  • It's quiet....

  • Just love how it shows a man doing laundry.

  • Interesting, but I would have been more impressed had he actually showed more than just opening and closing the washer. I do like the Hybrid top-front load design, Does the drum rotate and center itself for loading? Can You provide a link to Your work,I'd like a better look at how this works.

  • Weird...I don't want my the skid marks of my underwear mixed in with my eggs and toast. In other words, I don't want my clothes washer in my kitchen... Weird...

  • thank u. 4 sharing retro washer.I had to say some thing nice. tho not one I seem to like, but interesting

  • That guy looks a little like the Hoff.

  • That kitchen is so big is looks like in that house there would be some room for a washing machine not in the kitchen.

    .

    Where's the dryier anyway?

Or do you have to put it on the line in the yard, then?

Where does one do the ironing?

    .

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • @ABigOneLikeDaddys The wash tub and dryer tub are the same. Put in the clothes and detergent, when its all done, the clothes are dry as well.

  • Love this machine, especially how it can hold the laundry basket to make loading/unloading easier. Thumbs up to you Mr Reason for coming up with a simple yet brilliant design that does not require a science degree in order to use the machine. Hopefully you will consider a washer-dryer version, too, as well as a machine that can wash at higher temperatures (better for health and stain removal). Best wishes.

  • not the best demonstration but i like the general idea! ps. did it wash and dry, as that is how it looked and also, can you get it in larger sizes so as to wash king size bed covers etc?

  • @lyteweaver Check out his blog/website; there is a video of him washing a king sized duvet. The man is an inventor and like any inventor he has to get loads of feedback and evaluate it. I expect there will be many more tweaks in the future provided that the financing is in place for R&D. Wouldn't it be great if Mr Reason becomes as famous as Mr Dyson is? How proud would Britain be then? :)

  • Why the hell would someone want a laundry machine in their kitchen where the dishwasher is supposed to go? :\ Weird. "Gee, honey, you want some skid marked underwear with your omelet?"

  • @SpazChat In the UK, it is common for the washing machine to be installed in the kitchen, firstly because you already have the plumbing for it and secondly because it is safer than installing it in the bathroom (which is the Southern European way) and the machine does not rust due to continuous exposure to steam.

  • It puts the soap and sftener in automatically and is the most energy efficient washing machine in the world taking up to 12kg of laundry. You can see a lot more on Reason washing machine blog.

  • btw I want it!!

  • did he put his clean clothes in the dirty clothes bin?? o_O

  • he didn't put soap!!!

  • @ReligionIsSophistry That's the point of this washing machine, it's designed to not need soap.

  • if its the he Best Washing Machine Ever Made then why does it look sad:(

  • that door looks so fragile i wanna sit on it

  • yeah thats Geigh !

  • The clothes hamper hook @ 0:35 is a clever touch. This is designed for the kitchen because lots of apts etc. have no other place to put it.

  • I think the makers of the washing machine got confused. They made it to look like a dishwasher and then put it in the kitchen.

  • thumbs up if u saw the clothes he poured aready clean

  • @weeareyoungmoney He's an actor and this is a demonstration. He is not going to handle someone else's poop stained boxers and panties.

  • @weeareyoungmoney They were clean except for skid marks from a sex party wipe-down that was held in the next room all the previous night long !

    .

    Go bi-guy!

    .

    Cheers.

    from,

    del-boy.

  • that was the gayest thing on youtube

  • OK, so why is this special?

  • looks ugly

  • cool

  • Should women demonstrate this? A woman's place is doing housework. A man's place is playing in the garage!

  • @Kg277 Well, I happen to have a smarter man I suppose.... He knows how to do the laundry very well...

  • @Kg277 , You'd never survive in Europe. In Europe they don't make silly issues of men demonstrating washing machinens or staying home and taking care of the kids instead of working. It's called life. I suppose you're the ass that thinks guys shouldn't be cooking either, when most of the world renowned chefs are MALE.

  • That is such fool of shit the towels came out the same way they went....dry

  • @Taxminia0311 cause it washes AND drys :D

  • Looks Like a DEath Portal For Little Children.....

    (MINI KITCHEN MORGUE for MIDGETS)

  • He puts clothes in, turns on the machine, comes back later and gets clean clothes...isn't that how all washers work? The one I got from Sears does.

  • i prefer the glass door so i can see the cat being washed and spinned

  • i always wash my clothing with out detergent :D too

  • when i was a kid, we lived in the second floor apartment of a two family house, and the only place to have the washing machine was in the kitchen. You had the waste water hose run from the washing machine to the kitchen sink. It was nothing so unusual. There was nowhere else to put it.

  • it's not the best if i can't sit in front of it and watch my clothes spin round and round. why isn't there a window on that?

  • I lived in an apartment that had a stackable washer/dryer in a closet in the kitchen. I think it is a better design than this machine because it could hold more clothes. Then in another apartment it had a stackable High Efficiency front loading washer/dryer, in a closet. This combo was fantastic with the enormous amount of laundry it could do at once.

  • i bet it spin speed is very slow about 800 the most

  • @beboploo don't be fooled by rpm claims - my Hoover spins at 1400 rpm but my mother's ancient Philco spins at 1200 and the clothes come out dryer and less damaged than mine. It is easy to get carried away by wanting larger and higher stats. E.g. washing machines that can do a 12 kg wash... fine, you save time and money BUT who wants to lift 12 kg plus whatever extra weight the clothes carry in water to hang out to dry? There are no clothes airers designed to hold 12 kgs of washing...

  • can you buy it somewhere?

  • now if it steamed and dried it would be perfect!!!!! Oh and if i could ship it to Oz for all my laundry needs... :-)

  • now if it steamed and dried it would be perfect!!!!!

  • Where do you put the gas? I don't get it! WHERE'S THE GAS HOLE

  • @funkinstein Natural gas? It is most likely all electric.

  • That is a night mare waiting to happen..

  • wtf do u know how to wash u put whites with dark

  • Okay where the hell is the dryer...

  • i hate these people think these are dish washers

  • the music for some reason makes me want to say merry Christmas my little washer..

  • That is so freakin' bizarre. A clothes washer that looks like a dishwasher. But why would I want a clothes washer in my kitchen? I guess it's a European thing.

  • U-G-L-Y UGLY!Horrid desighn

  • there is one downside: you have to get down to grab the clothes.

  • @ableite There seems to be less bending and stretching involved than with a traditional front-loader machine but I guess we'll have to wait till these machines hit the high street shops to say for sure.

  • Clever!

  • WOW! Amazing is look like future washing-machine these. I'll never heard that before!!!

  • @NESTABROWN9 lol hardly. these washer and dryer in one combos have been around for years. they blow. they dont wash too good. nor dry good either. and they break all the time. and no one will repair them. because they are impossible to work on. and forget trying to find parts for oddballs like this lol.

  • @NESTABROWN9 I see. Looked good isn't, but I not realise that works anyway.

  • It looks like he's way too gentle on that machine. Show a family with kids using it and THEN see how sturdy that thing is.

  • Many Euro kitchens you will find a single unit washer and dryer, rather than separate units with a devoted laundry room/closet. Efficient use of space and plumbing/wiring, although not suitable to every person/family, perfect for smaller quarters.

  • From a distance it looks like a dishwasher. That's a nice disign. Where is it built and how much does it cost?

  • dont think this is a good idea at all

  • ok, my thoughts of this... why is the washing machine in the kitchen? if its in there, then why isnt the dryer in there as well? and most importantly, why isnt there a woman in there doing all that and making me my bacon sammich?

  • @hellsmaw84 Hmm, probably because you've made yourself a well known sexist, therefore no woman WANTS to be in there making you a ''bacon sammich.''

  • @dancesonpoles wow, someone needs to take a joke and quit being so damn serious.

  • most people have washing machines in the kitchen...?

  • Does anybody know some specifications of this washing machine? Like spin speed or more. And how the hell does the drum get closed? Automatic or something?!

  • This is so dumb you nerds have nothing ti do with ur life if u make videos like tht

  • @candh27

Nerds? I think you have mistaken people that are marketing a product for nerds. Of course, you are an airhead, so I am typing slowly so that you might have time to comprehend.

  • I don't think Sven actually washed anything.

  • I think a washing machine in the kitchen is cool! But I HATE that design! (PUKE)

  • Yeah in my dream... hehehe :-) Miele?

  • Not odd wonder if we see that on usa market any time soon looks like a dishwasher at first look.......when opens door looks like one those type CBW tunnels washer i use to run in a hosp. type laundrys

  • well.. an no one ever heard of the reason again, did they?

  • in the kitchen??

  • @virgogreg

Europeans usually don't have a separate laundry room - so it's usually integrated with the kitchen.

What is unusual about this video is the machine is in the middle of the kitchen not confirmed to one side.

  • @NeoFalcon69

That's not about being European, the cleaning action for the things must be in a room not in spare room (s) . Industrial design rules :P

  • Comment removed

  • @virgogreg Thats how we roll here in the UK mate, LOL. I know it's a bloody shame!

  • @virgogreg why not in the kitchen? This is obviously for apartments or condos, not houses. Apartments are usually smaller and don't have a separate laundry room, so the dishwasher and washer/dryer sometimes are located in the kitchen, esp. if its a washer/dryer combo, such as the ones LG has now.

  • @virgogreg I have had 2 apartments that have had a washer and dryer in the kitchen. Comes in very handy!!

  • @virgogreg It's more convenient if you put all the appliances in the womans natural habitat.

  • @Blackoutx86

lol and have a man do the laundry

  • @Blackoutx86 That's so funny.

  • @virgogreg

    Europeans save space by

puting the washing machine in the kitchen

  • Bad construction

  • @abagoff When we bought our first home, it had an ancient washer in the basement that was nothing more than a motorized cylinder-drum made of wood..in a zinc tub. Worked great! But it had no on-off switch. On was plug it in...off was unplug it! Too cool!!

  • @MissPickletoes ahhh, reminds me of the old maytag wringer-washer that i had. ya had to put the clothes through the wringer, and hook it up to a garden hose to drain it. simple times...lol....

  • @abagoff Das ist DEMO, deshalb keine Echt.!!!

  • its not the best u cant see inside it thats the best bit

  • That' s so bad... I like watching my men's underwear to wash...ok tecnology but classic design is better than this one. do you agree?

I don't like washing machines like these as i can't see my men's underwear to wash, i can see the spin...not this one is bad.

  • Interesting but all that glitters is not gold! I'm amazed at the false speculation they make on their web site: of course they have to promote their product, but I find ridiculous to praise it for its ability to weigh the load and use the right amount of water + wash at 15°: all machines can do that... by turning the temp dial to 0° does not actually mean that you're going to get ice cubes into your wash :P

Also, try unloading small items without bending down!

  • front loaders are starting to get a bad reputation because of the poor construction. Vibration is a problem so of course the electronic circuit board gets shaken off it's plastic mountings and kills the operation. if you watch other videos on front loaders posted here the owners demonstrate the corrosion and early wear of the drums and other components. low grade materials and high price is what's killing any acceptance of something that looks so flimsy. I have a front loader BTW.

  • Front loaders have been popular in Europe for decades, at least since the 70s.

  • Front loaders have been available in the USA since the late 30's, but only in the last 5-8 years has there been any mass manufacturing of front loaders. White Consolidated Industries had the White Westinghouse front loader from the 70's - about 1994 or 1995. Before 1975, it was Westinghouse. Bendix was another brand of front loaders (mostly washer/dryer combos) up 'til the 70's or 80's. My Frigidaire FL from 1999 is still working today. I've heard about todays' FL washers breaking down.

  • @kennyt1230 Actually the front loaders that have these problems are in the u.s.LEAVE FRONTLOAD DESIGHN TO THE EUROPEANS THEY HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE IN THE DESIGN.

  • @Chris242tt Hey Chris. If you look into manufacturing, you'll see that all front loaders are made overseas and shipped here. The only truly american made washer is but imported here. Sears Kenmore washers are made by LG, for example. Staber is the only US maker of washing machines. However, it is a top load horizontal axis.

  • @kennyt1230 miele is probably the only front loader i would buy,but they are so expensive! I dont care for LG but staber is awsome too.Haier front loaders-no way!

  • @kennyt1230 The Kenmore Elite steem washer is made by LG. The regular Kenmore machines ( front loading and top loading) are built by Whirlpool. In fact, whirlpool has been making Kenmore washers since the early 1900s. The smaller space savers are built by Fridgidaire.

  • it looks really flimsy, the way the drum rolls out you can see the guy is trying to hold it steady so it doesnt rock from side to side, maybe this another piece of junk from Mr dyson that he is going to unleash on the world, if it is it from Dyson then it certainly wont be the best washing machine ever made that is for sure!

  • If that washing machine came with a dryer, I'd find a way to rape it.

  • I'm interested to see how this work, looks like there could be a lot to go wrong maybe with the machanics of the machines like that

  • I think the web site is really cool, like a friend of mine said it looks as if a really clever kid has designed it with none of the baggage of a big corporate, to me the product looks like a kind of iPod of washing machines... keen to see more...

  • Check out the web site at midday GMT on 26/11 to see more! it's for real for sure!

  • I don't think this is real because that white towel was on top at the beginning & it was on top at the end!

  • Yeah probably because the video is for the video there is no need to do a wash for the loading/unloading demo. What do u think of the machine? I dont like it

  • Look closely Mat, you will find the white towel DID get relocated!

  • Very interesting.

  • now that is just fabulous. no bending down, and since the drum slides out i am intreaged to see how it works.

  • I'm speechless!! Really I cannot imagine my old Ignis Superautomatica impressed so much washing-macihnes inventors!! Nothing of new for me talking obut "sliding" to load or a TLHA washers, neither with touch-n-go (but with a 45 y.o. machine!). Wonder about the outertub suspension system and the rear shaft going in-n-out.

I don't like it, because if you can't see inside the same would be a FL otherwise why not a top loading horizontal axis.

  • this is awesome! just one button for simplicity and it remembers the three washes you use most often-most times you use it you simply walk up to the machine, turn it on, drop in your clothes, close the door, press the button to start and walk away - no need to bend down to load and unload and no need to reprogram it each time you use it... plus a 10kg wash capacity - amazing! it will forever change the way that people interact with the washing machine... this could be huge...

  • good idea kinda, It would still rely on a base principle of filling the cleaning liquids yourself and combination tumble drier / washing machines are already around...To impress the public the only true next step is to have it fold the laundry and put it away for you!

  • i want one!!
