I'd say that most of the atmosphere comes from the LACK of dialogue. It's the staging, the music, the visual cues. The eerie sense that some shit's about to go down. That's what makes the scene so great, IMO.
@NoeDeftonicBoy no it's not; even if you've never seen the movie, it's interesting to see how you know what the scene's about, entirely through the excellent shots and editing, to say nothing of the sound; the tension mounts and explodes clearly, no matter what language it's in--
@moiraregis Yes,it is.I have seen this movie back since I was 6 and then back when I was 13 and it just not the same.Would you say the same if this movie was in Japanese?English or nothing!
Please get informed before commenting...the film is a parody of one if not the greatest silent film ever made by a Russian filmmaker Sergueï EISENTEIN. The title: "Battleship Potemkin" relates the rebellion of the sailors against their officers - in the harbor of Odessa, in 1905, on the Black Sea - for failing to provide them with food. The army is called in and the people there for the ship departure are slaughtered in a pitiless, methodical manner. The Steps sequence is the most horrifying..
@klerk06 You are an asian cunt big time you fucking faggot. Go watch your Kid Cudi you fucking asian nigger lover asshole. Why dont you try to make a better movie? Asshole
@tiboudzi And who the fuck are you canadian cocksucker? Why do you jump all over? Stupid canadian cocksucker. Are you a nigger lover or an asian cunt lover?

Thanks for proving my point that you are a retard because you cant even spell AMERICAN, way to go fucking moron !Keep answering maybe youtube will reward you with a medal of the bronze medal olympics for arguing behind a desk
yeah, this was an ode to the "Odessa Steps" sequence in Battleship Potempkin - Bronenosets Potyomkin , and the sailors who get caught in the crossfire are also a tribute to the film. - magnificent sequence ... DePalma had a few of these slowmotion sequencing...in fact, Inception re-did similar sequencing in slow-mo
@bylageld: Definitely not spanish, and definitely not russian. I know both languages and don't understand a word of this soundtrack. I guess it's polish.
@kemosaby82 If that is what you think, then this is the first foreign language you've heard. It is more likely some Slavic language like Czech, for gods sake.
It is Czech language.
