Great video - if someone wants to add an extra layer of security to an in-room hotel safe, travelers can buy a special lock that allows a traveler to place their own lock on the outside of a hotel safe. This prevents an unauthorized person from accessing your hotel safe when you are away.

Prior to a guest checking in and setting a code, yes, they open by just pressing the open button.

And, that is why it says "CODE" just after it has been opened.

Enter your code, just follow the instructions to the right of the keypad, and you will not have this problem.

There is a very simple explanation for what we see in this video.These kind of small safes are usually used by the hotels. They have a master code which can be used by the management in the case of emergency (e.g. if the guest forgets the code that he put). The master code of the safe in the video is set to "1" . The safe can of course accept the "user" code which can be any number (from 1 to 6 or 8 digit).The procedure is showed when he put the code "2222"! Then it opens with both numbers ....

This safe either has a faulty circuit card or is in a diagnostic mode, hence why it can be opened like that. In normal operating mode, it won't display "secure" and "code" upon opening. Although the data port is under the handle, putting your fingers there does nothing 'magical' to open the safe.
