@BlackenedForLife i agree this is just soooo boring. its pretty bad when Goldberg skills look like a Jericho's when wrestling hogan and flair lololol!
I think this was the only time anyone has ever kicked out of Goldberg's Jackhammer. They probably intended fro Nash to come in and make the save......but Nash couldn't get in the ring in time...so Hogan kicked out naturally. Although it would have been nice to see Hogan Hulk up, start, shaking and run wild on Goldberg.
HAHAHA... no. Nash's timing was poor (imagine that) and Flair acted right by kicking Goldberg in the head to knock off the pin. Hogan doesn't kick out of it. Pay attention at 7:31 to Flair making the impromptu adjustment.
are you shitting me son. crow sting was the greatest thing that happened to wcw. in 96-97-98 sting was the most popular wrestler next to steve austin . his fandom was unfuckin believable till the end.
wcw died for hundreds of well documented reasons.....sting damn sure wasn't one of 'em
@sayanroy36 We all know crow sting was awesome, we all agree to that point. I was just saying that WCW inability to develop any other characters (or maintain characters) and their inability to write good story lines is why WCW failed. Like you said..for 3 years all they had was the crow sting gimmic. It was cool but it got old. Thats all I am saying.
This is when they should've been pushing Benoit, Guerrero, Jericho, Mysterio against the likes of DDP, Flair, Nash, Steiner, Hogan and Sting while focusing on a Bret Hart and Goldberg feud. Well, Hogan got injured and Owen died. It was stupid to bring in Sid and Macho Man as active competitors and have them feud against Sting, Hogan, Nash.
Bad idea to put the belt on DDP and have Nash win it.
Yeah I almost forgot about this match...Hogan kicking out after the Jackhammer slam. Maybe it was supposed to be Nash breaking up the pin but he was too slow getting there so Hogan had to kick out? It kinda looked like the Referee was looking for Nash before he started the count. I could be wrong....Either way, Hogan did kick out.
rkoduke, the beginning of the end was @ starrcade 98 and the following week with the bogus nash-hogan finger poke match...2nd worst decision ever by wcw was making nash the booker, 1st being russo. I mean the basically buried Goldberg, think about it, he was world champ and red hot then nash buries him, proof in point, flair not goldberg fueded with nwo (again) and goldberg is put in an undercard fued w/ bam bam, that was the death of wcw.
@clintneff The death of WCW had nothing to do with Kevin Nash or the NWO it was financial. WCW spent way too much money, ASSUMING the buyrates would make up for it. By the time Russo was there it was already over he just sped things up.
And fuck Goldberg. He doesnt LIVE wrestling its just a job to him. His "streak" bored the shit out of me and many others. Powerplant guys suck. His push was OBSURD and he didn't draw like ppl think he did. And he hurt everyone he wrestled.
@DUBtheTIGER Hall and Nash had a big part of putting wcw in financial pains. First off they were given huge contracts,on top of that, a stipulation of their contracts was that no matter what they would always be the highest paid guys. So when people like Bret Hart came along with a HUGE contract...Halls' and Nash's contracts increased...
@MrMolmem I know all of that. Who the hell wouldn't take more money? If YOU were offered to make triple what you do now, with the potential for an even greater increase, and only be required to work half the days, I hope to God you're smart enough to take the money.
That's Bischoff and WCW corporate's fault. Between Sting, Hart, Hall, Nash, Hogan and Savage- just 6 of their guys (don't even need to name more), we're talking about roughly 20m. 20 MILLION for 6 guys? That's WCW's own damn fault
@MrMolmem Not to mention that when WCW went belly up, they still managed to pay off alllll the contracts that hadn't been fufilled...so that means that AFTER it failed, they still dumped out somewhere between 50 and 100m to guys who were sitting at home. Safe to say that Hall and Nash's contracts weren't that big a part of it. There's soooo much more to it than just what this billion-dollar-corp paid a few guys.
But like I said, no one in their right mind would say no- can't blame them for it
@MrMolmem my whole thing is that there's no reason to blame those two guys for saying "sure, I'll take way more money". Especially when they first signed, I'm sure they thought Ted's wallet was infinite. If there's going to be blame, it should go to whoever signed the checks
@DUBtheTIGER there's a lot of blame in a lot of places, bischoff for throwing around turner's money, the nwo crew for taking over air time and running a lot of the behind the scenes crap, and allowing themselves to become beyond stale. Tuner for not being more responsible. and who ever decided to hire russo.
I was FURIOUS they never had Sting go after the wolfpac at this point. I mean wouldn't he be mad at Kevin Nash and Luger for joining up with their rivals from a few months previous? This could have been the final WCW vs. NWO and instead...well instead we got a huge clusterfuck and the NWO getting cheered over the WCW guys because they always kicked their asses and were "cooler". If ANYTHING would have turned the fans back on WCW's side it would have been STING.
Hogan kicks out of a Goldberg spear, beats him to his feet, and then kicks out of the Jackhammer thanks to a kick to the head of Goldberg from Flair (albeit because Nash was too slow to get to the ring to interfere). That's too unrealistic on the terms of wrestling for me to accept. Then Sting does nothing. A poor ending to a rather boring match. Thanks for sharing though. I love the nostalgia. RIP Macho.
@big dave yeah, hes the first one i remembered that did that, too bad he didnt kick out of the jackhammer when he first defended his title against goldberg
He would destroy you with a cheap shot to the groin! LOL! or maybe the legendary 'eye' poke! followed by a Woooooooooooo! and a figure 4 leg lock! haha!!
I agree that now maybe it is time for them to just let it go.. but it's all they know.. but at that time in 1999 they were still good in my opinion.. they were still strong and entertaining..
I heard they are going to do a nitro DVD set. DDP is going to host it...And this match will be on it. You know this is the closest we ever got to a rematch between Hogan and Goldberg. They should have had a saries of match like Hogan had with Andre back in 87-88. 4 big matchs match one Goldberg wins match 2 Hogan wins match 3 draw like Hogin and Andre WM 4 match and match 4 Goldberg wins passing the tarch to from Hogin to goldberg. Another WCW mistake waw not having Goldberg vs Benoit
No you don't agree with what I said? I think there should have been a rematch with Hogain and Goldberg. That would have given WCW more money in trems a pay per view pay rates. As far as Benoit of all the young guy's comming up in WCW at the time. Him and Y2J should have been on the one Goldberg should have had matches with.
@KirbbDogg Goldberg was a backstage crybaby and did not want to do business the PROPER way. So WCW cowered and allowed him to tear up the place. Everybody wonders why he got buried in WWE? Simple. Vince does not put up with that shit. Goldberg gave Vince his word that he was a team player. It was apparent when he got there that he was anything but. Solution? Bury the overrated douche. Goldberg would never deserve to have the torch passed although he has torched a lot of bridges for himself.
I know all about Goldberg not being a team player. I've seen his match with Triple H. Those matches were as real as any wrestling match can be. As far as Hogan go's he could have used his creative contol clouse in his contract to get a win oner Goldberg, And that would have been that. As far as Benoit that was just a dream match for me anyway. Think about it. if Benoit could get a good match out of Sid. Think about what he could have done with Goidberg.
@KirbbDogg See again, I have to disagree. Benoit got a good match out of Sid because even though Sid was stiff all the time, he at least TRIED to sell certain moves and what not. Goldberg truly believed that the best thing for his character was to be invincible. As it turns out, as we all know, he was wrong about that. His pig headedness would have caused a match between him & Benoit to be nothing but a disaster.
@TheMusicman1971 ....that is what the best thing about Goldbergs character was...that he was invincible....it was electric and for a time the best thing going....but it's also an idea that had a limited time to be succesful, because at some point it gets boring. Goldberg should have come in...done his thing and then gone off in to the sunset undefeated and an enigma.
You can see the difference between the WWE fns and the WCW fans. WCW fans and audience are totally unprofessional. Throwing stuff in the ring in every event. This makes viewers on tv feels WCW is totally classless. That's why it failed.
imagine if undertakers the one who returns on 21/2/11 and clears the ring of a match he interupts... everyone thinks the promo was for him... and then suddenly sting drops from the rafters like that into the ring, pointing his bat at undertaker, and then at the wrestlemania sign in the arena! wud be epic... if unrealistic lol.
@mww0614 I wanted to see savage come back at this time and wrestle, he wrestled a few times after this but I don't know how things worked with the booking for him. He was big, but you never saw Goldberg vs Savage. It was Gberg vs all the other major wrestlers except Luger and Savage
Man, I remember everyone shitting on WCW at this time. But, this match was really good. But, at least today we have... Ummm... The Miz? I guees WCW 1999 wasn't really that bad. lol
@rkoduke3d By March 99, they were already in a talespin they'd never get out of. Nash, Hogan & Bischoff killed the thing, all Russo did was bury the body.
Sting is such a great Wrestler ... The black and white SILENT Turn was such a good move.. If only Vince wouldnt have gotten so greedy....... WcW had a better show by far
@moose030406 Naw he didn't wcw in the 99 drove they selves into the grave. Goldberg actually is one of the wrestlers who made people watch WCW during this time.
WWE PUTTING ALL THE OLD NITROS OUT ON DVD YEAH RIGHT AND EVEN IF THEY DID THEY WOULD ONLY HAVE JERICHO,MELENKO AND MYSTERIO CAUSE WWE EDITS WHAT IT WANTS TO PUT IN. PLUS THEY WOULD JUST DESTROY IT LIKE DDP'S CHARACTER
WWE will never....everr...everrr compare to the 90's WWF with austin, the rock, old skool DK, legion of doom, the nation, mankind, the undertaker....those men made WWE.....im glad i was there in its prime cuz todays shit fuckin blows hard !
it WONT happen!!!! a documentary i saw says that mcmahon could not stand storylines that HE DID NOT CREATE!!! he was getting his ass kicked at this time,,,he wont admit it,,,and we will never see these episodes except on youtube!!! and notice how few people watch wrestling now that he owns all rights!! the documentary also says vince taking over wrestling is a part of what made nascar grow,,,,meaning they left for other entertainment because his product is lame!
The ending made no sense at all, why would nash stop goldberg from becoming the world champ when he was facing goldberg at the next pay per view! Didnt big kev want a title shot lol?
HAHA Nash screwed up bigtime he shudda been in earlier hogan kicked outta the jack hammer which is bollocks hogan sucks he shuda quit years ago now his in tna ruinin stings character there aswell
I saw a live non-canon incarnation of this very match when I was 9. It was the awesomest extremest thing I ever saw. Sting won, btw. Not sure if that was what actually happened in the PPV version of the match.
Who liked WCW ? .... i mean really? losers

macho man is the best ever. Best wrestler, best talker, just the best. Wish he would come back
mww0614 1 year ago
@mww0614 I wanted to see savage come back at this time and wrestle, he wrestled a few times after this but I don't know how things worked with the booking for him. He was big, but you never saw Goldberg vs Savage. It was Gberg vs all the other major wrestlers except Luger and Savage

Man, I remember everyone shitting on WCW at this time. But, this match was really good. But, at least today we have... Ummm... The Miz? I guees WCW 1999 wasn't really that bad. lol

So, was Hogan still a heel here or was he back to being a good guy at this point? And when exactly did he go back to the red and yellow?

Even when WCW wasnt at the top it still gave fans REAL MAIN EVENT MATCHES ON MONDAY NIGHT. Try and find that on WWE.
ROosthakid 1 year ago
beginning of 99 WCW wasn't in to bad of shape, I would ti didnt start to get really bad until mid to late 99 when Russo came in the picture.
rkoduke3d 1 year ago 15
@rkoduke3d By March 99, they were already in a talespin they'd never get out of. Nash, Hogan & Bischoff killed the thing, all Russo did was bury the body.

Hogan doing an inside cradle? MOVESET.
Well, he actually could do more than he did, so could Goldberg, but they were effective without needing to.

So what sense did that make nash attacking goldberg? didnt he want goldberg to win and become champ so he could get a title shot?
TRIGMASTER06 1 year ago
Why didn't they all beat the crao out of gold berg? Gold berg ruined the wcw.
moose030406 1 year ago
@moose030406 Naw he didn't wcw in the 99 drove they selves into the grave. Goldberg actually is one of the wrestlers who made people watch WCW during this time.
wirelessjt 1 year ago
@moose030406 are you on crack? Goldberg was one of the greatest reasons that the ratings grew, along with Booker T, DDP, Sting, and others

WWE PUTTING ALL THE OLD NITROS OUT ON DVD YEAH RIGHT AND EVEN IF THEY DID THEY WOULD ONLY HAVE JERICHO,MELENKO AND MYSTERIO CAUSE WWE EDITS WHAT IT WANTS TO PUT IN. PLUS THEY WOULD JUST DESTROY IT LIKE DDP'S CHARACTER

it WONT happen!!!! a documentary i saw says that mcmahon could not stand storylines that HE DID NOT CREATE!!! he was getting his ass kicked at this time,,,he wont admit it,,,and we will never see these episodes except on youtube!!! and notice how few people watch wrestling now that he owns all rights!! the documentary also says vince taking over wrestling is a part of what made nascar grow,,,,meaning they left for other entertainment because his product is lame!

@HipnosisV1Games That's because Nash was supposed to run in but he was late. That's why the commentators didn't really play it up.

The ending made no sense at all, why would nash stop goldberg from becoming the world champ when he was facing goldberg at the next pay per view! Didnt big kev want a title shot lol?
