my hair thins in the same area i use ol skool sulfur 8 i use it on a reg rub it on my edges a few times a week.... hope this helps that dr. miracles did not work for me
I dont have locks but I have long hair and wear ponytails alot. I cant str8ten my hair in the summer because the humidity makes it so frizzy.. So i wear ponytails y hair is naturally curly. Im going to try the cream you bought because my hair line thining as well. We'll see!
I wouldn't put a bunch of products... also.. try not to wear bandanas ect.. to long or tightly to your head.. hair needs air to grow.. ps.. are you takin pre-natals after???
Hey Ms. Butterfli, I definetely went through the same thing and me like and idiot I kept tiend my hair back but it was the only thing I could do to cover the balding spots. I can only remember not twisitng my hair so much like you said and making sure to grease my scalp. I needed you help....come to think about it.
Try using 1 part castor oil and 1 part white iodine on those weak areas. After having a baby, your system is going through some changes. This is what I use and it works. But, wear a cap when you do, you can leave it in all night and shampoo it out the next day. And keep using products with castor oil in it.
did you just stop using the pre-natal pills? that could be it. your body would be getting less vitamins and minerals and you hair loss is due to that. also, when ur pregnant, you have more blood pumping through ur body, and that results in more hair and nail growth. now that your blood volume is decreasing, your hair will start to thin as your body adjusts. trim them down to shoulder length and massage your edges for a few minutes in the morning and at night. hth!
I have an 8 mo and the same thing happened to my hairline. I had long locs too, I cut them shorter (above shoulders) so I could wear it down more, it's growing back now!!! Hang in there!
I lost my edges 3 to 4 months after my daughter was born....this was april of this year....I was freaking out because I had micros and braids were just falling out...that was the start of my decision to stay natural...if my hair was already breaking no need to add chemicals right...My edges have grown back and I haven't done anything extraordinary or used a special product... just normal care. I hope this helps...it will be ok.
are you bc? the bc that i'm on has my hair falling out as well. its called micronor and its a breastfeeding safe pill. i'll have to do something with my hair.
Girl, I would be thinking the same thing if my locs were thinning out. I would try the dr miracles for a while but you know hair..it grows back when it wants to. Good luck with it..
oh ms b its not that bad. that dr mircles actually works.. my fiance uses it he is going thin on the top of his head and it is growing back in... he is using the same exact product as you. it has been a great help. but dont cut them they are still beautiful. dont stress. it will come back you shouldnt have to cut them all off
The same thing happened to me after I had my 2nd child. I lost hair around my hairline and in other areas. Guess what I did...cut my locs. I regretted it. I'm now on my 2nd set of locs and pregnant with my 3rd baby. If I run into the same issue, I'm going to try and push through it.
It's the hormones as you said that is why your hair is thinning, so I would suggest you put a thin layer of Castor Oil on your hair line prior to sleeping and in less than a 2 weeks you will see a difference. Dr. miracles does work but Castor oil works faster and is more natural.
Best of luck on your hair journey and congrats on Dez's 3 1/2 month B-day. Thanks for sharing.
I went through the same thing. I don't have locs but my hair was thinning. Are you still taking your vitamins since you're breastfeeding? That's very important bcuz u need to make sure you're taking in enuff vitamins & nutrients for u and your lil tink tink :) Just keep it oiled and massage those thinning areas a few times a day. I know you're frustrated but don't do anything drastic... just give it some time for your hormones to get back in tune.
The same thing happened to me. I still twisted my hair like normal. Looking back I would not have done that knowing what I know. Just let it rest and don't twist it for nothing in the world and take care of it and pay attention to it. It is not from twisting it is from the epidural my sister does not have locs and the same thing happened to her. Time is what you need.
I am having the same prob. as you are... I have a 5 month old and in the past month or 2 I have thinned badly (almost bald) in the same spots as you have. I am relaxed but I have never had problems in that area. It got really bad fast, so I figured it was birth control pills I started taking after having him, my body has been all over the place since. Im using NuGro and Jamaican Black Castor Oil and am starting to see an improvement slowly but its growing now
I don't have locks but I do have natural hair and I've always had a problem with my edges and the middle of my head thining. For me, Castor oil helps. If you can get it, Jamaican Black Castor Oil is better. It helps to thicken your hair.
I just picked up some at this place called Nicholas {something} in Harlem on 125th St. near the Metro North train station. But it was like $6 for a 4 ounce bottle.
PLEASE DONT CUT THEM!My DR told me that it would go back to norm after abt 6-12 mos. You'll have a baby fro on your edges when your new growth comes in.I dont think products can trump what your hormones are doing. But, I used jamaican black castor oil, rosemary oil,and pure aloe to help the new growth grow faster. you may have to start newbies or combine the new growth in your dreads on the edge which may have weaker bases after this process.
It's the decreased in hormones from having your baby. Most women experience it, they overload with progesterone in the 3rd trimester and then when you deliver all your nutrients and hormones are pulled with the baby. Like someone said it's only temporary. I don't have locs but i would said don't twist them as often for a few months maybe go a little longer than you usually do so that the twisted part isn't essentially coming out making it thinner. idk good luck!!
try to accept it ! i know it is harsh! but it is only tru and maybe you wonna hear something els but i am sorry it take on every pregnet woman and ther is diffrent issus after the pregnecy ... but try to trimm to shorter to let the weight down from the scalp =) lots of hugs !
Being a mother of 3- I have to say that it s mostly hormonal- Just give that area a break from friction & tension & see if you start to notice improvement.. Your body is still adjusting from being pregnant & trying to get back to its non-pregnant state- continue to take your prenatal vitimins too (if you stopped). Hang in there- your locs are so beautiful & your vids inspire me to hang in there as I am only 2 months into my journey. Be patient.
The same thing happened to my sis. Her hair started thinning after she had my nephew but, it's temporary. Try not to stress out too much, your edges will come back in.
i had my son, I didn't have locs then though , I had had relaxed hair, but I used some products for temple thinning, and it grew back. I second the castor oil and rosemary suggestions too.
I agree with HOOSIE6 use teh Castor oil....I don't have loc sorry....but check out Ssawnta715, her video are great..but i check out her blog lately and I saw she come out her loc's...... It may be a lot but i think that a good option..
Also, nubian heritage also sell castor oil..and it work very well (that if you can't get the Jamaican black castor oil). I paid $6.00 bucks for a bottle.
Do not worry. Thinnig post-pregnancy is normal whether you have locs or not. Your hair is most likely thinning due to the breastfeeding; so your hair will return. As a breastfeeding coordinator, I suggest that you continue to massage your temples and refrain from retwisting the hairline for a month or two. Your locs are beautiful, so try not to worry.
This might sound crazy but Castor oil works wonder on thinning hair! Especially on edges. I would reccomend either Home health brand castor oil (vitamin shoppe, whole foods) or Jamaican black Castor oil sams247 . com. Just apply it to your edges atleast 2-3 times a week. You can even use it daily if you want! Another natural remedy is using cayenne pepper. You can use store bought cayenne peppers (dried) mix it with hot water to make a paste. apply it to your edges and let it sit for 20-60 mins
Then wash it out. Both are great. I would suggest researching the two then making your choice. if i had to pick one i would say castor oil. I tried dr. miracles before and it did nothing for my hair. since usinc castor oil my hair has thicked up nicely! I hope i helped!

Hang in there, give it a couple months b4 you cut them, your hair might start growing back. Even if you cut them it's gonna thin regardless right?
