The producers tried to discredit Joan and make her an "antisaint" & delusional by suggesting that she found the sword randomly and was deceived into thinking she had a divine mission. Actually she told the French where to dig under an old church altar where she had never been in order to to find that sword. She didn't just chance upon it as the fools in this movie tried to tell us.

i have a black and white movie regarding the trial of joan of arc and it was released by a relative of joan of arc's family. joan of arc was falsely accused and she was innocent. her accusers will be retrialed as liars of the truth and may get convicted for heresy for a permanent death(in the next world). joan of arc will get the ''crown of life'' and may not need a king anyway, unless she chooses, otherwise.

i became spiritually inspired five years ago. it wasn't related to joan of arc and i decided to investigate joan of arc's spiritual revelations. her revelations were ''true'' and she was tricked into execution because the ''english'' refuse to be defeated by the french army. a king was coronated and was not by joan's side during her trial. the accusers of her trial will be damnated in the future by permanent burning.

I agree, also I have just seen this film again on TV after a few years and I just don't like it, its too self indulgent and seems to characature itself by the end of the film. Jovovich was not a good choice sadly, she was miscast, she did her best but something was not right, the battle sequences were good though, but there are better historical films out there.

i didn't like the 1999 movie. it was shot in a way that didn't really happened in joan of arc's life. every movie director has different ideas and edited sequences were difficult to decide. but, i found some interesting parts in the movie that was not part of her trial and it was a religious practice, not talked about in today's churches.

in those days, very few people were unknowingly sainted. joan of arc was sainted in the 20th century because her trial was reinvestigated by the french churches and passed on to generations. there was no proof of ''aliens'' either. joan of arc saw ''angels'' in spirit and other people didn't. she wasn't crazy or insane.

i really hate this movie, the messenger, it's just insulting to real st. joan. she wasn't a spaz and she wasn't crazy... watch the ingrid bergman version from 1948... and by the way... being burned at the stake is no walk in the park... I thought the movie was great. I believe Jean D'arc was a real heroin, but I do not believe she was sent by god. I don't believe in god or religion period, so the Dustin Hoffman scene was so satisfying.

I loved this film's beginning with the tale of the young Joan, but I couldn't buy this very blond Amazon playing a medieval French saint. Also her agent should have told the actress to hold her tongue; at the film's release she made comments about not believing in God and a rather lefthanded remark about believers being sweet to each other at church. Turned me off to her and the film before even seeing it.
