I was lucky enough to have known Chuck back in those days. We were never close friends but I first met him a few years before this, before any fame or MTV videos anyway. The cool thing about Chuck was that he REALLY played because of his love for the music. He NEVER did it for the money or the fame of it all. Chuck loved meeting his fans...even idiots like these guys. He really was a very cool dude. The most fun of my teenage life was at the 10 or so Death shows I went to see...damn, I'm old!!!

I agree...although the political lyrics lean more towards the grindcore genre. Chuck's lyrics were way ahead of it's time in my opinion, especially on the Spiritual Healing album which seemed to go after everything from drug use, human cloning, the US justice system and fake spiritual healers.

grindcore is again a type of music, but most grindcore bands do have political lyrics (carcass had medical lyrics). Death seems laid back in the sense that the music is more thought about not like "its fast! thats great!" (although that can still be good). Its more meaningful.
