I'm happy with my 60d, identical sensor and only 2 1/2 less frames per second plus very useful flip screen for video and live mode shooting and cheaper .....-:-()
@morloff don't forget, only 9 focus points, plastic body, and only one processor. There's a reason it's a bit more expensive (And really not that much.) I'm not knocking the 60D at all, I shoot both.
@djembedrummer Plastic over metal you mean. The chasis of the 60d, 550d and 600d are metal. The 1000d and 1100d are all plastic as far as I recall but the 60d is plastic over metal body.
I have another question here. How many shots 7D have lifetime.
Friend of mine went to servis with Nikon (45000 shots) They said him about camera is destroyed until he got that many shots. Hope same things are not happend in Canon.
@acato2531 Thanks a lot for this info. My 7D is only 6 month old, but due to protests what I shoting a lot and traveling with groups across Iceland I already have 7000 clicks. Your answer makes me relaxed. :) Thanks.
@Bolero08 A slight update; after owning my 7D since August of this year, I've had to send her in for repairs.
A spring in the mirror motor assembly broke, i.e. I could take one picture, but then the mirror would lock up and wouldn't come down without completely powering down the camera.
I called Canon Professional Services (if you aren't a member, I'd highly recommend joining) and overnighted my body to them two weeks ago, on a Wednesday.
I am not member of pro service yet. Can you please give me some link?
Actually I have been Canon man before I owned first one 20 y ago. Until that time I haven"t enough money to buy what I wanted to. It was been Canon F1 or A1. Isn"t it 7D or 5D today in comparison with time? I think it is.
I wish i could find a real unbiased comparison with this camera and the Nikon 7000...so far Nikon is winning the race though due to image superiority...planning to buy this spring. All i find are foolish brand loyalists. It's just a tool damn it.
I have been in same situation soon this year. Nikon is going to be too agressive in European market. I don"t know, maybe is Canon answering same way in USA. About 7D canon and 7000 Nikon. I chose in the end Canon between 7 D and 5 D. Well. After I read a lot of articles, blogs, comments etc, I decide to make it. 7D.
@ThePhotory some wildlife photographers that use long zooms prefer non full frame cameras because they magnify the image and give them a closer photo, so full frame is really only for people who really need it.
what tripod are you using? I am looking to buy a good one but don't know which one, can you help? Thanks

@SuperMangn 60D is plastic over aluminium chassis. Alot weaker than full mag alloy. 550D and 600D is worse, plastic over steel chassis

@Bolero08 7D shutters are rated for 150K clicks.
I shoot sports with one (a.k.a. constant motordrive), and have put around 30K shots on it in 4 months without any problems at all.

@QuantumEra dude the 7d is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better and more pro than the D7000
dannyboi50ful1 7 months ago
@dannyboi50ful1 oh shit haha i didn't see d7000 for some reason I had d3 in my head
QuantumEra 7 months ago
@QuantumEra haha i actually like the d3 and i would rather have that than the 1d. but cannon is better in those "smaller" cameras
dannyboi50ful1 7 months ago
@dannyboi50ful1 Yeah i understand lol because the d3 is way more superior than the 1d ;)
QuantumEra 7 months ago
@QuantumEra yea and the 7D is way more superior than the D700 and D7000
dannyboi50ful1 7 months ago
@dannyboi50ful1 But D700 is a fullframe? just to bad that it only has 12mp not like the 5D Mark II with 21mp.
But though, the 7D has 8fps and the d700 only got 5fps so for all around shooting the 7D is better

@dannyboi50ful1 the 7d is actually a very close comparison to d7000 at an extra half the price
