  • I loved this

  • Great lighting!

  • Hello friend, thanks for posting. Its posted in my blog, visit. animaclipe . wordpress . com

    Bye.

  • i'm gonna have nightmares after this...

  • this was kinda like a bad acid trip.

  • Reminds me a bit of Jiri Barta's work!

  • wow thanks

i am a fan of barta!

  • 5/5!!! You're doing very well!

How long does every single picture last for?

  • 1/24th of a second

    (24 frames per second)

  • hey this is really great. I watched the Sandman, but i didn't know you could do this also, its really great: the dolls and the sets and the skeletons are briliant. The main charachter, I dont know if its a granny or a male, it looks super.

  • Wow! watching this gave me the missing link to what one of my future shorts shud have.

    U kick so much ass!

  • Like the red-ochre colors that keep popping up in the bkgd. The green tone is nice as well. Like your use of constant cutaways from the travelling puppet showing the viewer other dangers lurking about.

  • this reminds me of tool's music videos, both the song and the visuals.

  • This is simply incredible work. This film is one of the films that inspired me to start doing stop motion animation. I have a long way to go though. Your lighting is the best I've seen. The mood, sets and music are perfect. Would you be kind enough to tell me how many FPS you shot this at?? And how are you tracking the shots and keeping the scene smooth?? Not shaking??

  • =| wtf

  • Great video! and lovely music! I'm working on a stop motion project myself. (very early though, planing and writing stage) But I'm going to use my slr to animate. I've got a canon rebel xsi. What kind of lens did you use on this?

  • That's great, man! The lighting effects are awesome - very atmospheric.

  • This is great footage, the colors are really nice. I'm about to start a stop motion project too, and i was wondering what size your images were and if you resized them or compressed the video or anything? I ran a test but the video was too large for smooth playback at 24fps

  • i croped and resized the images in photoshop

i edited everything at ntsc resolution

    in 24p mode (23.98)

what are you using to edit with?

  • im editing using premiere

i used monkeyjam to assemble to a video, and yesterday was the first real day of shooting. I did try saving it at ntsc resolution and it worked perfectly

thanks for your help, and great video

  • cool

    cant wait to see it

  • no i used the preview screen on the back of the camera i can flip through and watch the animation in a kind of (very) slow motion - i can get a basic idea of how well it is working- if it is smoothe enough if i bumped my tripod most often i found i had forgotten to move the light after moving all the puppets in the scenes with dynamic lighting and i would have to redo it also it was hard to animate the focus and not bump the camera i have heard there is software for that stuff but dont have it
  • well - after building the puppets i would build a set - animate the scene edit the pictures in photoshop animate them in fcp then cut the animations against the music again in fcp and decide if i needed any more coverage if not i would build the next set and shoot the next scene at the end i did a little color correction but not much else really - pretty simple workflow really thanks for watching!
  • Looks like sober.

  • woah this is really impressive. it's gorgeous. i thought of the puppet Trnka uses in 'the hand' (1965) because it can show an array of different emotions just by camera angle - you should check it out, i'm sure it would inspire you.

  • cool

  • is very nice.

i really like the style and the lighting.

    bravo

  • very cool, i liked how u used the lighting. How long did it take for you to do this?

  • between building the puppets and sets, shooting it, animating and editing - i would say about two and a half months

  • very well done.

  • Reminds of Tool's Sober video

  • would u b able to send me the music from this vid i want to play it on my vioin g8 vid loved it

  • Starnge & beautiful work.

  • looks great. love the skeletons. great work. suits the music well.

    PIMP my SOUL*

  • Creepy and Dark Vary cool..Loved it

  • Very, very cool.reminds me of The Brothers quay and Tool.

and all that yummy stuff.Good work.

  • great work. where did you find all the skeletons and stuff?

  • cool movie! I liked alot the part when the skeloton monster hits the man.

  • This is geat work man. Keep on making visual art like this.

    Funkengrooven!

  • this is fantastic - i have a feeling you have already checked out the Fred Stuhr videos - although he's obviously a fan of Ladislaw Starewicz, and the Brothers Quay - as you have already mentioned they influenced you. just superb - don't ever listen to anyone else - but be so god damnned self critical as that is the only way to ever produce good work. a masterfully engineered piece of animation....brilliant.

  • jeez..dude, i dont think i blinked during that whole thing..fuckin sweeeeeet!! amazing lighting and "set design", all of it! 5/5

  • I liked it!

    Watch my videos!!!^^

  • Very cool! Great use of moving ominous lights and stuff. Very dark and textural yeah. Must have taken awhile huh! I myself am actually starting soon a stop motion animated video for a band as well, albeit one that will be much less dark, but still...excitement and nervousness abounds for such a big undertaking!

    Great job.

  • Yeah very good I enjoyed it, great lighting, now for constructive criticism, It's a shame the character did not walk he glided, i think it could possibly add a little more scariness if he was walking/creeping around, the use of blurred fades/transitions was used a bit too much I think. But you obviously understand how to make a good animation you should check out Fred Stuhr and Tool's Music Videos

  • very good! you've got some talent my friend. If you like stop motion animation you should check out my vids, i have like 10 of them. keep up the good work man!

  • i watched this stoned it was an experience lol very scary

  • That was amazing! Great job!

  • Great job, Rich. Gail loved it too

  • AWSOME!! i love the shadows, very quay brothers. 5/5

  • so is it like compiling a .flm in photoshop? then editing in fcp or vice-versa?

  • Awesome work. Great job.

  • 5/5 really good, perfect!:)
