There was no strong opposition in Germany, people mostly accepted Hitler`s "methods". So with who the allies should talk back then?. The Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was his way to neutralize Stalin because he knew S. would act if Germany invaded Poland. So he gave S. half of Europe like a candy to a keep a child quiet, only to occupy all those countries AND USSR later. I'm not defending S. but he did try to stop Hitler, he even joined the League of Nations while Hitler left it but the Western countries remained aloof until it was too late.

Stalin made sincere attempts at a pact with the West,there was a problem with transit rights to Czechoslovakia but the West had no interest in resolving it. Stalin realized ultimately that there was a risk Britain and France would draw the USSR into war with Germany and sit on the sidelines.
If Hitler hadn't coveted Poland for its farmland and for the fact that it was in historical German territory (which they had conquered from the Balts and Sorbs and some of the Poles), Poland would've been an ideal ally for the Nazis.

But the Axis Powers (Germany, Hungary, Slovakia) were sooner than the USSR and attacked in June 1941. A preventive strike as Viktor Suvorov has proven. Of course the Entente wanted Soviet support against Germany in 1938 and 1939. UK wanted the war.

The truth on modern history (and even on Medieval history, although academics now have refuted the Enlightenment propaganda from the 18th century) is covered under thick layers of dust. And truth on WW2 is very explosive, ever more, because modern politicians fail to civilly uncover truth and moderate response.

Ethnic self-determination was accorded only to minority peoples of the financially-autarkic Empires of Germany and Austria-Hungary, in order to dissolve them. It is part of a global plan of "Solve et coagula". From 1914-45 this war was waged against Germany, Hitler being just a dictator among many.

I do not glorify Mr Adolf Hitler, but his war time policies were no worse than the Allied policies, as far as numbers of casualties are concerned. Roosevelt and Churchill all deemed Germans inferior and ordered civilians massacred. Napoleon was indeed moderate, but still sent Europe's sons to death in the Russian winter.

Bismarck was long gone in 1918, for more than two decades out of true power and dead. The majority of the population of Silesia was and remains German in identification, even in Slavic parts of Upper Silesia (which in 1920 had a firm German-speaking majority though).

There was no strong opposition in Germany, people mostly accepted Hitler`s "methods". So with who the allies should talk back then?. The complete defeat of Germany was needed because they would cause another war under the pretext that "the peace treaty was injustice and caused the war".

Especially if you consider that the horrors of the Holocaust and WW2 hadn't happened yet. Hitler was not a mass murderer at that point. Just a European leader. Besides, before that Stalin tried to unify with UK and France to stop Hitler. But they turned him down and allowed Hitler to invade Czechoslovakia. Stalin actually wanted to send the Red Army to stop it.

The Molotov-Ribbentrop pact was his way to neutralize Stalin because he knew S. would act if Germany invaded Poland. So he gave S. half of Europe like a candy to a keep a child quiet, only to occupy all those countries AND USSR later. I'm not defending S. but he did try to stop Hitler, he even joined the League of Nations while Hitler left it but the Western countries remained aloof until it was too late.

@lunafringe10 I agree with what your saying, but the invasion of Britain became a tactical impossiblity for the Germans when the Panzer divisions halted outside Dunkirk allowing the Brits to retreat back, and also when the Luftwaffe failed to gain air superiority in British air space. Not really news but it reminds us of some good points. Poland pre WWII was a fascist state, had war come in 1938 it is likely the polish government would have fought with Germany. Stalin made sincere attempts at a pact with the West,there was a problem with transit rights to Czechoslovakia but the West had no interest in resolving it. Stalin realized ultimately that there was a risk Britain and France would draw the USSR into war with Germany and sit on the sidelines.

If Hitler hadn't coveted Poland for its farmland and for the fact that it was in historical German territory (which they had conquered from the Balts and Sorbs and some of the Poles), Poland would've been an ideal ally for the Nazis.

One must ask: Could Russia have defeated Hitler if it had been a Czarist State in 1941? The answer is NO! It took a totalitarian state to defeat another totalitarian state! It took an iron will like Stalins to unify the Soviet Union against a state that was geared for war. The statues of Stalin should not be torn down. Instead, a bronze plaque should have been mounted on the base of these statues stating what Russia has learned about him. Both his good and bad points.

Anatol Lieven is right.....He might also have added that the Poles consistently shot down any anti military pact against Germany by refusing Soviet troops transit through Poland.....They never altered that position even after Munich........

...well most of the 1930's Polish-Czech relationships where very poor, and when the war was coming cloaser bouth Poland and Czech looked for allys, so you might say this was an act of politeness from the Czech to Poland, or maybe they just didnt want that to fall into Nazi hands (the same did Poland with the Vilnus district in september 1939, giving it to Lithuania, with eventualy was pressed into the USSR) sadly most historians today do not remember it or do not want to remember it.

lol the guy with glasses ofc didnt mention that 1stly it was the Czechoslovakia who invaided the Polish "Zaolzie" district, Poland took it back, but not in the way he mantioned (ofc it can be refered to it, cos the timing was nearly the same when participated Czechslovakia, but this returning of Zaolzie back to Poland was made on a pack between Poland and Czechoslovakia (there is even a vid on youttube about it) why would they give it back? ...

@FinalWar1444 Hitler was one of the biggest loosers in history. He wanted to destroy communism and ended up with the Red Army in Berlin. He wanted to make Germany great he ended up with the country divided and ruined. He wanted to avenge WW1 but suffered a worse defeat, He wanted to wipe out the Jews but ended up creating conditions that allowed Zionism to triumph, then at the end old one ball was too cowardly to face the music!

I also wonder though, wouldn't Stalin have had a WORSE reputation than Hitler at the time? Would it not have been more likely that the british and french would've allied with Hitler to take down Stalin? Stalin clearly had his own psychotic motives behind this move, motives that the report fails to mention.

No, Stalin was using Hitler to destroy the imperialist powers like Poland, France and GB. He gave Hitler a non aggression pact, supported him with raw materials und invaded Poland himself. These are well known facts. When Hitler himself would be weak because of long and costly wars Stalin would have invaded the Reich. Make no mistake about it.

How's that bullcrap? All the things he did are nowadays acknowledged by all the closest people to Stalin, and the top leaders of the KGB etc. in general. Stalin was using Germany as an icebreaker. Once Hitler had invaded most of Europe, banned all trade unions, their parliaments, put some people to concentration camps etc., then those occupied countries would be very willing to see a liberator.And that's when the USSR would come and "liberate" ALL of Europe (including the non-occupied countries)
