  • Frickn kick Ass!!!

  • When i saw NY backed up by Booker T and the MGs in stockholm in the early 90´s, Pearl Jam was the starting act. They also came on last and they did this setup as the last song of the night. It ended with the right speaker stack catching fire, destroying perhaps half the stack. It was awesome to see the magnets glowing in there........It was loud...and very very awesome... :)

  • @ravenstr1 OH YES!

  • fuckn awesome

  • fucking immense.

  • neil IS the man

  • all that smoke= POT!

  • hands down the greatest rock and roller of all time. He is a genius and I told him so. Neil is my cosmic connection! Eddie Vedder is my boy toy, but he doesn't know it. Watch Neil. fuckin ay.

  • @MsBetherain oh yes!!

  • oh beautifull

  • One of the best Canadians yet born, along with Margaret Atwood and Fred Eaglesmith and my late father, born London, Ontario, who fought for Canada in WW II; and my relative Leslie, who died in France in 1917, age 20. My generation was aesthetically spoiled to death, on Neil and Jimi and the Doors. Now, all I see is the pop tarts. To quote David Crosby's anthem dismissal, "They can't play, they can't sing, and they can't write." All they can do is writhe around onstage like prostitutes.

  • YeaH!

  • Wow! The best singer-songwriter at his best!

  • Tremendo!!!!!

  • GOOD JAM

  • !!!!!!!!

  • so much energy and soul !

  • this VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS 1993.....the days when MTV was the greatest music channel in the world !!

    R.I.P MTV..

  • @themahermax Agreed

  • @themahermax now MTV is full of SHIT! :)

  • this is real Rock, thank God

  • While I do like seeing my favorite musician of all time: Neil Young and one of the better if not original bands over the last 20 years: Pearl Jam together...this version is waaaaaaaaaaay to slow. I honestly can't get behind this version being one of the best. Obviously versions are going to differ from version to version but Neil with Buffalo Springfled BLOWS THIS VERSION AWAY and that's him and them in their mid 60s...this is just an underwhelming version especially for its time.

  • @BarstoolBlues33 True, this is even slower than with Crazy Horse. The best video of this song is from SNL right around '89 or so. Bruce Willis was the host..

  • @BarstoolBlues33 I actually think MTV, or whoever is in the soundbooth, didn't mic up Neil's guitar through most of it. You can see him going wild but the lead guitar sound simply doesn't sync w/ Neil's for most of the vid. I've been to about half a dozen neil shows over the last 15 years...he was/is way too raw for MTV so they just cued a back up guitar for most of it...and that's when MTV played music!

  • 66 people out of 2,000,000+ don't appreciate Neil Young's sideburns. Guess you are the same people trashing London?

  • I seen this live and It was the best live perform-us ever, Neil Young is underrated, Keep on rockin.

  • @iqgray I saw Neil live as well, I've seen the Stones and Aerosmith, Jetro Tull, you name em I've seen them but Neil was the best hands down. A crowd of 20,000 all ages 16 to 60 everyone having a hell of a time. Neil played with a band for about 40 minutes and then came out on to a darkened stage and sang, "Its too dark to put the keys in my ignition" the house lights came up and the place went nuts. Played for two hours and everyone walked out saying "I wish he had played..."

  • it was amazing....both of them......KEEP ON ROCKIN`...

  • damn it, this was mtv, I remember this one, PJ playing animal, I remember kurt playing the initial riff of rape me just to piss of the protors and krist being hitted by his bass, NIN, beck, metallica....

  • @hungerstriker27 good mem i have it on vhs right off the tv so i know what you are talking about!

  • @tserrof3693

I´m sorry but I remember those times... kurt destroying the set while dave took the mike and began to make fun of "hi axl, hi axl..." Proud member of the so called generation X.... present.

  • hopefully PJ20 brings one thousand times these intimate moments

  • looks like they had a fantastic time! miss watching my guy play..:(

  • The smashing of the guitars and mic stand really set this video off. After you've rocked a classic to perfection with the icon who wrote it, what is there left to do besides smashing fucking everything?

  • shit. my dad was there O.o

  • 100% BAD ASS = MUTTON CHOPS + EPIC SONG

  • I JUST WATCHED IT AGAIN! STILL AWESOME!

  • I was silent that entire video. Just staring, transfixed on the screen, mouth agape. And the second it ended I honestly said "Oh my god. That's the greatest fucking video I've ever seen."

Holy batman shit. Life will ne'er be the same.

  • Mutton chops and Neil Young, always in style!

  • I was at one of their concerts in Portland, OR. and I can tell you it was amazing. When they performed this song, the audience went crazy. It was incredible. I cannot explain the energy when these 2 got together up there on that stage to perform this song. You could see the mutual respect and admiration from both Young and Vedder. What a moment in time that was. And I just stared at Neil Young, unable to believe he was just about 20 feet in front of me. What a memory. The music was GREAT.

  • dang neil young rocks

  • perfectly stated. PURE MUSIC

  • fuck yeah to that pablo!

  • first time i watched this i got chills up my spine! now 17 years later ..brrrrrrrrrrrrr..

  • ROCK N ROLL

  • EPIC!!!!

  • Never heard Vedder get his voice that high before. Awesome

  • the only thing i dislike about this clip is that the uploader chopped it into a letterbox/widescreen format partially cutting off the top and bottom of the original format. it was filmed in a standard television format not widescreen. Other than that its awesome.

  • Love it when legends-in-the-making get on stage with a living one. Thanks for the video.

  • The Greatest musicians on the planet!!

  • love this, Neil rocks and love Pearl Jam, great band great song!!!!!!!!

  • I watched Neil Young play the Gorge amphitheater in Washington in a driving thunderstorm. We were all soaked but happy. I swear he didn't even notice it was pouring down and lightning-ing on him. He played several hours. I thought he was going to get electrocuted- we all were- but we would have gone to rock-n-roll heaven I guess.

  • neil young is the best songwriter and musician ever

  • @91mladjo after the Beatles, of course

  • @91mladjo Oh come on! He's great, but he would be the first to admit he's not that great!

If you said he is the last man standing from 60's Rock who still has the potential to do his best work in 2013,

then I might agree with you!

  • Poor Eddie... Star Struck by his Hero..or did he smoke a really good one? Love them BOTH with all my heart! WOW!

  • This is too cool to talk about ! Just feel it !

  • thats great music, RocknRoll can never die

  • wow!!! i am blown away like a hurricane! on a scale of one to ten its a eleven!

  • @smithmman 22 !

  • I've seen few joint performances that came together like this one.

Gives me the shivers every time I hear it. Or watch the video. And the front man for Pearl Jam is uber cool the way he mixes it and interacts with Neil. Uber cool. Uber Ales!

  • @seanoda236 Respects him ;) it is too cool !

  • they're on the wave !

  • what a cool performance :)

  • i remember seeing this in 93 as a 11 year old and thinking it was a deep song even then...neil young and pearl jam rocks

  • Eargasm.

  • HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING

  • hell yea neil.. take notes, neil invented grunge

  • Comment removed

  • YES

  • 95, Heyday 2 in Roskilde - I was there and I really enjoyed this combi - I am one of those, who knew Neil Young first, but off course I like both : )

  • SUBLIME

  • that is what its all about!!!!!

  • You got love how into it Neil Young gets when he's jammin!!!! This is music, not whatever that stuff is they're shitting out now and calling music.

  • In 93 Neil Young was considered old hat .Thanks to Pearl Jam for beleiving in the sound .Neil Young is as vital now as ever in this time as are Pearl Jam

  • Thumbs up if you get that tingly feeling when the chorus hits.

  • This is the equivalent of me playing Master of Puppets with James, Lars, Kirk and Robert. I think I know exactly how Eddie feels in this video.

  • i want neil young's music on my funeral

  • this is the best thing on the story of the universe, nothing ever done before or after in any dimension or time will surpass this

  • I believe this was from SNL. The procducers of the show we're very nervous as Neil didnt show up until 15 minutes befor they had to go on. He shows up with his guitar and goes onstage and they give this asskicking performance. I remember watching it live. It remininded me of when I saw Woodstock for the first time. To steal from Pete, "LONG LIVE ROCK".

  • eddie and neil sound good as one

  • Magnifique! Merci beaucoup, mon ami. “My Country 'tis of thee"…! Somebody SCREAM!!! :O “Keep on Rock' In The Free World!” Bonjour!

  • Fantastic song!!

  • 63 people can't rock in the free world ...

  • 63 pessoas preferem curtir Neil Young apenas com voz, violão e gaita.

  • the highlight of the video is the guitarist in the end who tries but cannot break his guitar!

  • And on the 8th day god created neil youngs sideburns

  • @lattrella and on the 9th day i farted in your fuckin face

on the 10th day i farted in your fuckin face

on the 11th day i farted in your fuckin moms face

    bitch

  • @fuggindoosh Obvious troll is obvious

  • @Annonymus121 My papa can bench 12 pounds of steaming spagettie n fukin clobbered the last guy who discheesed me, long story short he would clock you one of pry the noodles from his cold dead hands trying

  • something real about this set-up.

    raw and to the point

    combination hectic

  • first music awards for mtv wow

  • the old man puts the kids to shame - and Pearl Jam is my favorite band - me likey!

  • KaPOW....this shit gives me the tingles... just like the carlton draught tingles

  • Neil - Canada's boon

    Beiber - Canada's bane

  • it should be Canada nation anthem

  • Neil ,a true Canadian through and through , one of our best.
