No wonder she was depressed o.O That's a *tiny* enclosure! Who would even think about placing an animal such as a polar bear in there... That's just sad.
I can't help but think she'd be much happier somewhere closer to her natural habitat, but being a zoo animal, she'd likely not survive for long without continued care from humans. Nice to know she's happier, but I still feel sad for her..
I went to see her in July this year, she's a LOT happier now, she's been playing in the snow, the weather is a lot cooler in the Highlands. She now has 4 acres to roam about in, which is heaps better than the Edinburgh pad. Polar bears are solitary animals, they live alone most of the time and besides, she's getting old now and probably couldn't be bothered with a mate! I had tears in my eyes watching her, to think she would have been shot if she hadn't been rescued,,,
I often love these clips but occasionally they get them so wrong with their jaunty banjo music clashing so horribly with what is such a sad image. This animal should be in the wild with other polar bears, this is so so wrong.
I hate poorly made zoos. They should be BIG enclosures (make the feeding area close to where people can see them once in awhile) and very closely made to what it's like for them in their natural habitat. Not some small claustrophobic cage surrounded by people all the time and have cement for ground. Bleh. I wouldn't like that at all.
Life in Glasgow makes everybody depressed. Glaswegians are ... not good.

She needs a nicer pool to swim in...that looked like a mudhole! Glad she is not in the zoo anymore though.
