No, the Air France could not carry more than 850 passengers; just because it is possible to configure an Airbus A380 that way does not mean that Air France did. Knock a few hundred off of that, and you'll get closer.

Can I just point out that the rudder took a hit near top and spinned the entire aircraft....not just snap off. Thats shows aviation engineering at its best.

@theenigmajeffhardy1 You know whats cool the smaller plane has a strong tail :) The tail was so well attached it transmited the rest of the energy to the frame very well. There may be some damage but shouldn't be nothing to serious...
