Simo's lightning speed on the guitar strings is out of this world man! I've been a Simo fan since he was tearing it up in the Phoenix area playing Stevie Ray and Hendrix covers with the same power and passion as Stevie and Jimi....
This guy has enough raw talent to blow away any manfactured American Idol puppet on the charts today! We desperately need a new breed of young mavericks like J.D. who can inject some firepower back into the pathetic world of mainstream country music!
agreed, I used to watch him play at Voodoo's back when I lived in PHX 8 years ago. The kid must have been 14 at the time but I never missed an opportunity to see him jam.
I was driving through Nashville & just had time for one beer. Stopped into Robert's Western World on Broadway and JD Simo was onstage with the Don Kelley band...JD was such a great guitar player that I ended up staying the whole night!
I know what you are sayng/me, personally, sometimes am turned off by this kinda playing maybe purely because it is too fast and I think there should be more breathing room/phrasing but I've got to say/i picked up my guitar just now and tried to play along with this song and I couldnt even get a phrase out that was fast enough to keep up with the bands tempo/so I know where you are coming from but I think maybe we are underestimating what hes actually playing- hes smoking without a single pause.
OMG!!! What is he doing at this little honky tonk??? Is Nashville stupid or something? We saw him @ Roberts Sat. nite. Blew my mind! The whole band was FABULOUS!
Well there's no doubt who the best country guitar player in Nashville is after watching this clip, and he is obviously "too good" to ever make it on American Idol which is why he is unknown to Carrie Underwood fans...
I used to watch this guy play the local bars here in Phoenix eight years ago when he was 15years old. Simo has enough talent to blow Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney, or Toby Keith off the stage any day of the week!
I've seen this guy play at Robert's, he's brilliant. J.D. Simo is one of those guitar players that inspire me, yet at the same time depresses me as I realise I'll never be that good.
he IS amazing. i was down there last summer and we ended up staying at roberts all night just to watch him play. i wish someone had a video of him playin the 'cattle call song' ....i've never seen anyone play like that!!
