It is a PUNJABI song which predates 1947....so quit the unnecessary debate on which country owns it and enjoy the poetic and musical expression of our culture. Incidentally, this song has been performed by a variety of singers for decades.

@AyazBokhari Here is the thing! Many folk songs do predate 1947 but 99% of the time Pakistani singers bring them back to life! Pakistani composers give them a tune and renew them and then all of a sudden all Indian singers realize they should sing it too. If the credit should go for anything it should go to Pakistani singers for bringing all these regional and folk songs back to life so yeah the fight is still on!
