  • Can i have my humidifier and a humidipak at the same time in my humidor?

  • I have a new 50 cigars humi. How may 84% do I need to season?

  • How many 84% seasoning packets do you need? One or one for every 50 cigars?

  • I have never even heard of such a thing.

  • I use beads

  • What is your method of humidification? I just got my humidor and can hold up to 20 cigars. I received 8 preium cigars and they were abit dry from being shipped. Thanks for your help!

  • Used these for a few months and found they work best in combination with a foam pack with PG solution to supply extra moisture and regulate the humidity. By themselves they are a waste of money cause they dry out too quick. Probably don't need them at all to be honest...

  • They will only dry out if you place them in an open airspace. They will come in a small bag and be ready for use when you need them.

  • if i order a 12 pack of these will they dry out waiting to be used or are they sealed individually?

  • It is such a minor issue. Yes there is some degree of 'flavor marriage' but I sure can't tell the difference nor do I keep them for years to see it. The exception is with flavored or infused sticks - never keep those in the same humidor as other sticks!

  • you may have gotten this question before...i've been a cigar smoker for over 15 years now and i think the science of keeping them has changed over the years but i haven't kept up to date.

i've always heard that keeping cigars as you do in the humidor in this video (mostly uncellophaned and all together) will allow flavors to marry too much. based on how you're keeping yours, you don't seem concerned about that issue. why not?

  • No, gel and floral foam does not release on demand nor absorb.

  • My bad, i ment to write 70% humidity.

And about the PG it is actually a ready made mixture of PG and distilled water and as far as i know it does release humidity when needed, as you said, but can also absorb humidity when the RH level is over 70%.

I have cigars aged this way for several months and some for about a year and a half. None has got mold buildup or any sort of "cigar disease". The flavors and smells develop and age as they should.

I think i will give the packets a try anyway... :)

  • Well, 75% is high for a lot of people - PG and foam packs also do not hold any particular humidity, they simply release it - you get what you get. In some cases it's very easy to over humidify and get mold with those type of devices. These packs are two-way - they push and pull humidity to actually maintain a specific range.

  • Why should i use this?!

I use the standard floral-foam humidifier filled with PG (propylene Glycol).

Keeps almost a spot on 75% humidity. Only need to add a couple of drops every month or two.

Much cheaper and easy to use than those packs in my opinion...

  • I love these things...makes cigar storage very easy, I keep a 69% and a 72% in my humidor...keeps my humidor at 70% humidity.

  • I've been using these for over a year now and love them. Ebay is definitely the best place to get them.

  • Have you compared these with water pillows? That's what I'm using right now and I like them and find them really easy and they keep the humidity right where it should be. They are also much cheaper and last about 3 months.

  • These work great! I recharge mine when they start getting stiff by placing them in a ziploc bag with a sponge soaked in distilled water. After sitting in the ziploc bag with the sponge for a couple weeks, they are fully recharged and ready to use again.

  • I love the Boveda Humidipak. I have been using a 69% pack in my Lock 'N Lock "tupperdor." for over a year!!!
