This is ridiculous. Had two John Deere's for 30 years; all you have to do is go up and down each row in opposite directions to stripe; no frickin' brush system needed. Wow - anything to make a buck off the gullible.
@super kevin,i would change direction but put the mulch cover on to block grass from going into gardens.Make sure you got highlift blades on to stripe without a kit.
Its a brush,my john deer stripes fine without that. But its funny, everytime i bugged john deer about how to should have made a stripe kit i always had them make fun of me when i turn around.
We recommend that customers follow the "1/3 rule" when cutting grass, for best results. What this means is that operators should not cut more than 1/3 the height of the grass blade when cutting, for example set cut height at 2-in for 3-in height grass. If the grass is unusually high (at the beginning of the season), you may need to go over grass more than once for optimal effect. John Deere dealers have grass grooming kits available for 100 Series and Select Series tractors, and EZtrak mowers.
the only problem the the clipping all all allover the place, an no use full rear discharge deck and rear bagging system like walker machine for resisdenal property
how do you make the checkerboard one or the fancy words and letters?

They obviously filmed this video on opposite day, and I would rather use a roller than a brush to stripe

John Deer should know better than this. They have the dark/light logic wrong.
Or does American grass have different properties to that in the Old World where mowing was invented?

In my lawn, blades bent away are lighter, and blades bent toward me are darker, but i grow martian grass.
