Found this old post of yours and I admire your candor. I was homeless myself, and our stories are quite similar. Some of the things I experienced left scars that still haven't healed and its been five years. Good to see you doing what it takes to move forward. You helping others seems to be helping you; I think I just might follow that mantra myself. Peace and blessings...
Independent Christians are often viewed by churches as incapable of rising to the challenge of successful outreach. I agree with you that churches are often condescending - it is through individuals like you that Jesus might reach them and make them question their attitudes. I want to encourage you - if you need it - to remain faithful to Jesus, so that he will continue to grant you success.
You make a variety of good points: one specifically in terms of mind conditioning. I have been in my apartment for 3 years and although I have not experienced homelessness, I have had eviction papers filed so many times that I have not even decorated! I get scared because I begin to think -- this month is going to be the month my son and I will be out. SMH I need to think better! Thank you for your positive contribution to our world!
I know Birdman! Are you talking about the guy that sits on the 101 ramp in Echo Park? I was an intern at The Dream Center for two years, I know completely understand your frustration.
Wow! This is a powerful experience you gave us. I know it must have been extremely hard to deal with. This has truly touched my heart. You are definitely right about others looking down on the homeless. Its sad how others get treated, especially when people don't even know the story.
Homelessness is happening at an alarming rate to everyday people through no fault of their own. I'm here by way of TiffanniRhea and I'm glad she shared your page with us. Nobody should ever have to homeless and something has to be done somehow. People would rather make excuses than to except that there is a problem with this system. Nobody should ever be homeless, ever.
Your one of the few people who talk about and try to help the homeless that I understand and agree with. Many shelters etc. do "try to put religion down peoples throats" before feeding them or giving them a place to stay for the night. The worst thing is these types of "do gooders" are the only ones out there who are offering services. So regardless of their motives I do say at least somebody is trying. Its more than anyone else is doing.
@TiffanniRhea Each time I think of all the things i had to go through, all the fist fights, nights in the rain, recovering from chemo while on the streets. Then I think of all the people who are not as strong as me, dont have the same faith or sheer will to survive and each time I break down and cry because I am thinking what happens to them? Thank you so much for watching and for being such a huge inspiration to me.
Kengi - this should be an interesting and an eye-opening experience ......also so many people don't realize they are just one or two paychecks away from being homeless ................ I especially like the statement ....that you proudly say you are Christian but not from a church.....respect!
I'm really starting to wonder within myself why videos as powerful as this DON'T go viral on YT as opposed to the nonsense that DOES! This is a "powerful" video!! Thanks & I look forward to the series. In addition, please hug dodger for making me smile at the begining of this video he was certainly trying to get comfy spot...lol
@nothingsimpossible77 LOL, people may act as if they care, but in reality they truly do not. Most are only interested in drama and gossip. Now if I place a video about dick, ass, fucking, celebrity gossip or slamming someone then it will go viral. Poeple dont like to talk about or be reminded of what is really going on in the world. This is very sad. Thanks for the comments and thanks for watching
@Kengikat This is true & oh so SAD isn't it? I just don't get it smh! BTW: I tweeted the living quilt channel & will continue to do so on a regular basis! Are you on twitter? I am so encouraged to support your efforts, even more so bcuz you have been thru most of what you're passionate about. It makes a WORLD of difference to the folks you encounter bcuz there's a sincere CONNECTION betwen them & you!! Have a GREAT DAY!
This is definitely going to be an eye-opening experience...I am not and have not been homeless in the sense of being on the streets but when you don't have a place to call your own, it kinda feels that way, like it can be taken away at anytime, especially in government or low income housing...
the usa sucks because they help every other nation but there own.

Excellent conversation about homelessness! I totally can relate!
And look at the dog in the background! It took him a while to get comfortable. So sweet!
