  • "So she needed more poof..."

  • He gave us 40 seconds in the end to think about what we saw.

  • 0:07 is that hand holding a penis?

  • @haleyryan8399 man i wanted to know the same thing...

  • O________________O wery dificolultO___________O my dream is create a my anme story whit proffessiona grafich animator......meaby use a interessant programm!|!!!!!!!

  • So she needed more poof. ROTFL

  • @rigomrtsfx I feel like every 3D animated character looks the same. some round head with no personality at ALL. kinda sucks. I mean everything looks like for example the characters in "Cloudy with a chance of meatballs".

I feel like 3D is sort of ruining animation in a way :(

  • @Flash8Bro I know just how you feel. I'm a fan of both 2D and 3D animation but I dislike the way many 3D characters look especially those done by the big animation studios. Its like they all got the idea that CG animated characters should look this way and they all are starting to look the same.

  • People need to understand that things change over time,

technology changes us constantly too. At one point, frame by frame

drawing is going to end weather we like it or not. User thmsrebel is right,

    time is money.

Asking not to go with the natural flow of technology, is almost the same as

believing to use a hammer and chisel to write.

Graphic tablets changed drawing, and writing. It's only natural that methods change.

  • Home much is the home (i.e. non-professional) version?

  • @porkyminch01 In case you didn't get it, I mean that they suck nowadays. The good old stuff, like Dexters Laboratorium, Courage etc. was the best stuff ever.

  • it doesn't look as good as real animation.

  • See my Toon Boom Animation called Board Breaker if you'd like 8)

  • Fucking Toon Boom digital pro PLE won't fucking show anything I draw, the preview is not working at all, cocksucking anoying bug! Please help

  • FOR THE LOVE OF PEAT WILL YOU ALL SHUT THE FUCK UP NOONE GIVES A FLYING FUCK ABOUT THIS BULL SHIT CHILDISH ANIMATION COPERISON YOU FUCKS

  • coooool iwill download it

  • @xsoulx20090 dude.. it costs 3thousand -.-

  • nice!

  • 6teen XD

  • shortcuts are GREAT!!!

  • For some of the people who are criticizing the use of this program in the comments, I like to note that, in the old days of cartoons, and even till now, a lot of animation, especially the hand-drawn ones, is outsourced to studios in countries like Korea and Japan, and done by animators who are, more often than not, underpaid for their hard work, and don't really care about their work sine they have a lot of scenes to animate.

Animation is a meticulous business, even with shortcuts.

  • at first i was amazed by this, and didn't understand the problem with short cutting...but man, this is on the brink of being lazy. i mean, i love that first one with the background being "3D" because that shit is hard to do,

but when you go and just have to design the characters and the computer does the rest for you...it's not even your own work! that's lazy! take some pride in your work. "i punched numbers look at me". nah. how bout i won't. i can see the quality worsen.

  • OMG LOL I RECOGNISE THAT SCENE my sis watches this all the time shes 5 years old ITS RUBY GLOOM

  • Is this program considered better than flash animation?

  • yes i think its better, now im working on animate coz they have 3 product ( toon boom studio, animate, and animate pro known as difgital pro )

  • True, maybe try experimentiing with Maya 3d animation and Cartoon Cell Shaders. Seems so easy to produce 2d that way.

Anyways, is that a cintiq? ME wants! When are the new ones coming out damnit

  • @ChimeraProd nope always 3ds max

  • @pokemaniac7654

Max? For movies? Most people use that for game design...

Anyways I think maya is the best for animation.

  • @ChimeraProd

Of course its much better than flash.

  • @ChimeraProd yep, its way better, some of the customer who use toon boom's product include family guy, the simpsons, walt disney's the princess and the frog, ruby gloom, and many more, so its considered one of the best animation softwares out there.

  • There is a list of it's pros and cons compared to flash on a website called toonboomtutorials.

  • woah cool howu do that makesome maple vid

  • That first shot they showed with the man and the shadowy hillside animation shot looked alot like something from the animation Gord...I wonder if it is..Don't say my comment is offtopic or such, I'm just commenting. Don't get all upset.

  • awesome! The worst parts of my animations are the mouth mvoements. This lip sinking could help. :) I MUST try this!

  • Try a stand alone then.

  • asi debe ser.. la tecnologia facilitandonos el trabajo ohh si!

  • the lipsynch feature looks awesome, i must try this software!

nice black void 2:12 and onward...

  • I fear Ruby Gloom, I had to watch it from 1 am to 5 am. It's still IMPLANTED in my brain. *shudders

  • Does anybody know what compiuter configuraiton are they using or the minimun requirements needed to make a decent animation

  • there's a problem with the girl moving. actually a bunch of problems:

    1) why doesn't her dress move?

    2) the rest of her body should move too...

    3) is there wind?

    4) shouldn't her hair move?

this is a lazy animation program. i really want flash because you have to draw everything out.

  • lol, you can move all of that stuff to, he was just giving an example, you do know that family guy, simsons, futurama, and many other cartoons are make with toon boom, it cost like 2000 dollars for the version he is using, dont hold me to it but im pretty sure that is the price, flash DOESN'T even compare !!!

  • @rabaduej

I'm not sure you know, but user chluaid makes AWESOME animations and a few he made in Flash fully

  • its not lazy its stylistic. loads of disney/nickelodeon cartoons use this sorta style (like fairly oddparents have stiff clothes/hair etc.)

    o.o

  • fairly oddparents is not as stiff as this. the clothes MOVE with the character. you never see cosmo's shirt mysteriously falling on and off of his body, do you?

a better example is edgar and ellen, which, despite the entertainment value, has pretty lousy animation.

  • @superskh

1&2) Anyone watching on TV won't be looking at every SINGLE DETAIL

    3) IT'S A CARTOON, NOONE CARES!

4)Are you sad enough to actually CARE?

  • @Mikeys9607TE: it's animation, which i do care about. i'm considering majoring in it, so yeah, i care.

you don't know that everyone watching tv won't notice every detail. it looks WRONG the way it is, and unnatural. if people don't draw every frame and instead use something to make it move on it's own it takes away a lot of the effort and detracts from the learning process.

and i'm not sad i'm actually very happy :)

  • @superskh Traditional Animation FTW!!!

  • You do realise that it's near impossible to produce a series within a limited budget and a short period of time on purely hand animation

  • @charliec81 didn't say it had to be super old school traditional. Just some of these shortcuts bother me because they take the spirit and real required talent out of animating. if you or anyone else wants to use it, fine. but i'd rather animate in a way that shows JUST how much work and time i put into the animation.

  • @superskh toon boom can be used as a frame by frame. i know by using it as frame by frame

  • does toonboom only traditional?

  • nice i like the end where everything is black

  • Ah, yuk! All these shortcuts are making me sick..

PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE ANIMATORS:

Think, study, understand, draw, feel your characters.

You are NOT moving them around -

    you are giving them LIFE.

  • you are right!

    but don´t forget...

    time is money!!

and the most people are thinking so.

  • The thumb down was very unnecessary..

    You know I'm right.

Just compare the golden age of disney

to the rotten Disney Channel of today..

Good thing we still have Sylvain Chomet

over there at Europe to warm our hearts

with some fine old school animation(:

  • that wasn´t me! ;)

  • YES!!! what happened with the good animation??? the animation is pictures in movement, not this shit!!! this program is very useful, but lets compare the new shitty animation with the animated scenes of the movie The Wall of pynk floyd, i hate technology

  • @Mattnek That was a movie, and a higher degree of quality as expected from a movie.

Series are different, especially since you're creating a lot more animation on a limited budget with a deadline, and for a smaller screen as opposed to a big screen.

The problem is not the technology itself, but rather, the over-reliance.

  • Personally i think you are wrong :D , Frame by frame character animation is pretty much always done for characters in good animations because it simply looks better, the only shortcuts people take are ones that involve linea movement e.g. If somthing is needed to move at but not change shape why not get the computer to do the inbetweens for you... it will be just as good as if you move them, but in the end the part that makes the animation are the parts done frame by frame or just StaticGoodArt.

  • @liolev Triplets of Belleville was a great movie :) Chomet's a genius.

But the comparison is not entirely apt. I mean, it's like saying the old Disney cartoons of the 80s-90s (I miss Ducktales) is better, and even Ducktales was considerably less well-animated then, say, Bambi. But those are movies, and its harder to use old school animation to produce as many TV episodes as possible.

  • im about to start work on my film im estimateing it will take at least 4 years to complete its my contribution to the world and i consider my charecters to be alive my only worry is if i leave them alone they may die :)

  • This program works well with frame by frame animation as well. You can use all the other features for certain things like tweening a ball being thrown.

  • @liolev -_-.... ToonBoom studio is too fucking hard to understand.. i hate it.

  • @liolev Cartoon Network uses ToonBoom.

Of course, that could be why they suck so bad.

  • @ZavCoyote they use more then just toon boom, believe it or not, Fosters Home for Imaginary friends was all done in Flash, as well as Dexter Lab. But i agree, cartoon network has become very shitty over the years.

  • @liolev I see Tools... the program is not Generating the characters or the Backgrounds, or the Story, it's done by the artist, the rest is just Tools... we are in a faster paced world today, than it was in the 1930s, the 'awesome factor' level is been raised every single day... so, Think, Study, Understand, Draw, Feel, and Use all you can get your hands on!

  • @liolev Dude, chill. Don't fear the future. It makes me tired when people are dogging on the new things today. It's making things easier. Face it--there's no going back now.

  • @gerlynn10 You are right about not fearing the new, but there's a big difference

between the new to science and to art. Inventing these kind of shortcuts in art can

be useful, but you can't deny it's also damaging the aspects that makes art ART, and

not just an assembly line of cheap products.

  • @liolev How does this damage the aspects of art? It's better than drawing the land scape many, many times over.

  • @liolev I agree. there's a generation coming up who possibly believes that animation is made up of "shortcuts" and "presets".

  • @liolev Some people animate for very different reasons, and time is money.

  • @liolev In some ways I actually prefer the Samurai Jack animation style which is essentially *all* shortcuts.

  • @liolev check out animators like egoraptor and Harry Partridge. Classic animation and animation software have a healthy medium. I've tried the toonboom method in flash CS3. It's horrible. I'm trying out frame by frame as soon as I'm done with my next animation.

  • ANIME STUDIO pro is way better and also very simple to use

  • Toon Boom is state of the art, it's used by so much proffesional animators, and why? it's very easy to use!

  • what is he using to do that , is that a wacom cintiq?

  • Thats zombie seen with the red head is a programme called Ruby Gloom

  • Shes not a zombie.

  • @sizeingsarha

Oh yeah, lol. I never knew they animate with Toon Boom..

  • i wish i had 1 of those touch screen computers so i can draw characters a lot easier

  • this costs about $1.8K

  • no I think the standard edition is about $400.

  • Studio - $380 (I think)

    Animate - $1000

    Animate Pro - $2000

that's all I know, more info on the official Toon Boom Website.

  • ich finde toon boom nimmt zu viel eigene kreativität weg.

  • ne...flip boom und animation-ish haben sehr viel kreativitat

  • great software, i own a copy but i never use the multi plane cam, instead i export my 2d animation

  • I think you can buy toon boom for 300$. And you can always try it for free

  • Omg! this looks so cool! =3

  • Man, Toon Boom looks way better than Flash!

  • I have flash CS3... and it SUCKS!!! No puppet/glue tool, and is missing much more. I agree, this looks way better.

  • I, too, have Flash CS3, & I agree of what you said. It's missing a few things. Like a camera to move around the scene or something.

  • Flash CS4 is closer but the 3d space they added doesn't have a camera which makes it harder but its still pretty good. now it has a puppet ability too so flash is becoming better. But this is what a lot of pros use for movies but i have a feeling flash will make its way up thre even more then it already is.

  • Well, that's good that their improving flash. But still, I like the Toon Boom better. Even though I haven't tried it yet, but I bet it's gonna be good. :)

  • yea i just downloaded a trial and i like it so far. but at my internship im required to use flash and i've been using flash for about 3 years now so it'll be hard to switch :P

  • Which one did you get? The Animate Toon Boom or the Sketch Toon Boom?

  • omg they used this software to make 6teen!!!

  • I'm going to buy Toon Boom Animate soon. I'm glad they made another version of Toon Boom. 'Animate' sells for about the same as Flash pro.

  • you can download personal learning edition version from thier website to learn the software

  • is it free because i love animation and i bought something from toon boom recently and i loved it

  • well no but its cheaper than flash if you buy the studio version

  • bittorrent is your best friend ! ask him anything and he shell let you have it in few mintues :d

  • yeah your best friend!! lol

  • lol ;)

  • I have a question, isnt the same if I use after effects to do this animations? do the drawings in illustrator/photoshop then animate it in after effects? (3d camera and layers)?

  • they are real pros

  • Theres nothing you can't really do, with Toon Boom. Best animation software...PERIOD!

  • Can i do the 3d thing in the Toon Boom Studio 4? It's just regular. I hope I can, I got it for my b-day.

  • Simpsons movie was probably animated with this.

  • It was in fact used to make the Simpsons movie.

  • Cool, I didn't know that!

  • Yo Mr. TechnoCite

what would you advise if to say a 16 year old wanted to follow a career in animation like the one shown above.

    i would greatly appreciate it.

  • draw, start with three whole pegboard and paper on a light table. get your timing down and expressions. then proceed to the computer. Learn photoshop. Losta other work in this field. Designing, 3d etc..

  • Draw a lot, draw good designs, have lots of varied references. Don't just look at Naruto!!!!

  • @elmono29: Sorry for the late reply. Have a strong portfolio. Join an animation school. Talk to established animators. Make contacts. Pick their brains. Good luck pursuing your career.

  • how do i get my hands on this?! this looks awesome...im still learning how to use flash but i want my hands on this baby. how do i get what you got? do you like work for toon boom or somthing?

  • No, I'm a newspaper reporter in Montreal who covers technology companies.

  • oh. so how can i get my hands on this?

  • This program looks pretty sick, a major improvement over Flash thats for sure... I WANT!

  • wow that is amazing. and the price, $3,000 hahahahah

  • I have this program, but it's kinda hard to use.

btw, I like the part at 0:18 how he was moving the landscape, that is phenomenal!!! 5/5

  • Simpsons movie was made on toon boom

  • What's the name of the character at 1:12?
