  • PS I am weak in the area of filing... any great ideas?

  • Amy, my hubby and I have been budgeting very similar to this for 32 years. We got off the right foot with the meal planning and family budget. It works wonders. We have a category for numerous things- Christmas, other holidays, ( cuz I LUV them and always do parties) and we budget for the dog, and car maintenance etc. etc. It is really the only way to go. I did the same as you... stuck all my work $ into savings so we could learn to live off from one income from day 1. Thanks for sharing!

  • please make a video on excell form if u can

  • lol we do the excel thing too! i dont understand it at all but hubby does, and as long as one of us does thats fine with me :)

  • Neil and I use an excel spreadsheet to budget our money as well. We currently do not add up all receipts but Neil recently went to a First Time Homebuyers class and they suggested we start doing that so we've been collecting a small pile of receipts. I have to admit though that Neil's excel form is WAY over my head LOL he's tried explaining it to me several times and I always zone out lol Same thing when he tried to explain our stocks. lol I'm just lost lost lost lol

  • do you guys use credit cards at all? or just cash for everything

  • We also have an excel form we use for budgeting!!

  • I love how responsible you guys are!! More people need to be this way :)

  • i love this!! great i dea!! i would love it if you could possible tell me the categories if you ever get a free moment on FB. if not i totally understand!! we need to start doing something!!

  • So that's how we budget too but unfortunatly we aren't always dilligant with it...

  • Fantastic! Would love to see a video on the Excel form. After 12 years of living willy nilly and now being a mostly SAHM, we're finally budgeting. Tips and tricks and ideas from others have helped so much. Thanks for doing the video. Think I might steal your sheet :)

  • how did you make the excel form?

  • YES, do a video on how you made the excel form! LOVE this video!

  • I need an excel form like that- really cool!

  • Grea tips! So many people live at or above their means and that's how they get in trouble. My theory is live comfortably below your means so we can have fun when we retire. =)

  • We do the exact same thing by excel spreadsheet. We keep the receipts until it's entered into the spreadsheet, or review our online statements to enter totals paid for by credit cards. I think having to write down EVERYTHING you spend makes you realize where your money's going... :) You might not get everything you want, but it's good to be debt free at the end of the day.

  • Great vid! What programme do you use to edit your videos? I love your intros.. they are always so nice.

  • I think this is great, and I would love to see the video on making the spreadsheet. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • what a neat idea : )

  • so so useful!

  • I found another helpful thing is an automatic savings account. If you have it available from your bank you should check it out. You can choose the amount taken out of your account. We chose $1 taken out of our checking account daily. So at the end of the month we have $28-$31 saved and we didn't even miss it. Small things like that add up. :) Good video. Love those excel sheets.

  • can you please do a video showing the excel form..PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! You guys do an amazing budgeting job!!

  • great video!

  • this is great advice, but i dont belive id be able to pull it off i have a hard time keeping with things but i should really really try.

  • I amnot discipline at all. i wish i could be. i have dept from college and credit cards. I want to get out of dept but I don't know how.Do you have any suggestions.

  • Does the excel form have the total expenses for each category or just total expenses period? Love your nails! I would love a list of the categories in the bottom bar or in a personal message :)

  • Wow I'm jealous of your self discipline! I started an excel like that years ago, but I think I stopped because I didn't like the reality of where all my money was going, lol. I need to start doing this again though :D

  • Like the blue nailpolish ;)

  • Amazing ideas for budgeting!! Tim loves making those excel spread sheets.. he has our budget like that on his computer but we need to do the paper thing and write down everything we spend!

  • that's a good idea... i would have to really discipline myself! i'm soooo not organized haha

  • Very very helpful! If only I could get Dave to save all of his receipts and go along with it haha. He whips the plastic out without even thinking twice.

  • very helpful!!! I will be living on my own soon...well just me and my son who is 1, and this is very helpful!! :) Thank you!

  • Great advice! We use cash only so when we get paid we take it out and use cash! I find we spend less if we only bring 70$ to the store rather then unlimited from our plastic cards! I also use a ton of coupons and use the savvycent wallet (which I'm doing a review & giveaway for in a few days) which really helps because in the back of the wallet there are slots to put money for separate categories or coupons for separate categories! I love saving money!!

  • HAve you guys ever heard of Dave Ramsey? My husband and I are taking the Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University class. Its really awesome..

  • i need advice on filing.

how do you file your bills and papers?

  • very helpful...i really need to do this too!

  • Awesome video!!! I really need to start doing that!!!
