WOW! You really have a wonderful mind! I'm a good painter, but I lack the creativity that you have. I'm 46 years old and have painted more cars than I can remember, but this little trick that you came up with is so simple, but I would have never even came close to what you did off the top of your head. U da man!
Killer job man. Im actually doing a welding helmet for a friend. I was thinking of using my striping brush to stack little dots to imitate a weld bot the body filler looks great. Gotta love custom paint cause i dont think theres a wrong way you know? You do some great work dude, screw the haters. Check out my channel.

a buddy of mine airbrushed my welding hood and i hate to say due to the nature of welding it looks like its been to hell n back from all the slag and burn marks but that kinda paint job will just keep looking better and better from the damage i love it awesome concept to an amazing product dude
People that knock you for showing them something are JEALOUS!!! Let's see their work. Probably NEVER painted anything in their life. The world is full of assholes like these guys. Your best to just IGNORE them...
It astounds me at the ignorance of those who can only criticize and contribute nothing to the conversation. Nice work, creative, instructive and professional. I've been painting for over 40 years and I am still excited to see the techniques that are being developed by you new guys. Well done.
Yeah, It bothers me when I get criticized for my methods. I've been painting cars since I was a very young kid and have been working on the line with my dad at many collision repair shops since I was 14. These aren't body and prep work videos. These are airbrush videos meant to invoke creativity. I assure you that I know my shit when it comes to paint and body.
Yes I know, but I've been doing it for years and didn't have any disposable sheets around or time to clean my pallet since I was using a tube to squirt out the bondo. Putting bondo on cardboard isn't that big of a deal unless you let it sit on it for a long time. The 30 seconds that I had it on there isn't hurting anything.
Geezz..you do everything backasswards...first you scuff it and then degrease and clean it...just to tape it up and take a grinder to it for creases...then you scratch the front to give it a " machined look " only to spoil it all with a coat of nice shiny clear coat??
Backasswards?? The hood was pretty old so cleaning it before grinding all of the surface oil and grease deep into the scratches is a definite. I cleaned it again before I painted it too. As for the "machined scratches".. Being that this was and an experiment and I was working on fiberglass instead of hard metal the scratches looked great under the metallic as apposed to on top. My friend that owns this hood asked that I use a shiny clear. He had the option of a dull finish too.
@BerserkCustomPaint - OK, bassakwards or not, I think it looks great! I have been out of the AB loop for a few years and now I just got my shop built. I love your faux weld project and I can't wait for the weekend so I can try it. Great job! I am subscribing to your vids. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent job buddy. I liked it a lot. As "oneslowride" so rightly typed: The weld in a bottle, what a great idea. May i ask where you got that idea?

I thought of using the bottle the night before when I was trying to sleep. LOL That's when I get most of my ideas.
