I think this performance sums up everything I like about Madonna - timeless songs that sound great even without studio sheen, her adaptability, the fact that she doesn't take herself too seriously despite the fact she's singing this song at a show promoting one of her most artistically "serious" albums...

She still sounds amazing singing it in the original key too - shame she does so many of the older songs down a tone nowadays.

Well she is usually doing her older stuff on tour, not in one off performances. While Like A Virgin was very pretty that high, she naturally doesn't sing that high, especially if she has to sing for an extended period of time.
