From reading the comments it seems most people just have a problem with the Mass, and not that the Mass is revealed in The Revelation. This is interesting.
If you are so right Saint Michael then why did the Catholic church change the form of baptism from the baptizing like the Apostles did in Acts "in the name of Jesus Christ" to baptizing "in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit." Very few churches look like the book of Acts church and teach what the book of Acts church taught. Your religion is built on tradition and has been heavily infiltrated with paganism due to the Catholic's church "inclusiveness" doctrine.
Jesus Christ commands people to baptize "in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.: So, if you don't do that, you are ignoring Jesus. Well done! Thanks for admitting you aren't Christian!
And the Catholic Church has no "inclusiveness" doctrine. The fact you think there is just shows your ignorance about this issues, and show you should learn before commenting
Come back when you know what you're talking about & are willing to accept the words of Jesus & not ignore Him
Yes, it is sad trying to see people limit God - such as Protestants, who maintain God is so limited He can't come to us in the form of bread and wine, and so limited and weak that He demands people don't talk to their friends!
What Jesus meant was symbolic as we say food for taught» and as we need food for life he said this is my body as in if you eat this bread and drink the wine you symbolise youre faith in him. And you shall have eternal life. Its his way of telling who is in his camp
>> What Jesus meant was symbolic as we say food for taught
No, it was not. No Christian at the time understood it in the way, no Christian for 1500 years understood it like that.
If it is symbolic, why does He say "My Flesh is REAL food" and "My Blood is REAL drink"? Why does He not say "This symbolizes my body", but instead says "This IS my body"?
Sorry, but your assertion is entirely devoid of evidence and facts.
first of all, you would not know how early Christians would have understood what Jesus taught because you simply were not there. Secondly, Jesus spoke in parables which not all understood. you seem to be one of these people. I'm sick and tired of the condescending responses your group gives to those who are not catholics. grow up and get a life.
>> you would not know how early Christians would have understood what Jesus taught because you simply were not there.
And neither were you. But the Church Fathers were, and they agree with me. Ergo, I am right and you are not.
>> Secondly, Jesus spoke in parables which not all understood. you seem to be one of these people.
But, of course, you understand that when Jesus says "REAL FOOD" He is, in fact, speaking symbolically. Despite the fact no-one agrees with you who WAS there.
Firstly, there are things called books and historical texts therefore, the user of this channel does have source material to understand what they understood without having to be there i.e. the early ch fathers. 2ndly, Jesus' pointed out when he would speak in parables. The Eucharist was not symbolic. Read John Ch 6 it's easy to see Jesus was being literal, from the reaction of the disciples that left him because it was too hard to hear, he didn't stop them and say "no wait! it was a metaphor! "
Oh I thought Jesus said a couple of verses before verse 51 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. I am that bread of life. Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead." Besides the Jews asked him how someone could eat his flesh, so Jesus is the 'Bread of Life' but obviously he's not actual bread.
Yes. Given the fact that Jesus says in every single Gospel "This is my body", all the Church Fathers taught this, and Jesus says "my flesh is real food."
Unless you can find an explicit line which reads "the Eucharist is symbolic" then you are arguing an interpretation versus the literal sense of the passage.
>> So you're saying that you actually eat Jesus' flesh and actually drink his blood?
Yes, but it's not just us that says that. The Bible says that ("my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink") and the early Christians said that too.
Absolutely. This is foreshadowed in the Old tetsament when God commands the Hebrews to EAT the sacrificial lamb. There are many other examples and foreshadowings.
This is also why John the Baptists calls Jesus the Lamb of God - a very strange thing to call the Messiah if he isn't a real sacrifice that will be eaten.
So then, why does Col 2:16 say "Let no one judge you therefore in meat (food), drink, in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the BODY is of Christ. Also give me an example when the first Christians received a little wafer as the body and blood of Christ to be eaten.
That's the thing I don't understand about catholics, the wafer becomes body and blood. If only they'd follow the bible instead of manmade traditions.
>> give me an example when the first Christians received a little wafer as the body and blood of Christ to be eaten.
"I have no taste for corruptible food nor for the pleasures of this life. I desire the bread of God, which is the flesh of Jesus Christ, who was of the seed of David; and for drink I desire his blood, which is love incorruptible" (Ignatius of Antioch, Letter to the Romans 7:3 - 110 AD)
>> That's the thing I don't understand about catholics, the wafer becomes body and blood. If only they'd follow the bible instead of manmade traditions.
But this IS Biblical. The Bible says "This is my body" - not "this represents my body". And it is not a manmade tradition - it is a tradition personally given to the apostles by Jesus Christ.
Also, your quote from Col 2:16 isn't actually relevant to the discussion. This is about the sacramental presence of Jesus in the Eucharist, not the idea that the Church is the body of Christ. Both are true ideas - proving one does not negate the other.
>> Revelation about mass???how do you get that from the Bible?
By reading the Bible and by attending Mass, and seeing the huge similarities between them. Have you ever been to Mass and studied what the various parts mean?
>> we know that 'without the shedding of blood there is no REMISSION' of SIN!
Yes, the Mass is the SAME sacrifice of Christ presented in an unbloddy manner. It is not a new sacrifice.
>> i've attended many 'masses'
Why do you put that in inverted commas?
>> can you explain how do you relate the 2(mass & Rev.)?
I think it would be best if you downloaded the podcast of the whole show - that would explain things, I think. Go to the page in the description; the podcast is on there.
The Revelation to John was written at a time when Christians were being persecuted because of their faith in jesus chrisy as lord. The writer's main concern is to give his readers hope and encouragement, and to urge them to remain faithful during times of suffering and persecution. For the most part of the book consists of several series of revelations and visions presented in symbolic language that would have been understood by christians of that day. but would remain a mystery to all others.
>> The writer's main concern is to give his readers hope and encouragement, and to urge them to remain faithful during times of suffering and persecution.
Very true - and in order to do this, he speaks about the Mass; the greatest form of worship and the only event which allows us to offer anything of value to God - God Himself!
He commanded that we go to church. I Believe in going to mass for forgiveness and to get the necessities needed for us to do the will of god. Going to mass only strengthens the faith even further
you get forgiveness if you BELIEVE in YESHUA(JESUS)that HE COME AND DIED FOR YOUR SINS on the cross AND GOD RAISED HIM FROM DEATH(Act. 2:24) ON THE 3 RD DAY...that's ALL,don't have to get yourself checked at the door on Sundays...your FAITH is strengthened by GOD (1Cort. 2:5), NOT BY YOU!!!
>> you get forgiveness if you BELIEVE in YESHUA(JESUS)that HE COME AND DIED FOR YOUR SINS on the cross AND GOD RAISED HIM FROM DEATH(Act. 2:24) ON THE 3 RD DAY...that's ALL,
No, that's NOT ALL.
Remember, Jesus says that if we don't eat His flesh and drink His blood, you have NO LIFE IN YOU. You can ONLY do that during Mass.
have you read John 6:35 lately?in this verse Yeshua(Jesus) gives us the definitions for 'eating & drinking'...so when you go to mass and eat the 'cookie' you are not supposed to get hungry and thirsty anymore, but as both of us know that is not the case...
Can you please explain why Jesus says that we must eat His flesh and drink His blood and then - when people say "Really? You mean, like actually eat?" - says "Yep, that is what I mean. My flesh is REAL FOOD and my blood is REAL DRINK"?
Why does Jesus say this? Why did every single Christian teach this for 1500 years or more? Why did those taught by the Apostles teach this? Why are YOU right and those holy men wrong?
those people back then 'broke bread' as a REMEMBRANCE of HIM...NOT IN the sense that RCC uses it today...RCC's transubstantiation come in 100s of years later...
>> those people back then 'broke bread' as a REMEMBRANCE of HIM...NOT IN the sense that RCC uses it today...RCC's transubstantiation come in 100s of years later...
Evidence, please. I am more than happy to show several dozen quotes which show that the early Church understood that the Eucharist was Jesus' body and blood.
Remembrance means (in a Jewish context) "to make present again". Not to "remember", but to "experience the same event again".
Luke 22:19 is very CLEAR:"And he took bread , and gave thanks , and brake [it], and gave unto them , saying , This is my body which is given for you : this do in REMEMBRANCE of me"...you may quote as many sources as you want the Bible refutes you!!!we are talking about Greek language...NOT Hebrew!!! in Greek remembrance is RECOLLECTION,to call[to mind]...
i'm NOT smiling!!!so if HE is taking SPIRITUALLY why is RCC make it physical?in verse 35...HE gives you the definitions...then if you read on in chp. 6 and apply the definitions given in verse 35....you 'll see that the cookie is just that a cookie NOTHING more...
>> in verse 35...HE gives you the definitions...then if you read on in chp. 6 and apply the definitions given in verse 35....you 'll see that the cookie is just that a cookie NOTHING more...
Because in vv 52-58 He makes it clear He is speaking literally. Read v 55. Read v 60 where they say "This is hard" and what does Jesus do? He lets them leave because they don't accept it. They understand it literally, but they don't like it.
how can a mortal(RCC priest) make the GOD of CREATION by uttering a couple of words over a cookie?by what LOGIC do you see that happening?...
again you take verses like 52-58 and IGNORE what come before those verses(verse 35),and make everything(eating ,drinking) psychical.Read the whole chp 6 in context don't take whatever RCC tells you to make their unbiblical teachings stand...
> how can a mortal make the GOD of CREATION by uttering a couple of words over a cookie?
A Priest can do this because God gives him the power to do so.
>> again you take verses like 52-58 and IGNORE what come before those verses(verse 35),and make everything(eating ,drinking) psychical
"My flesh is REAL food and my blood is REAL drink". What more do you want? John6 is full of references to it being literal; you have one reference which is metaphorical
The Book of Revelation has little to do with any literal interpretation of its text. That particular book is an allegory, and its symbolism and metaphors represent things not meant to be interpreted as-is. To believe that the end of the world has anything to do with the supposed biblical account of Armageddon is to disrespect the Bible by refusing to understand its text. In other words, the majority of Christians in the bible belt (the southern US) are wrong in their beliefs.
