Yeah, once you learn his patterns and learn a strategy, Nightmare's pretty easy to beat. Although I remember the first time I played through Fusion, many a time I was killed over and over, to the point that I felt like I wanted to cry and smash the fuck out of the GBA, only to try again...and again...and again...and again...until I finally defeated him. Good times. =)

This boss can easily become the most difficult in the game. If you start making mistakes, things quickly become difficult. But if you manage to control the situation like this guy did, nightmare becomes one of the easiest bosses in game. It just happened for most times i fought him, id make a mistake an hed become way harder than he had to be.

This guy is a bitch on the 1% run, for sure the hardest of the bosses on that one. I think it's 3 max hits and you die, and only 15 missiles (Or if you ae a godlike player, you can do 0% with 10 missiles).

you know, this boss would be so incredibly easy if people would just use their brains and instead of running under him to hit the gravity manipulator, just stand outside his arms and aim diagonally up to the right and shoot charge shots when he flies up (NEVER USE MISSILES IN METROID BOSS FIGHTS). i've gotten through this boss with only one hit from him (i don't recall ever getting passed him without getting hit at all though).

Nightmare is the only boss I know of on MF that you CAN'T do a perfect run against, because you end up touching him when you're shooting at his gravity controller (whatever you call it).

@ShabobaX I gave up on beating Gedo fairly, he's the only boss I have trouble with. However all I did was max out my total energy and missile capacity. I never use infinite health, that takes all of the fun out of it.

On the 1% run you can only survive I think two hits (If it isn't 2, then it's 1), so it makes him a little more annoying. You also only have 15 missiles.

dude i figured this strategy out the first time i played this when i was 9. im not trying to be a jerk or a smartass. but still. youd think alot of people would get this right. i mean. missles are useless in the first form because they just fall to the ground from gravity. plus wouldnt you think people would figure out you can spam missles on its second form. but still. i gues i shouldnt be a jerk. you still finished it quick and easy. I had depended on charged beams more than missles even before trying a 1% run though, so I was really good at using them. Plus charged beams were more powerful than missles, at least, in the later parts of the game. But the stupid spider... I hated that thing so much. I swear they put him in there just to mess with 1% runners...

You must be thinking of the starting energy of 99.

Otherwise you'd get to 14 Energy Tanks and be maxed out at 85.

Question about the second part of the battle: does he track your position when he sways at you, or does he have a fixed pattern? Because to me he seems to be all over the place, sometimes he tracks, sometimes not. It is so ramdom, really obnoxious.

He tracks you. Although he doesn't dive straight for you, your position only slowly affects his velocity.

Heh, good call. A real gamer plans out their own route to kicking ass and doesn't phone it in. Like myself, I got the GBA cartidge (not emulator, so I have to play the game as was intended), and my speed record is just under 2 hours (not 100% item, tho).
