  • You know, I was going to buy your app. But when I tried to install it I got the message "This application can only be used on an iPhone."

Why should ToneBoard be iPhone-only? It doesn't require a microphone or speakers. You're locking out thousands of potential buyers who would like to install your app on their iPod Touches.

I hope you enable ToneBoard for iPods soon. In the meantime, I'm waiting on a similar app called Melodica that will come out in a few days. Hopefully it will work for me.

  • Thank you, JMAG117. I just tried to download it by myself. It works on iPod Touch.

ToneBoard is only for iPod or iPhone version 2 and above. What is your version?

    Can you try again?

I am working on version 2 which will be released soon. I bet that ToneBoard will worth your payment.

  • Also, I tried to install the app on my friend's iPod version 2.1 (5F137). When I go to ToneBoard in the App Store, the Buy icon won't even appear. So something's definitely wrong.

I hope you get this fixed soon. Porting Tone Matrix to the iPhone is a cool idea, and I bet there are a lot of iPod owners trying to get your app.

  • PS: You need to add contact info to the ToneBoard entry. Right now there's no email or website info at all, and people can't leave comments until they install it. I had to google your name, found ToneBoard on an app directory that had a link to your blog (which had no email to contact or even a place to leave comments), and then followed the link to the YouTube demo and commented.

  • I will let my friend try and give you feedback soon. My iPod version is the same as yours. Anyway, thank you for your support. I will get back to you soon

  • I have good news and bad news. Good news: the app now installs on my iPod, no problem. Either you work very fast or this was a fluke.

Bad new? There's no sound! Other apps worked fine but ToneBoard didn't make a peep. The grid lights up and animates but that's it. I tried resetting and even deleted/reinstalled the app, but no dice. The app is completely mute. I notice from the reviews that I'm not the only one with this problem... Is that why it wasn't set for the iPod, b/c it WAS incompatible?

  • Today, my friend downloaded and the app is working fun on his iPhone. His iPhone is the same version as yours. I also have reviewed all the comments. Some said it did not work while others said it worked.

Is it because your phone is jailbroken? A user said that it does not work on a jailbroken iphone.

Thank you so much for supporting this. I will continue to put hard work on it.

  • And version 2 is going to be released soon. You can try it later to see if you still have the same problem or not. It will be offered as a free update.

I am very confused. I tested it on ipod and iphone. And my friends downloaded them on iphone and ipod and they are working fine.

And some users also states that it works.

  • No, my iPod is not jailbroken, and neither is my brother's. My guess is that your code us a little buggy, so that certain minor differences in firmware make a big difference in terms of performance.

PS: For anybody reading, the comments above are *not* spam. I just split my response to Felix into three parts one after another because it was too long for one comment. Somebody must have marked it as spam inaccurately.

  • I am investigating it. Thanks!!

  • I think I found the problem and will update it with version 2.
