2: the amount of FPS you can actually see depends on your monitor refresh rate

3: I don't think that even when you have the refresh rate you would see a difference between 100 and 240 0.o

unless ur making slow motion shots there is no reason to have anything above 30 personally i dont see video start to get choppy until about 12 fps

now.. I'll give all you "nah' sayers this. probably any framerate beyond 240 is overkill. I'm not a freaking 40 year experience eye doctor with any super high technological 10 million dollar equipment that can prove whether or not the human eye can see more than 30 fps. However, I KNOW FOR A FACT FROM PERSONAL EXPERIENCE that dvd's and blu rays going from 60 hz tv to a 120hz tv is like watching it LIVE in person. 240hz tv IS LIVE quality in person. no half ass catch up beyond the 60fps mark

You people should go to wikipedia and check EYE The human eye can only catch up 29, somewhat Frames per Second put it on 100 and you'll loose 70 Frames by a blink.... 29 fps is good enough if its constant theres no need for 270 fps i saw a server yesterday wich had 25000 fps ( for real look it up 24H-Hostoing) thats ridiculous...

Its not 24k fps you fucking idiot, he was testing source record with 240FPS to see how smooth it would be on Youtube. If you watch this video and then go watch a few other CSS videos you'll notice this one is extremely smoother. He doesn't play with 240FPS, he's RECORDING source footage at 240FPS.

Yeah. I have the mac version of this game (unofficial one, cracked too) and I get like 40 - 50 (tops) and it feels pretty smooth considering it's cider. Now on a PC it probably should run better.

^^I too had this little fps (20-40) before on my old graphics card...but now I got a new one with 1GB memory on it and it runs with 120-180fps on high performance...so I'm guessing that better graphics cards improve your fps

this can be done with fraps. just first record a source demo. then type host_framerate # then record the demo. make sure sync is disabled with fraps tho.

but then the video will be speed up and slowed down. thats why you need to record a demo first then play back the demo with the command host_framerate # then record it with fraps on no sync so that it doesnt get sped up /slowed down at random

no doesnt work. fraps records way differently, it records an avi which uses your current framerate, your just setting the max frames allowed. sourcerecord takes screeenshots in this case 240 each seconds and is later pieced together in virtual dub or other programs

IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT GRAPHIX CARD YOU USE!!! You could run this at lowest settings and get 30 fps while playing or recording, when you go to record it takes a series of screenshots per second which are later pasted together in VDUB or another program with X amount of frames each seconds, giving you 240 REGAURDLESS OF SETTINGS! also you dont need the best vid card to get those kind of graphix in css, its more of a processor game

It doesn't matter what kind of computer or specs you have while recording with sourcerecorder. A 7950GT will give you the same exact results as a GTX 280 in css, but maybe not the same as a quad core running at 4.0 than a pentium 4 at 2.1

Regardless these specs, you will get a lower fps while playing, but a higher when recording.
