  • cool vid dude..

can you upload a problem of 4X4 ,5X5 or 6X6..??

    it's a bit simple if its just 2X2 or 3X3 ...

  • yeah im in 8th rade taking algebra 2... i guess im kind of a smart ass cause no one else is taking it in my entire middle school, but i only get 2 classes per week as apposed to other who have 6 per week... I'm actually keeping ahead of other math classes, cause i do a lot at home... I just wanted to say THANKS cause these online vids are so much more helpful than the textbook...

  • PLEASE BECOME MY ALGEBRA 2 TEACHER

  • ty so much this helped a lot! Im in advanced algebra 2 at my school and my teacher sucks! now she's teaching us to encode and decode messages - -

  • sir ! at the last where u left it means completed but it can also be simplifi further...,

  • but the commutative property doesn't work for matrices, a 2X1 matrix cant be multiplied by a 2X2 because the columns in teh first dont match the rows in the second. UGGGHHHH IM CONFUSED

  • @zyzxx1019 yep, that is correct

  • thanks! your lessons are so much better than my classrooms. Being the only freshman in an honors algebra II class kinda sucks! (:

  • @Daliamaya3211 happy that i can help you : )

  • GREAT HELP!

  • I am so grateful, God, thank you for this wonderful gift you've sent to us!

  • I am going to ask my mom's permission to donate to your website (; YOU ARE SUPER HELPFUL! This is my first year in university. I NEED YOU, PATRICK!

  • @starlovecross thanks : ) does she have $1,000,000 to spare ? : )

  • I think im just going to learn from youtube teachers becuase my ALG2 teacher goes way too fast

  • @ripflick come back whenever you need some help : ) hopefully i can point you in the right direction

  • Why are YOUTUBE TEACHERS ALWAYS BETTER then our in class teachers ?

  • when you got 11 does it always have to be 11 or can it be any number?

  • ok, i saw a video about 3 x3, so ignore my question. Thanks again for the video .

  • Hi, I have a question, if I have a matrices with 3 x 3 or 4 x4 , how would I be able to use the inverse formula 1/ ad - bc. Since ad and bc are used for 2 x 2 matrices.

  • Oh my goodness. You're a life saver, dude. Props.

  • thks man because of you i think i'm going to pass the class keep up the god work

  • great, straight forward and simple. better than the text book for sure.

  • Patrick, you need to lose some weight.

  • Also, as a hint to others who are taking math: while memorizing equations, rules, and laws is important, of even greater usefulness is learning the logic of math. Nothing is done arbitrarily. If you can create sound reasoning and deductive skills, then solving any problem becomes a lot simpler. Even better is combing memorization with logic.

  • I skipped 4 classes in a row because my math teacher blows. His entire teaching set up is terrible and he spends half the class ridiculing the students because they don't know how to do something he has yet to teach.

Keep it up Pat. I passed my 1050 final with your help.

  • I'm confused I thought to find the inverse you would make an augmented matrix by having A plus the Identity matrix then try to switch their positions?

    3 5 1 0 1 0 x y

    1 2 0 1 = 0 1 z w xyzw would be the inverse

  • how i earch on YouTube :

    matrices simultaneous linear equation patrickJMT

    lolz :D

  • I wouldn't know patrickJMT if it is not because of my math teacher is sucks

  • Comment removed

  • thank you

  • how i do solve this equation using matrices?

    2x-y+3z=4

    3x+y-z=6

    thank you so much!

  • you've saved my life (figuratively of course). I hated solving by elimination so as a last resort I turned to YouTube. THANK YOU!

  • @chadillac02 tons of videos, so come back any time

  • Why can't you work at our school? You could be the teacher of tons of poor little high school children who aren't learning math right cause our teachers suck :(

  • @CatClaws27 they'd hate/ignore me too

  • @patrickJMT I wouldn't!!!

  • @patrickJMT you make math easy, anyone that wants to succeed at math or meet requirements would definitely listen to you- the proof is that users look for you as a teacher.

  • i hate adssssssssssss

  • @lilaminakari but i bet you like free stuff. if so, do not whine and cry about them.

  • @patrickJMT lol yh true, i love free stuff and awsome people like u :), ill whine secretly i wont whine in the comments, i promise :D

  • @lilaminakari ha : ) i hate ads to when i watch videos, but it usually means the person who is making them is getting a little reward for all their hard work

  • @patrickJMT if ur getting a reward ill happily watch them :D

  • @lilaminakari well, it is how i make a small paycheck every month. let me know if you see an ad in the middle though! i am trying to make sure there are none of those - they annoy me too!

  • [fx1] = ((A*E)/L)*[ 1 , -1 ] [u1]

     fx2 -1 , 1 u2

second line is rest of matrix vertically, my question is what is the fx1 , fx2 equations not in matrix form. and how to transpose a matrix and what that do to the values inside in respect to original equations? please answer ASAP i have exam 24 dec, i.e equations from plasticity & metal forming

  • OH MY GOD! I finally get this after my teacher refused to show me the steps (for the tenth time) She obviously didn't explain it in a way I could comprehend. I'm taking a midterm tomorrow, and I'm saved! THANK YOU!!! Your method is so much simpler! My teacher told me to multiply the actual inverse (A-1) times the determinant and then multiply by the solution matrix. Thank God I found this in time.

  • dude. you spelled "finding" wrong...

  • Your videos always help me very much. Thanks

  • Do you have any videos on how to calculate an eigen vector/ value? :/

  • lol advertisement = mute button + bong hit time

  • @enrichedd that's the spirit

  • @enrichedd taking bong hits to a matrices video, thats one way to spice maths up i guess :P

  • this helps alot!

  • Patrick JMT could eliminate all math professors just put up his video lectures in class, btw my math prof's don't know how to teach, although they know the material, Patrick can teach and he know's the material, thats why he's the best!!

  • thanks man keep!!

  • thanks a lot :)

  • Could you get a video w/ 3 equations?

  • @xxNELLABOYZxx ok, i am uploading one in just a few minutes

  • im so confused right now. I just tried what you did but i didnt get anything close to the solution i got using the other methods. I have to do it this way for my project though too. What to do :(

  • dude, you rule!!!! i have a test about exactly that stuff tmmrw and i was missing from classes all week so you probably saved my grade!!! thanx mate

  • Hehehe , this look so easy ....

  • Patrick, when you are videoing your lesson, is the web camera over your shoulder or are you using a regular video recorder?

    Thanks,

    Bill Brown

  • @peter15071 A negitive time a positive is a negitive...4 times -5 is -20 plus 2 equals -18. The placeing a negivitive over a negivitive gives you a postive...so -18/-11= 18/11 so he was right. It's 18 because he took the faction out. (excuse the spell but math is my thing)

  • would you suggest a beer before my test? It's definatly tempting!

  • I dislike maths actually but it is mandatory with out maths there is no education ?I was confusing before about matrices now after i visit your tutorial i got my relief thanks so much for u help me

  • left handed...like me :D Your a good teacher, thanks!

  • thanks

  • This was an excellent video. I saw the initial equations, worked them out myself (as I am just learning Finite Math) and then watched. We did things a little different but I got the same answer! ;)

  • @peter15071 i dunno.. it is probably wrong.

i probably had a beer before i thought it was a good idea to make it

  • Thank you so much! I have my final tomorrow morning and completely forgot how to solve systems of equations using inverse matricies. Thank you, your video was very helpful and simple for me to follow!

  • i love all your videos, you teach it so simply and not complex. thank you so much :)

  • hey greywolf424, you are like a child resorting to playground tactics. I've read your bullshit on the internet, and you a fucking mad ranter who should go and get yourself an education. I would love to meet you in a boxing ring or kickboxing ring where I could prove you to be wimp and cry baby ; i would enjoy smashing your ugly face !

  • wait! how come you dint use the negative eleven when multiplying the second equation

  • Doing an assignment for this for an advanced math course. Really clarified some things that our notes didn't! Thank you kindly.

  • Wow you rock!

  • Really Helpful, tanx

  • I thought the answer to a 2x2 matrix times a 1x2 matrix is a 2x2 matrix. Someone please explain....

  • Thank u so much for this video!!! I was dead tired during this math lesson today, and missed a lot of the concepts. I get it now though/

  • Thanks alot dude.

  • I hate algebra 2, most of all i hate matrices, very very confusing with the inverse and crap....but ya after i watched this, clear as day.......thnx man this helped ALOT

  • happy it helped.

hang in there! you will be fine

  • i m french, and what is good in american people YOU are open minded, in french they are not this kind of video. soo thanks TEACHER. Now i have understand

  • Thanks! Now I finally understand this :)

  • awesome, thank you !

  • thanks alot patrick, kep up the good work, utube should give u an award. but can u upload a vid where the system is a 3x3 or bigger. PLEASE

    JAMGTI- JAMAICA

  • Thanks a lot patrick! I had a take-home test, but the text book didn't explain it clearly and so, being able to find your vlog helped me out a whole lot! Keep it up!

  • queers....

  • love your voice~thanks for the video it's really helpful

  • that the same as what my teacher teach me... btw matrices are not so had i just hate circle.... -.-

  • Hats off mate.

  • @ stock can you give me the link thnks :) can't find it

  • Hey patrick sir can you give examples of how to solve inverse of 3x3 matrix.

  • its on already mate, check it out.

  • I found your method much better than using an augmented ([A|I]) matrix. Thank you! :)

  • this is awesome, i use your videos for everything in math haha thanks!

  • Thanks a lot man this helped so much with my summer math packet. :)

  • thanks man, helped alot

do you have any videos of 3x3 matrix

    e.g.

    3x + y = 5

    5x + 2y - z = 10

    x + 4y - 2z = 11

    anything with that layout?

  • What's FINGING? Did u mean finding

  • holy shite - no one has pointed that out - and to think: i won the spelling bee in my school at one point in my life

  • thanks very much as well : )

  • That was truly helpful. I needed help urgently, and I'm glad I found this video. Thank you so much!

  • this was real helpful!...thank you so much

  • God bless you...up till now i couldnt understand this, but explin make it clear to me and easy to understand

  • Comment removed

  • thx alot! ^______^

  • I still love you, you sexy mathbeast

  • nice : )

  • you're a life saver man! i've got an exam on this tomorrow at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand. You don't get paid nearly enough to do this! i.e $0<<enough

  • yep, i agree with that last statement

  • wow man thanks!

  • Thank you sooooooooooo much. This helped me a great deal!!!!

    Thanks again

  • Comment removed

  • and i wish people would not post stupid comments... but that will not happen any time soon

  • My comment was supposed to be a lighthearted observation. That's all.

  • mine too

  • OMG Dude I am in Algebra 2 right now! Your videos help me so much man, I love them! Do a video on solving a system of equations with determinants (only) next! =] I have a quiz on that this Monday!

  • wait.. isn't there a mistake, when he took the (1/11) back out, why didn't he make it (-1/11)?

  • whoah, never mind, I didn't pay attention

  • This is good. What you thinkg about using Gaussian-Jordan technique to resolve linear systems? It just seems to be better I think.

  • yea Patrick can you do an example like that?

  • i already have an example where i row reduce, ie use gauss jordan

  • great found it

  • Oh, very nice. Thanks!

  • he basically did in the 1st part of this video although did not call it as such. Many times going all the way to to reduced row echelon form is alot more work than is necessary to solve a system of linear equations. Imagine trying to do it on 6x6 matrix, it gets time consuming.

  • THAnk you very much that helped A LOT!!!!!!

  • Thank you for this, I missed these matrices lectures in my pre-cal class last week.

  • Excellent video as usual. Now if only there were some subsets, null spaces, column spaces, row spaces, spanning set and other types of spaces, lol.

Keep up the good work Patrick.

  • Thank you

    i have algebraII

    and now i know

    how to get

    x=___ y=___

  • OMG. this helped me so much. i couldn't get the hang of it. THANKYOU

  • thanks!! you saved my life =)

  • Hey Patrick. Excellent video yet again.

I was wondering if you could do some 3x3 and 4x4 matrix determinants and inverses.

    Thanks again kind sir.

  • 4x4 determinants are horrible, a lot of work, it's easier to use Ax=Iy (I being an identitymatrix) and then solve A|I to I|Ainverse. It saves a lot of time, it's also possible on 2x2 matrices. so unless you want the determinant, go for Identity-solving.

  • Thanks a bunch. I am studying for a Calc III test Monday and sometimes all you need is a concrete example of a problem solved step by step. Extremely helpful.

  • Wish this was up when I took Pre-Calculus last year. Nice lesson, though:D Pretty clear and at a nice pace.

  • yes, i did not start posting til about march of this year.... better late than never i guess! : )

  • Patric thank you very much!! that helped me a lot! especially the equation when you said that basically you multiply only the right side for the inverse.. that helped me a lot! because i remmember doing it in class, but i kinda foregot a little bit.. and i am having an exam soon, so i will use what u've told in the video! thanks, that helped a lot!

  • i had a theory that you could do that now i know that it works

  • yes, it is a good technique to use!

  • thanks! normally i have the hand writing of a first grader, but i try to make this stuff legible!!
