yeah, you definitely want to fly with the locals, proflight is the school on maui. haleakula launch is at 10,000 feet, so you fly through several different layers of atmosphere, creating a greater risk of wind shear. But occassionally the waves line up, and off you go!

Holy Crap, I want to fly there.  Makes California look boring. I'm curious to know what the winds were doing, was this in early morning, also, where you thermaling in the beginning or getting ridge lift?
