Being a housekeeper is hard, being a construction worker is hard. There are more people all over the world having hardships in their lives than the celebrities. Guys, in case you missed him (most people probably did), the back vocalist that was hitting the high notes for Maraiah was Trey Lorenz. If you are around 30 years old, you may remember him from his hit "Someone to hold" back in 1992. Outstanding voice. Check him out for yourself, he's on the Tube. I felt sad to see him still performing in the shadow of Maraiah (no disrespect intended to Maraiah) but he can make it on his own no problems what so ever. Go Trey; you can make a comeback!!

The whistle in the background wasn't a one of her backing vocalists. I think it's just feedback from a faulty mic. It happened during ISIL and when she was on American Idol performing Bye Bye.
I love this song very nuch.. I remember when it first came out. The only thing that ruined this performance was the fact that she sang the whole song a quarter tone flat. Very strange indeed given she is such an acomplished singer.

the whistle wasn't the backup singer, there are no whistles in this song. It only happens when she lips, it's just a audio problem. It doesn't happen a lot during this song, only on select parts.

she didn't hit the whistle because in the official version of hero there is no whistle. It's just an extra backing vocal. She's still able to hit whistle notes.
Those who are questioning her ability to hit high notes, go and search for "one child mariah carey". she sang LIVE in front of America and Barack Obama and family, and hit all the high notes flawlessly.

Guys, in case you missed him (most people probably did), the back vocalist that was hitting the high notes for Maraiah was Trey Lorenz. If you are around 30 years old, you may remember him from his hit "Someone to hold" back in 1992. Outstanding voice. Check him out for yourself, he's on the Tube. I felt sad to see him still performing in the shadow of Maraiah (no disrespect intended to Maraiah) but he can make it on his own no problems what so ever. Go Trey; you can make a comeback!!

The whistle in the background wasn't a one of her backing vocalists. I think it's just feedback from a faulty mic. It happened during ISIL and when she was on American Idol performing Bye Bye.

I love this song very nuch.. I remember when it first came out. The only thing that ruined this performance was the fact that she sang the whole song a quarter tone flat. Very strange indeed given she is such an acomplished singer.

the whistle wasn't the backup singer, there are no whistles in this song. It only happens when she lips, it's just a audio problem. It doesn't happen a lot during this song, only on select parts.

And I think it's a solid performance. It doesn't matter that she didn't hit the highest notes. Only problem was the whistle notes that came accidently and the stiffness, but she was feeling bad. :(

She have lost nearly everything she had... she's not as talented as she used to be. It's sad! Because she was actually very outstanding singer in 1990-2000. She's just kinda awkward there. Don't get me wrong. I still like her... I just don't like her recent music and that she has lost so many skills.

The whistling isn't the backup vocalist, at those times she is miming to the track and she is pushing air through the vocal folds creating those whistles. Why would she ask her backups to sing a pointless whistle? Let's put on our critical thinking caps now. She had this problem during her performances of "bye bye" and "FLAB"

@rekupp shes not miming it.... her vocal nodules cause air to whip past them causing the unintended whistle note while shes signing... that's why when she belts out words the whistle gets louder because shes pushing air through her vocal chords to sing.

she didn't hit the whistle because in the official version of hero there is no whistle. It's just an extra backing vocal. She's still able to hit whistle notes.
