Ummm... how does your Catalyst Control Center look like that? Mine only looks like a slightly modified "Graphics Properties" menu. It doesn't have the "Display and Drivers" option.

@fenderguy0982 If you haven't found out yet, do like this: Start up your Catalyst Control Center. Go into "My Digital Flat Panels" and choose the tab that says "Scaling Options". The bar is positioned in the middle, but you want the full screen, so all you do is drag the bar to the right (where it says "overscan") and voilá! :)

2 things though:

1 you don't need to be in the lowest resolution (worked for a resolution in between for me). Couldn't hit ok in lowest resolution.

2. you can also use "keep aspect ratio". that way the picture won't get distorted (useful if you're playing a game that doesn't have the same aspect ratio as your monitor)

Hey people, I use Nvidia so this might be useful for people who have Nvidia drivers. Download the Nvidia driver and enter the control panel, the part where it says adjust position or size of screen. It should have something that says "execute dimensioning in" and you should have two options:set it to GPU. I don't know if it works for everybody, but it I don't think it will hurt and it worked for me so, good luck :)

@juliustoys it seems that ati/amd changed the process on how to remove the black bars... I don't really know why it is underscanned by default... probably it's to encourage (or annoy) people to download the catalyst drivers. You will have to go to right click desktop>AMD Vision Engine Control Center (Or ATI Catalyst, depending on your version... mine's the latest since AMD decided to drop ATI so that's why it changed names) then click 'My Digital Flat Panels>Scaling options and set overscan to 0

I need some serious help. I had this problem earlier when I updated to CCC 10.5, but resolved it exactly the way you showed in the video. The thing is that I cant find any of the options in the new CCC 11.5, because they have changed the interface. Now my games fill the complete screen ONLY when I use the highest possible resolution ( 22" @ 1920x1080). I wont fit the screen at 1600x900 or 1280x800, but leaves me with two huge black bars at the top and bottom. Can anyone please help me? Thanks.

i'm playing assassins creed and i'm having black bars too. i'm using nvidia and i have the latest driver version.still having black bars in highest resolution. but if change my resolution to 1360 x 768 in game, it appears to be full screen, but the video is not clear as the highest resolution. help me with this man. i want my highest resolution in full screen.

@loggerpitch you need the nvidia control panel then on the left side there options highlighted in blue... i think it is on the third option from the top to the bottom try it and tell me if you could do it

@UndeadLromor still won't work man. i open nvidia control panel and put it n the lowest resolution then changing it to use nvidia scaling then putting it back again to highest resolution but still having black bars. i think assassins creed is really intended to play on a 16:9 widescreen

@strxshooter search for your nvidia control panel and find the settings that says change flat panel scaling. if you will notice your settings are use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio. Change it to Use Nvida Scaling. Try this if this will work.
