speaker volume, ok)

    you're welcome :-)

  • @lustavagyok i dont think windows vista or windows 7 offers balance control. DX

  • @lustavagyok but we shouldn't need to do that for a you tube video.

  • @lustavagyok .. or just POST something meant to be heard rather then tweaked! you see the important thing about interviews is what the person being interviewed has to say. If you can't hear that . it's a waste .. Turn the music level down or ditch it!

  • @lustavagyok how about a little production advice instead .. an Interview is meant to be heard. So make it EASY to hear .. instead of having to TWEAK things ...

  • @lustavagyok you'd think they actually paid money to watch it...how dare you FORCE THEM to watch your video and cause an 8 minute interruption in their precious time.

  • @lustavagyok Sorry but this is a dumb idea to add music track on this, we don't want to hear music we want to hear him speak about his music. Reload it please.

  • @lustavagyok It doesn't work at all...

  • @lustavagyok

Doesn't work.... :( Stil interesting vid.

  • @lustavagyok thanks you saved my arse xD

  • @lustavagyok yeah but you shouldnt need to do all of that because the retard who posted the video shouldnt have had the track playing over him talking in the first place

  • @lustavagyok My right speaker is broken and the music is still way to loud, i don't like you.

  • @lustavagyok here's my reasoning for being upset: i shouldn't have to do that!

  • ITS ROADRUNNERS FAULT, NOT THE GUY WHO UPLOADED IT.

    LEARN TO INFER.

  • fuck i can't hear what he's saying...shot down the music!!

  • english is my second language... and with that fucking music i cant understand shit!!!!

  • I can barely hear what he's saying! it'd be interesting, mix it again please

  • i love how the background music makes what he's saying so easy to hear

  • @ the guy who uploaded this. -

If you thought it was a good idea to mix these tracks on each other, you've achieved two things:

    1. You've Pissed the people who wanted to listen to Steven Wilson by playing the song

    2. Youve pissed the people who wanted to listen to Way out of here by putting a track of someone talking while the song is playing...

How can you expect someone to listen to this when presented this way?

  • @bubu600b2 its the way roadrunneruk mixed it. Not the individual uploader so before you start being a jackass take that into consideration.

  • my video was taken down by Porcupine Tree LTD. It was a shitty quality phone quality movie of their concert in LA. Pathetic. I bought their albums, I paid for the concert. Fuck you. Signed, a former fan.

  • @jahmbo Dude, real fans know Steven's stance on the modern music culture. Sure, it's too bad that they took it down from YT, but it's not like they made you erase it from your camera and pay a fine. Anyway, no one enjoys watching other people's shitty quality phone films of live concerts. Signed, a real fan.

  • @jahmbo That was probably done by a corporation or record label that owns the rights to the Porcupine Tree brand. Don't expect Steve Wilson to check out whole Youtube in order to find some shitty-filmed (no offence) live registrations so he can turn them down. He got better things to do with his life.

  • dude if they make that side project, ill die of over orgasm.

  • Since I can't listen to what SW is saying, I'll make comments about him:

    He looks good all dressed up!! :}

  • background music is to fucking loud

  • Well the editor must have : porcupine-Tree-deaf-hobia

  • What song is played in the last 16 seconds?

  • Comment removed

  • @AVH48

  • @gtizzle101 It´s a Porcupine Tree song, Way Out of Here, from the album Fear of a Blank Planet. =)

  • IDIOT, CAN'T HEAR HIM!

  • Fuck whoever edited this video.. What r u, deaf to music??

  • Why is the volume of the fucking music louder than his fucking voice?!?!?!?!?! HUH?!?!?!?!

  • couldn't listen to both steven speaking and apparently nice background song at the same time, you'll have to do 2 clips, one with the interview and one with the music - so people can enjoy it. Wasted 2 minutes trying to listen and gave up.

  • They should rename this video ''Way Out of Here on Opeth''.

  • @nhonho23 Pahahahaha spot on

  • Could not understand a word behind the background music....holy hell

  • Im seeing them next week at the Warfield >< cant wait

  • @keithblabbermouth or an Opeth Tree.

  • I love Way out of Here, but it's too loud, i can't here the interview :/

  • FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU

  • what the fuck I can't even hear the music with that interview in the background...if I wanted to hear an interview, I would go listen to one.

  • Even though the background music is amazing, you can't hear the interview.

  • Too long, didn't listen.

    Seriously tl;dr

  • word of the day on urbandictionary

  • If I want to hear Steven Wilson talking about Opeth, I'll click on a video called Steven Wilson on Opeth.

If I want to listen to music, I'll listen to music.

    Retards

  • @essengeebee hey man can u or tell me what the 1st song they are playing is?

  • @cRazyShark00589 the only song playing in this video is called "Way Out Of Here" it is repited twice

  • OMG. I can't even try to listen to this - it is far too frustrating.

  • Can't even hear him ¬_¬

  • wow, porcupine tree and opeth would be great together, just wow

  • the background music is pretty annoying...

  • This is video brings great irritation. I think it's an interesting matter how the two bands got together - Opeth and Porcupine are my two favourite bands, but why the hell does "Way Out Of Here" have to play in the fucking back - no I agree with Brimstone foreground. I gave up listening to this interview though the subjects is cool :/.

  • It isn't even background music, it's foreground music. It's background interview. Get it right, faggots.

  • Background music? i'm pretty sure it's not "background" anymore if the volume is 50/50.

    Fucking retarded.

  • i keep finding this link and clicking it, thinking it will be interesting, then i remember this is the shitty video with the background music ruining the content. fuck you person who made this.

  • goddamnit fucking background music

  • That background music is fucking awesome. Porcupine tree! Get better speakers.

  • fuck the back roun music goddamn. who the fuck decided to do that

  • anal sex

  • what's this recorded with the cams default mic ffs?

  • I stopped watching this video because couldn't hear anything due to the background music was too loud.

  • For fuck sake this is ridiculous, what's the point if we can't hear him

  • Can't hear a g'damn thing!! Whoever made this is a bloody idiot!

  • Opeth and Porcupine Tree = The future of REAL music.

  • agreed about the background music on all counts. BUT... does anyone know what song this is?

  • @PastyMook Way Out Of Here - Porcupine Tree. Unless the song changes part of the way through. I didn't watch the whole thing. I couldn't hear him.

  • if i wanted to listen to the backround song I WOULDVE FUCKING LOOKED IT UP! but i clicked on the video TO SEE WHAT THE FUCK STEVEN HAD TO SAY ABOUT OPETH!

  • the back music is too loud!!

  • i could only understand he heard about Opeth from a journalist in a metal mag in France and the guy gave him a copy of Still Life and that Akerfeldt loved PT.

  • worst interview ever but for all the wrong reasons. I really wanted to hear this but the fucking music blocks all the sound. Nice.

  • What a fucking jackass, delete your account from youtube plz noob.

  • I can't hear him. 1 star. Sorry.

  • Point. Why the fuck do they have to play the music when he's talking!?

  • WTF?

  • stupid background..

  • It sucks because I was really interested in what he has to say about them...

Bad use of a great song.

  • is this an interview about Opeth or Way Out of Here? I can't tell because I can't hear anything but Way Out of Here

  • In an interview, you don't normally have background music with lyrics,,,

  • Can't hear shit

  • @AsylumSeaker I know aye, whoever tried to mix this video failed.

  • holy shit dude, did you even listen to this before you posted it?

  • I love his accent (even though you can barely hear it)

Could you re-post it without the background music?

    Thanks for sharing anyway...

  • Comment removed

  • Did you even watch the video before uploading it?

I really shouldn't need to drive the audio track through an EQ to make out the words of the interviewee! Fkin horrible

  • When you do an interview

You USUALLY can HEAR the interviewed person. not the background music.

I was excited about listening to what he says, but u just ruined it.

  • Is every person who comments going to complain about the sound of the video? Haha

  • @scrubbycritter We are SW fans, it's going to happen :P

  • Brilliant song. Potentially very interesting interview. Perfect example of destructive interference. Can't hear a damned thing of either of them. Please (PLEASE) upload the interview without any backing so you can actually hear it.

  • Good job. You've ruined what could've been a good video. This video could be taken off the internet and nobody would care. Why? Because the song's not loud enough to be enjoyed and you can't hear a word Steven is saying.

You sir, need your video-editing and YouTube-uploading privileges taken away.
