Thanks for this vid! I was concerned about renting it as told the boot was very small but based on your vid I think it will be fine and well worth it to drive around in the convertible mustang. Now my problem is finding a company that will guarantee the mustang, at the moment most companys state or similar so will just be pot luck when we turn up. Where did you rent yours from? Thanks!
@BenvindaPR We were in the same predicament - really wanting a Mustang and not wanting to receive a substitute such as the Chrysler Sebring. All companies (that I know of) only guarantee "or similar". However, we did find a website at the time which was a discount site, not a direct company. They had a search tool allowing us to state where we were, and we worked out from a process of elimination that Alamo Four Corners Sheraton Towers only had Mustangs, not Sebrings.
@travislms Oops! Sheraton Four POINTS, not Four CORNERS. Sorry about that. Obviously still not a guarantee but a better chance than a site which offered both.
I'd post a link to the site but YouTube blocks links in comments so you'll find that specific branch office through a web search. Note that it was March 2010 when my findings applied. Things may have changed since then. I can't recall the discounter site right now but if I trawl old emails and figure it out, I'll post here.
@travislms Found the old emails - we used RhinoCarHire as the discounter. It worked out to be 30% cheaper than booking directly through Alamo too, so it not only found the exact car we wanted, it also found it cheaper. Always a good outcome! :-)
Probably the first time I've ever commented on a YouTube video. Just to say thanks for posting this, very informative. And thanks for following up on people's questions, very helpful!
I have a question. We're thinking of hiring a Ford Mustang in September. There is 4 of us and our girls (who are teenagers) really want to travel around Hawaii in a convertible. If we take 4 small bags and put 2 in the trunk, do you think there will be enough room in the back of the car for the girls and their bags? I know it sounds exreme but i figured if we can do it, they will only have to be crammed in the back until we get to the hotel where we can dump our stuff. Thanks
@777petal I must admit we only got in the back seat briefly to check it out, and didn't try putting bags in there with us but I think it would rather tight. It would probably work if (1) people in the front seat didn't have the seat all the way back, and (2) it was only a short trip. I would certainly not want to travel any long distances nursing their luggage but from the airport to hotel would be an acceptable trade-off for the awesomeness of having a convertible for the rest of the trip.
I plan to rent the same type of car in LA or in SanFran.
Stupid question follows: After putting all those bags inside the trunk, were you able to open the roof, or this is not possible, since the trunk is full?
@MrOMLAS The roof folds into a reserved space, so the trunk is not used to store any part of it. Anything you can get into the trunk is locked away safely, and the roof can be put up/down at will with no impact on the storage space.
@cyant Haha! I didn't need them on the trip but I certainly did some shopping! Shoes are a lot cheaper in the USA than back here in Australia, so those shoes in boxes were brand new since they were expensive, but relatively speaking, a bargain. Even with the Aussie dollar being weaker than the US dollar at the time, they were $175/pair AUD in Florida vs $345/pair in Australia.
@ puddlewars - there will be ample room on the backseat for a case that size if, as you say, worst case scenario happens. We hired ours through Alamo in Orlando and drove down to Key West, hence the ghastly shirt.
@ puddlewars - stupi iPhone put the delete keynext to post key... When getting the cases in and out you need a little mire space to get them inthe angle required so it could be a struggle to get them in and out even though they fit when in. Whether this struggle is just a few more seconds work or a physical impossibility, I can't say. Sorry.
@travislms thx for the reply - only one way to find out I suppose - worse case scenario is that I put one case on the back seat as there is only two of us.... looking to hire this type of car through Hertz in San Fran. Where did you hire yours from? thx again.
@ puddlewars - it would be very tight with the extra length. They would *probably* fit easily when flat and in the trunk but you may have some challenge getting them in and out because then
Hey man, do you have some pics or more movies? I retend this car with budget rent a car and I dont pick-up yet. I want to know more about the car i rented.

Do you think there would be enough room for 2 suitcases at 47cm wide x 27cm deep x 70cm long (extra 5cm longer than what you had)? thx
