holy shit..... seriously its too fast as hell and I can't even follow one by one as I just got and know Maya for the first time hence I totally don't know how to use it (so does the mudbox)
I've watched this "WORKFLOW DEMONSTRATION" a hundred times and unfortunately I'm new to Maya so I'm having trouble figuring things out, The only part I just can't get is how he gets that thumb started I've tried everything I can think of. Please Help?
OO WOW!! NOW I KNOW YOU KNOW HOW TO DO IT... BUT I READ TUTORIAL ..MAAAAN!! YOUR GOOD TO CREAT HANDS BUT NOT REALLY TO MUCH TO MAKE TUTORIALS... BUT I LIKE IT
@gasknr I think this is more a workflow demonstration rather than a tutorial.. (it doesnt say tutorial anywhere in the description) once you get used to the modeling tools you can see clearly the methods used in here to apply on your own work, but if you are looking for a detailed step by step tut, there are good ones here on youtube and tons spread on several CG forums ;)
what's the best computer for this type of programs ( maya and all of the animation film programs from autodesk??? would a Mac be good for this kind of tasks??'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@dinotooth- If u r using vlc media player to watch video then u can reduce speed of video easily. Just below volume there is a value 1.00x click on it and reduce value to
0.25x. Then the speed of video will reduces. I hope this will help u.
its a mess,no professional works like that ,its totaly raw and unacceptable workflow at studios, and i gurantee if u follow techniques u save much time and bec ultimately u r gonna jump into mudbox,so why messing around with poly's in this way?Sorry u shud put some responsibilty before publishing thes kinds of tutz, after al ur autodesk and who knwz better than u?
do you think everyone works in a studio? What about me, the hobbiest? I dont have mudbox or zbrush. Cant afford it and never will cause i am no sculptor. I need to push polys to get detail cause I CANT SCULPT FREE HAND! Its goor practice to be able to push polys and NOT go to zbrush. Thats teh problem, everyone depends on zbrush and stopped learning poly detail. Truely Good modelers do need zbrush. They can do it all in the 3d app. You cant do it without zbrush? you aint a pro then.
suer sure who says u listen to me,but this is definetly not the way!!!hand does not start the way so called master demonstrated us,i simply said with techniques this whole thing is quite enjoyable to lurn, and this way u ll turn into more mess, because u follow the guy whoz master and u r ignoring the techniques, art today is a subject because of underlying principles, discipline and involves lot of techniques, and i see million such useless tutorials over here ,but real deal is work with technique!
that's rubbish! the mere fact that someone is a pro normally means they have deadlines to work to, sure you could do it in maya by pushing polys, so what! anyone with more than a few years of experience would have had to at a time.
there are new tools available that even you have access to (modo?) and not using them when they are the quicker alternative is just shortsighted and plain silly.
most pros would choose the option that gets the best results at the lowest cost of time.
actualy true master never shares these tricks,of how to start with a hand, how to crease a face and things like that, its just that people follow youtube videos and turns into more mess, thats not at all work done!thats waste of time
As u can easy, this cg industry allows only the 5% cream of the people and not everyone, its hard to see the real stuff anywhere, thats only my point!
most people that have got to be proficient at an art form understand that its largely a path that you have to get to yourself, the mistake you make along the way are what make you learn and adapt your own personal techniques etc sure you can be guided but there is no shortcut you need to learn why things are done a certain way by messing up a bit haha
i follow howard swindell actualy and ,his works on pirates of carribean, and stuf like that, and boy he works so accurately, using every possible tradional and new tool to even shape the basic structure of model, before sculpting
every image speaks proportion, accuracy, scale and such artistic ,that it clearly says that its made using principles and techniques and not by hand ,,yes everyone can lurn, and if u follow a master, just follow from wher he started, not his end product
tehe guy talking, He a master. Hes worked on Lord of the Rings, King Kong, Ghost Rider and many more so saying this ti dumb makes you sound dumb. Sorry, ill listen to him, not you.
what does that mean? he is a professional and this is his workflow! everyone has different ones. It is personally how he works faster it has nothing to do with anything or anybody else.
At the end of the day the outcome is all that matters, well and the time it takes to achieve it.
May I ask you something? Are you using polys at the begginning right?
Well I have an issue with maay 2009, when I select ANY poly face all the figure is highlighted with a yellow color, instead of being able to modify only the face, It drags all the polygons in the shape:
