thanks danceclassmusic i so want it i loved it and would love to use it at home...is the DVD a good one? i read some comments about it and just was curious it looks good on here when i watch them but i didnt know? thanks again!
@Malela89 I don't think its too dangerous. I'm not the lightest ;) and on pointe! Your feet, ankels, knees and back have to be strong and you will be allright :)
@Malela89 (It know this comment is a bit old, but I just wanted to reply to it.) It doesn't matter what weight you are. Strength is really the only thing that matters as far as danger goes. Even if a girl has the ideal "ballet body," if she has no strength, it's far more dangerous for her to dance en pointe than a heavier, stronger girl.
That girl on full pointe was amazing, she is really hood especially at such a young age, they all were, I wisn I could do that, hopefully some day I will. Sorry about spelling errors.
@frenchbabex. Yes, usually pointe dancers work for years to get en pointe but as long as you have a good instructor you are working on your technique and you practice at home, and you work on your strength you should be fine
The older you are, the less time you USUALLY have to do ballet to get on Pointe because your feet are more mature and more likely to be stronger with less training than for someone young with growing feet. Of course, not everyone is the same, and it may take longer for some than others. There was a girl at my studio who started pointe at 21 with minimal training and she was ready for it. It just depends.
@ObscuraLupa That's what I hate about my ballet class-as a percussionist, I focus on the rhythm and beats, while the girls with amazing technique look inexperienced because they don't know when to do anything.
I live in New Jersey, and I want to go on point. I'm 5 foot 7inches. But, i weigh a little more than I should. How much should I weigh to be on point!? Can you give me any advice or tips for loosing weight???
you dont have to way 110 pounds, thats to little for your height. i know a lot of girls who way more than that and they are on pointe, so i dont beleive there is a specific weight amount to b on pointe.
i think they are good dancers however i think one of the dancer needs to stop sticking her butt out as much, it does make a difference to the posture.
The group movements aren't releves, they're sousous with movement forward and then backwards on purpose. Sousous are bascially jumping into releve, particularly in the Russian technique.
@snowboardgloory It's called springing not jump. Jumping up is terribly wrong, but to spring up is like quickly scooting your toes under to get en pointe. I think ALL dancers en pointe doing fouettes naturally spring up, instead of rolling through.
@cutielolxx If you heard, he said near the end when they reversed that it was "sousous back," so of course earlier in the first side their sousous travels forward. I agree that it looks like they are jumping, instead of springing, we all start that way- when they are stronger it'll look better.
they look ridiculous compared to the beijing school's students..i favourited them-have a look and see for yourself before you flag me down. because if you do watch it. i highly doubt you'd disagree=]
They look good for their age. I'm also glad that they've been taught epaulement- so many teachers don't put an emphasis on it until it's too late to become second-nature.
i really wanna do ballet but I don't know if it's worth it
I'm 16 but I'm really well trained in modern jazz, tap, freestyle, swinger and cheerleading (if you can call that dancing) and i have tried ballet because i had to do it in one of my plays - i had about 50 lessons and rose on to pointe for a few exercises although i think my teacher rushed me slightly - i don't know if i would be any good, what advice can you give me to help?
I am a ballet teacher and I have students at the age of 23 who started ballet last year and they didn't have any experience on dancing! If you want to do it then just do it! It is not about the talent.. It is about your work! ;)
@eleniyen I'm am 21 soon to be 22 in june, I really want to learn ballet but dont know where to go, most people say I'm too old to take begginer classes, any suggestions?
@eleniyen Hi thanks for that advice! I live in Saint Lucia where there's only one teacher and she is not that good. So sadly I will not grow .. i depend on youtube for advice and tips.
@eleniyen really cause i'm 18 now and i use to do ballet for 3-9 and then i move and we couldn't find a school that would take me and now we found a school (three years ago)but they said that i was too old. I would really like to do ballet again i had a alot of fun doing it.
@animenut2001 I started when I was 14 having done no ballet or dance previously, and i'm now getting ready to do my grade 7, a year later. It's not about how long you've done it for, it's the effot you put in to it. There's a girl in the royal ballet school who only started when she was in college. Age is just a number :)
@eleniyen 23 was the age I started at as well, and I am not getting ready for pre pointe. In the video of the recital. you could not tell I had started later. that was a year ago.
What training did you do?? It is so so ddangerous to teach BALLET to adult beginners who have had no training Hope you start them at barre, even basic tendus, especially second, derriere can be disastrous. I see the foot roll first, then the knee. hips not even, could end up very badly injured or have problems with hips, backs, knees in several years. Ballet is not fun.. It is hard work, perfection and yes you can have fun but don't mess with their bodies!
i like that they're showing dancers that arent perfect yet and are still training. i did notice that the asian girl's body wiggles on her tendus and the blonde's turn-out during her fondues to second cud be better.
cause when the asian one puts her foot back into first position, she puts her heel in first and THEN her toes...causing her to wiggle. she does have amazing turnout though.
Is it true that you have to be at least under 100 pounds to dance it? I have always loved ballet and I am 120, so I don't know if I should learn it or not. I am very confused..
of course not! that is the biggest bull i've ever heard of! believe me, there's no hight or weight limit to dance ballet. professionally it may be harder to get some main roles in some stage pieces, but other than that... i'm 5 ft 9, and 180 pounds, and i'm pretty much more confortable en pointe than most of the 100 pound girls on the company...
well that depends how tall you are, yes if you want to be in a top russian country or sab, no if you want to be in a company that likes healthy (bu† very fit) ballet dancers such as boston ballet, houston ballet etc.
the girl doing the seven releves on pointe in center need to pull her hips above her knees every time she plies, otherwise she sticks her butt out....i get the same correction all the time..but i never noticed how it lo0ked till now...lol
Sometimes the music gets out of synch when some formats of video are converted. I had one go out by a whole bar - the dancers were on the beat, but finished a bar behind the music.
If u want to do ballet, do it! You don't need permission or acceptance from your friends. If doing ballet would make you happy, do it. If your friends have a problem with it, maybe they're not real friends. I agree with SimplyAmazing...........GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! Best of luck!

dude. u need to do it. have u yet??? cause there is seriosly not many guys who want to do ballet. and if u start and u LOVE it, its easier for guys to become profs because theres not many guy dancers in the world!!!
WHHHHY hasnt the rest of the world caught on that CRANKING does NOTHING for a dancer. work to a dancer realistic turnout. turing out from the hip socket and not twisting or cranking the ankle and knee. you can tell via their overdeveloped buttcoks, and pelvic adjustment through tendus in second, how badl cranked they are. poor things
he's so nice. It's no wonder his students are so good. He's nice and he seems to care about their technique and not pointe (pun) out how bad something is.
How old are these girls theya re amazing. The girl on the relevees is great but maybe a little less stiffness, more grace. The girl in the back row in 2:29 is amazing and very graceful. Now I have some great excersices to teach my students! Make some more great videos.
Thanks for posting this, its great! I've been looking for some exercises for pointe in the centre! The girl who does the relevees has gorgeous arches, but her arms are very stiff!
i wanted to do ballet. haha and now i dont.... i couldnt possibly remember all those things

WHHHHY hasnt the rest of the world caught on that CRANKING does NOTHING for a dancer. work to a dancer realistic turnout. turing out from the hip socket and not twisting or cranking the ankle and knee. you can tell via their overdeveloped buttcoks, and pelvic adjustment through tendus in second, how badl cranked they are. poor things

omg i totally agree...THANK YOU =) i used to crank and now my knees hurt like hell....

he's so nice. It's no wonder his students are so good. He's nice and he seems to care about their technique and not pointe (pun) out how bad something is.

JudeHarrison0289 3 years ago
I'm on pointe and it takes a lot of effort..

How old are these girls theya re amazing. The girl on the relevees is great but maybe a little less stiffness, more grace. The girl in the back row in 2:29 is amazing and very graceful. Now I have some great excersices to teach my students! Make some more great videos.
Piper259 3 years ago 3
Thanks for posting this, its great! I've been looking for some exercises for pointe in the centre! The girl who does the relevees has gorgeous arches, but her arms are very stiff!

I love it! those girls are working so hard. And the teacher is watching them very closely.

It is the russian style to go up the way they do (spring). It is not french or italian.
