I like Ron Paul but he is too optimistic. His idea of having such low taxes and more personal responsibility sounds great,and would be great for about 70% of the people.But there is a fairly large portion of society that can't take care of themselves and would be crushed without help from the government.As of now, the worst places Americans live is in projects, but without tax money "shanty towns" or "tent cities" would begin popping up. I'd rather pay more not to live in a 3rd world country.

people will receive benefits from taxes no matter if they pay or not (think of roads, postal services, clean water).
taxes are effective because they pool large sums of money, which allows services to be subsidized. opting out will lower this effect and make it way more expensive for the rest.

I just can't see the Repubican Party nominating Ron Paul.
He's critique is absolutely correct. I'm not sure whether Americans are ready to elect an individual of his caliber (the only politician I would EVER sacrifice for) because they don't understand freedom. Americans will only vote for a libertarian, until economic collapse and all freedoms are lost.
Ron Paul from my point of view has accomplished so much. He's made me believe in freedom... not political parties.

I like Ron Paul but he is too optimistic. His idea of having such low taxes and more personal responsibility sounds great,and would be great for about 70% of the people.But there is a fairly large portion of society that can't take care of themselves and would be crushed without help from the government.As of now, the worst places Americans live is in projects, but without tax money "shanty towns" or "tent cities" would begin popping up. I'd rather pay more not to live in a 3rd world country.

@boyinTshirt ahh but you miss the point although you bring up a good point , think about this friend , how much of that money do these people spend on essential services a lot and a lot of it is provided isn't it , under a more efficient system prices would be much much lower , i know you might think this is crazy but the cost of living would go way down and you pay for any job would go way up , (in real terms) , the point is there would be a transition, RP would and will compromise.

I think you are right when you say that Paul would be able to compromise and do what's best, but this could also lead to his downfall because as seen, the people love to hate a compromising president.
