I am pretty rubbish at arabic but I have spent time learning to read the letter sounds and it is the best way to learn otherwise you are really really wasting your time as no one understands anything you say.

@irfand4 Yeah, but I think they refer to two different kinds of brown. Asmar is more like bronze (lighter) whereas buni is brown like the ground (darker; the shade you traditionally think of when someone says "brown").
@sajchery If you are serious about learning the language, I would suggest staying away from transliterations as a lot of the letters do not exist in English, thus making your pronunciation off. Trust me, transliterations are NOT your friend, they make everything, expecially reading, hearder then it needs to be.

Huh, I learned orange to simply be pronounced "oorange" with of course the rolled "r". (Sorry, this isn't my computer so I can't spell it in Arabic)
